1 Thessalonians Chapter 4 would be a very good starting point. 4:16 says that we who are alive and remain will be "caught up" together with them in the clouds. These two words "caught up" are where we get the word Rapture from.

Hope this helps some with your son. I'm currently studying this subject along with prophecy so if I can be of help just say so.

I just found your site this morning, having looked up a verse earlier and the search was still on my computer when I logged back on. Although I do like the ASB and the NASB, the KJV is still my favorite. There are several scriptures which I'm so familiar with in the KJV that they just don't sound the same written any other way.

The opportunity though to message online with other believers is welcome. So many sites now are becoming opposed to the truth of God's Word. So, thank you for being here.

I totally agree with you brother. The old covenant law(Ten Commandments) are pretty simple and in no way cover the whole spectrum of committing sin. As if someone still thought "just live by these ten and I'm good" that clearly, to me, shows that Christ is not growing within them, yet hopefully. The differentiation of living by the flesh, or in the Spirit, is a whole new life. Truly gifted to us by the works of our Saviour Jesus Christ. Thanks be to people like you and all the other brothers, and sisters, in Christ around the world trying to spread the "good news" of salvation. Able to have true relationship with our Eternal Father in Heaven. In the world we live in today not many people are interested in hearing about the Lord. Never stop confessing Him to other people. At least trying to plant a seed, for our Father, that one day may begin to grow in Christ. "Every good, perfect, gift is from above"

The spiritual baptism is where when someone believes that Jesus Christ died on the cross, buried, "risen again the third day according to the scriptures."

Ask God now for forgiveness. Be able to face your Mighty Lord when He reads your Life in His Book. This is Life or Death to you once in Heaven. There is no turning back. Think...Now... Coronavirus 19-or some subsequent mutation thereof?

It still greatly amazes me to this day that the Jews, in spite of all the Lord's help & blessings bestowed onto them, would even contemplate engaging in abominable activities such as worshipping Moloch! Why people can't understand why God would make null & void the first Covenant and thereby cease having the Jews be the chosen people is beyond my understanding. The Lord sought a more righteous people to be His chosen people. Therefore, He sent His Son to this Earth to die for our sins. And, whosoever places his or her faith on Christ's great & awesome sacrifice on the Cross will become one of God's chosen people, albeit that person be either Jew or Gentile. Mind you, a Jew can still be a part of God's chosen people if he or she repents from his or her unbelief. and places his or her full faith on Christ's sacrifice on the Cross.

Nancy, Pray to the Lord to show you the path to the right church. You don't need to rush to the nearest one to get baptized. Many churches don't teach the word of the Bible. Pray for guidance.

Sometimes we're given a little more information about those that lived between Adam & Noah, but not a lot which would require volumes more to include details of their lives, their marriages, exploits, religious observances or diversions, etc. The Bible does focus on the generations leading up to the birth of Jesus Christ so one can track His lineage all the way back to Adam: Luke 3:23-38.

However, post Flood, God's chosen (Israel) came through the line of Shem, Noah's eldest son.

There are four types of love (in Greek) given in the Bible which is more useful than the single word we have in English.

a. Agape: this is the highest form of love that one can give or receive; it implies an everlasting, sacrificial love. 1 John 3:16, 4:8, 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 are few examples.

b. Storge: the love that shows familial deep care & concern between members of a family. Obviously, agape can also be experienced in families, but storge is that general love that family care & devotion applies to. Storge is not a word seen in Scripture, though its opposite is seen, e.g. Romans 1:31 "astorgous" & 2 Timothy 3:3.

c. Phileo: the love, warmth & affinity shared by close friends. John 11:36, Romans 12:10.

d. Eros: a romantic, sexual love, made especially lovely within marriage. This word is not used in Scripture, though implied in the reading of Song of Solomon & warnings of unrestrained love (porneia) going beyond the bounds of morality.

Deuteronomy 22:5 was a command about this given to the children of Israel: "The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God."

However, this Scripture does not give a warrant for us these days, as 'pants' are made for both genders & their acceptability in society. In those early days, this matter about clothing would have been more meaningful as they were not only gender-specific but more likely, amongst the heathen, the exchange of clothing in temple worship was common in honour of their god or goddess. So, Israel was not to imitate the heathen in this practise.

Yes, Daniel 9:26 was accomplished at the coming of the Messiah and then in AD 70, Emperor Titus marched into Jerusalem & destroyed it. Verse 27 is also attributed to this invasion though some see it as a picture of the future Anti-Christ who comes to 'bring peace' in the middle east conflicts, yet mid-week through his reign breaks any covenant he makes with Israel, & indeed goes against her. From hereon, Israel's sorrows multiply.

I'm came here today because, for the very first time of being a Christian for 50+ years, I saw the same thing in that scripture. I know the Catholic Church uses the "upon this rock I build my Church" to maintain that Peter was the first Pope, and no I am not Catholic; and no I do not believe that. However, Jesus DOES plainly say that whatsoever is loosed on earth by Peter (and supposedly the Church) will be loosed in HEAVEN. THAT means that if He said that adultery was good for the Church...then it was good for Heaven. Now I know you're going to rant and rave, but READ IT. That is EXACTLY the implication there; and as near as I can tell, there is no additional clarification to that statement--ANYWHERE. To be honest...I'll have to pray over this for the next 50+ years....

