In Matthew 16:16- And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
(the Son of the living God.) This is interpreted Jesus is God. Why this is important? I will come back to that.
And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church.
Jesus is telling Peter "on this basis (Jesus being God) will set the cornerstone for the foundation that the Church will be built on.
Hebrews 9:22-24 reads "And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.
For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:
Jesus was the only perfect sacrifice that could present himself as that perfect Lamb from God that could atone for our sins.
Peter says in Acts 4:11-12 "This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
Jesus wasn't a descendent from Adam where he carried sin in the flesh as all of man kind.
He was brought foward by the Spirit of God. Matthew 1:20-21.
Hebrews 2:14 reads "Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
Listen to Jesus in John 14:6 "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
17Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.
This verse seems to make the case that Jesus Christ was our (humanities') brother before the incarnation! That is truly a mind-boggling piece of theology.
GOD REVEALED HIMSELF IN THE SON, JESUS CHRIST WITHOUT SIN OR FAULT
Pt. 8
Heb. 1:1-3 reveals to believers the excellent and unadulterated revelation of God in Christ (as well as the revelation of Jesus in the book by that name). How blessed we are that God purposed to reveal Himself to us so that we can know Him unto eternal life!
Hebrews 2:1-4 tells us to take heed to all of these revelations of God to mankind, especially the revelation of the Son, Jesus which are the words of eternal life. Vs. 4 affirming that God bears witness to what has been preached by those who heard Jesus' words in person with signs and wonders verifying that their words and work is from God Himself, all worked in them by the Holy Spirit
Jesus is the pre-eminent revelation of God to mankind, being Himself God incarnated. Whatever Jesus did or said is what was of God always. He never failed to obey the Father and always spoke whatever the Father willed for Him to speak.
GOD PURPOSED TO DWELL IN THOSE ELECTED, REGENERATED, CALLED, AND SAVED IN JESUS
In addition to Jesus being the ultimate revealer of God in person, God purposed to dwell within these elect believers and this indwelling was of the Holy Spirit from Pentecost onward for every believer. In the OT God "tabernacled" with Israel in the wilderness, especially in the tent of meeting designed by God and built according to God's plan by the Israelites. Later, when the Israelites took possession of all the land promised to Abraham, David petitioned God to build a temple for Him to dwell in. And God told David that it would be His son, Solomon, whom would be the one to build this temple. And when it was completed, God's glory did dwell in both the Holy of Holies in the tent of meeting in the wilderness up to the time of the temple completion and then in the Holy of Holies of the stone temple. But, because of the idolatry of Judah God removed His glory and presence from the temple ( Ezekiel 10:18).
Hebrews 2:18 - For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.
In that He Himself has suffered having been tempted, He is able to succor (or help) them that are tempted. You see, this is what completed Christ. Those who are tempted and tested can come to Him for help. And He has already suffered in likeness as we have, as a man, as a human being. But He is able to help us because He has suffered in likeness that we have.
Hebrews 3:1 - Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;
Please notice the two things that he is addressing believers with. First of all, he says holy brethren. In the Greek text, that's that word set apart. Secondly, partakers of the heavenly calling. Later he will say partakers of the heavenly calling belonged to Christ.
He says consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus. What a statement! The word consider is an educational term, and it means to set your mind on something, to focus on something. So, when he says consider what I'm about to tell you, that's a command. I want you to set your mind on this. I want you to focus on it for a moment. I want you to focus on Christ Jesus, but notice His titles, the apostle, and high priest.
The word apostle (APOSTOLOS) means to send out with a commission. You're representing someone who has sent you out with a message, or an errand. But you represent whoever sent you on the mission that that person sends you. Jesus Christ is said to be the apostle of God because He's the only one that God has sent to us to represent God.
Hebrews 2:11 - For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,
The word sanctify means to set apart. It is the verb form of the word holy. It's the word holy and the word saints. We are called saints. We are the set apart people. When the Holy Spirit comes into my spirit and saves me, I am then set apart and I belong to Christ. That whole process, once it's finished, it's called sanctification. It is the word HAGIADZO. So, you have the adjective that describes saint or holy, and then you have the verb that describes the action that takes place to arrive at that condition. And so, the one who sanctifies, and they who are sanctified, are all from one source. It's all from God.
