God loved His people , AND the gentile idol worshippers around them. He didn't just kill the Gentiles; they KNEW of the Israelites long before and how they were saved out of Egypt, but didn't want any part of it - so God destroyed them so His people wouldn't be drawn into their sin, BUT He always left a few for temptation - to see if they loved Him enough to serve Him only.

People need to read Eph. 5:4.

Stoning was the O.T. dispensation; and it was God's way - "My ways are higher than your ways ....." God is - GOD, and there is not a whole lot we can do about that. Now, since Jesus ascension into Heaven, is the age of Grace, not the O.T. law. There was no grace in the O.T.; there was forgiveness if you turned to Him. Grace is an ongoing thing- for this age.

In vs 23 Christ tells us don't go! The one in the field and those that go are going the wrong way. They are taken because of their own ignorance. The ceremonial laws are extinct - notice there is no Temple now since 70a.d. to sacrifice in. The Lord God did that. It was HIS temple and He fulfilled it's use in Jesus; the people would not quit sacrificing and turn to Him so - He destroyed it.

People like to lay 'genocide' on God in the O.T. How does that 'change who He is and how does that make you better than Him?

To C. Kalu - you need to read Malachi 3:10-12. If we will be faithful in our tithing AND freewill offering, God WILL bless us; I give 10 per cent every week and He's never failed to bless me. It's not always in money, it's also answered prayer for healing or for salvation of others, or a car or repairs to something or whatever HE sees the need for.

To C. Kalu - To tithe all the increase of the 'field' is simply saying we tithe (10 per cent) of the gross amt. we earn, not the 'net' - the net is AFTER the taxes are taken out; we pay tithe on the gross BEFORE taxes are taken out.

April (leaven) - The leaven in the O.T. was a type of sin - sin gets in you for one little thing, maybe tobacco and SPREADS to alcohol, drugs, sex, abuse of others, and on 'n on. Egypt was also a type of sin; the Israelites wee taken out of Egypt by God. We cannot, forever, get physical sins out of our lives; only the Lord can. Nor can we remit orig. sin from Adam 'n Eve - only God can. Acts 2:38

When we consider how powerful Satan is then we really need to take advantage of and use every provision that Jehovah God has given us so that we can successfully resist the schemes of the Devil.

We are helped to see that without Jehovah God's help, humans are not able to be successful. We need his guidance in life.

Indeed, the Lord is my Shepherd and has been all my 70 plus years, even during periods of my darkest despair, He restored my soul. Great Shepherd, please do the same for my beloved daughter, a single mom, burdened with worries over her stressful job, and she doesn't realize that You Lord, the Great Shepherd is all she needs to stop stressing. Just get in the habit of reading Psalm 23 daily!