A great commentary for these uncertain times. As wickedness becomes more rampant & the hearts of folk growing weak & fearful for the future, getting on our knees & weeping for our nations & those overcome, is the only resort we have. God sees what we don't see - He understands even when we are perplexed & in sorrow. Maybe He wants to see how much we really care for our countries & for one another in times such as these. Are you referring to Asherah? If so, this word is not the King James Bible, but in other Bible versions it is translated as 'Asherah'.

Asherah (plural, Asherim) refers to 'grove' in the KJV, and these groves were essentially the trunk of a tree that was hewed down & then carved into an image for the purpose of worship that image. The origin of this was the Canaanite goddess Astarte whose image may have been carved into the trunk.

You may remember that God's people, Israel, were commanded to go into the land of the Canaanites, Hivites, Hittites, etc. to conquer them & this land would be Israel's future possession. However, throughout the history of Israel, they started off well to serve the true & living God, but ended up taking on the worship of the idols of the heathen around them. You can look at these references: 1 Kings 16:33, 2 Kings 21:7, Exodus 34:13, Judges 6:25 for a few occurrences of this idolatry. So whenever you see 'groves' or 'asherah', they refer to idolatry that was practised by heathen nations & for which Israel often also did & suffered under God's Hand.

Actually grace doesn't prevent you from sinning, but God's grace may forgive you for your sins you choose to commit. It's your own choice whether you sin or not. Your own choice whether you choose good or evil. God doesn't force you to be one or the other. God will never allow you to be tempted beyond what you can bear. God has not taken away anyone's freewill whether Christian or not. People often pretend like they have no self control and make up excuses to justify sins they enjoy. Jesus commanded us to sin no more so we should not. Even satan an angel had freewill to sin in heaven and will suffer the consequences.

Richard, if we look at the Commandments of God, whether given only to Israel as they were, or in a general way to us, of knowing & attending to God's requirements, then there can be no fault found in the Law.

The issue that comes up, whether known or unknown to the Law-keeper, is a theological one & in a very real way impacts on our view of the Scriptures & our view of our relationship to the Godhead. The Word declares that God's Law "is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good." ( Rom 7:12) so there's nothing wrong with the Law & its eternal purity & accuracy. But the problem comes up when Jesus Christ appeared on the scene & gave His Life for mankind. Something happened to that Law - it didn't change in its character & condition - it changed in its 'use by date' hence, its usefulness. ( Heb 8:6,7): "But now hath he (Jesus) obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises. For if that first covenant (the Law) had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second."

And so, if the Law remained without fault in as far as giving us direction in life & keeping us acceptable to God, then there was no need for a Saviour - the Law was doing a good job, or was it? But that was never in God's Plan as the 'expiry date' had come when Jesus came: "For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh, that the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." ( Rom 8:3,4). So here we have the decision: are we righteous before God by keeping the letter of the Law, or by the righteousness of the Law which comes from the Spirit? If we choose to 'keep' the Law & tick off the list to show how we're doing in our eyes or before God, then our righteousness comes from the Law & not by faith in Jesus Christ.

You have voiced legitimate concerns, yet the law cannot keep us from sinning; the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ is necessary for that.

David, it is true that Isaiah 14:4ff refers to the king of Babylon, yet it appears that his wickedness was likened to Lucifer (= the shining one). And that not only his rule, but also his destiny would be as assigned to Lucifer. The King probably entertained such thoughts in his heart also, as 'exalting himself above anyone else on Earth or in Heaven even to be equal to God', which he was considered during his rule. So the reference is to the king, but clear allusion to Lucifer, the spirit that controlled the king, both in his mental aspirations & wickedness as a regent.

As further support, we have Ezekiel chapter 28, where a similar wicked prince is taken over the coals: the Prince of Tyrus. He too made similar claims (v2). Then Ezekiel took up a lamentation over him (vv 12-19) with words that clearly show that the prince could not possibly be the one that is only referred to here (vv 13-16) & that there is another one that perfectly fulfilled this, indeed was instrumental in the prince's behaviour. Words such as 'anointed cherub' & 'perfect in the ways from the day thou was created' can't be applied to the prince, rather strongly reveals Satan who was once pure & holy 'until iniquity was found in thee' who was the prince's influence.

So the question comes back to your thoughts: 'if angels have no will of their own, how can they then sin'? Herein, our understanding ceases as we're not told how this can happen. But because it happened, we should not remove all references to Satan/Lucifer as one who was never in Heaven as a cherub. And, we're not required to be 'sinless to enter Heaven': we are still saved & sanctified sinners who will be renewed in every way, outfitted for life in Eternity. Only Jesus is seen as a sinless Man now glorified in Body & in worship, at His Father's right Hand.

Jesus fulfilled the law and Christians who follow Jesus are subject to grace. Those who don't follow Jesus or are lukewarm and only trying to pretend to be a Christian to abuse grace to enjoy committing sin will not be saved and should be afraid of going to hell, in my opinion. Jesus did not abolish the law and if people love Jesus then they are to try hard to avoid sin. God hates sin. Just because someone has grace does not mean a Christian should enjoy committing evil and not worry about avoiding sin. Look at Paul's struggle. Look at Jesus's many many teachings to Christians to avoid sin. Some people are spreading lies claiming sin doesn't even exist. Some are saying its even ok for Christians to kill, commit adultery, fornication, blaphemy, lust, and all kinds of evil, with intention to enjoy it, and no intention to avoid it. The Bible already said that's untrue and sin the the devils temptations and lies we need to put our armor and stay strong to avoid. Romans 6:1. John 14:15