Hebrews 2:17 - Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.
This is not the normal word for reconciliation in the scriptures. This is the word propitiation (HILASKESTHAI) which means satisfaction. It's the same word for mercy seat in the Old Testament. The priest would go into the holy of holies once a year and sprinkle blood on the mercy seat for the sins of the people and for the nation Israel.
Jesus Christ is our mercy seat. He is our sacrifice. It is His blood that is sprinkled on the mercy seat to make satisfaction for the sins of the people. He was a merciful and faithful high priest in the things pertaining to God. That is, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.
Hebrews 2:4 - God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?
God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts, or more literally, distributions of the Holy Ghost. It is distributions (MERISMOIS), not gifts. This word is never used for gifts in the scriptures. The translators meant to say that the Holy Spirit was given as a gift to people. If you say the gifts of the Holy Spirit, people start thinking about what we know of in the church as the gifts of the Holy Spirit. But these are distributions of the Holy Spirit, according to his own will?
Now the word own is not in the Greek text. The translators put it there in order to attribute according to His will to be to the Holy Spirit. But in the Greek text, according to His will is a prepositional phrase connected to the first line, God also bearing them witness. And these gifts (if you want to call them that), signs and wonders, and miracles, and distributions of the Holy Spirit, were given according to God's will.
So, the signs and wonders, and miracles and distributions, were to authenticate the gospel message. That's why the word confirmed up in Verse 3 and confirmed to us by them that heard Him. The message of the gospel of Jesus Christ was confirmed by the provision of physical miracles for people to see.
Hebrews 2:6 - But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him?
This is a quote from Psalm 8, and it's a reference to human beings. Don't let the term "the son of man throw you off." There is no definite article with the term son of man in the Greek text. It's making reference to human beings. So, what is man, that you are mindful of him? Or son of man, that thou visiteth him? I mean who are we? We're nothing. We're fallen creatures!
Hebrews 1:8 - But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
But unto the Son he says ( Psalm 45:6-7), Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: Jesus is being called God!
Hebrews 2:1 - Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.
The word ought is the word necessary. So, it is necessary to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. I'd just like to share a few technical points about the text. First of all, the text itself, where it says the more earnest heed, that means to pay attention. It is a special word. It is a navigational and specific nautical term for ship terminology. The more earnest heed means to bring a ship into the harbor. It means to guide the ship into the harbor where it's going to be stationed.
The King James says lest at any time we should let them slip. Notice the word them is in italics. It's not let them slip, but that we should slip. It is literally lest at any time, we should slip past. It is a nautical term that means to drift past the harbor. So, in one instance, the helmsman is steering the ship into the harbor to its docking station. In another instance, the helmsman is just letting the ship drift past where he's supposed to go in.
He's saying that if you don't have a response to what you're hearing, that's your "take to earnest heed." If you don't make a responsible response, you can be shipwrecked. That's basically what it's all about. Just listening is not enough. We must take the earnest heed, the more special attention to the things that we have heard, lest at any time, we should slip past them like a ship that misses the harbor. He's talking about securing. Make sure you've made that last step, not just listening, but your response is very important!
And God said untoAbraham, Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee in their generations.
God called Jacob Israel.
Genesis 32:28
And he said, Thy name shall be called no moreJacob, butIsrael: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.
The twelve tribes of Israel started with Jacob's twelve sons when they became a nation in Egypt . In Genesis 49, Jacob blesses his sons, who become the fathers of the 12 tribes. The sons are Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Zebulun, Issachar, Dan, Gad, Asher, Naphtali, Joseph, and Benjamin.
Genesis 49:28
All these are thetwelvetribesof Israel: and this is it that their father spake unto them, and blessed them; every one according to his blessing he blessed them.
A true Jew is from within ( spiritual).
Romans 2:29
But he is aJew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
Jesus Christ took the seed of Abraham in the flesh.
Hebrews 2:16
For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed ofAbraham.
Because of Abraham faith, he became a Jew inwardly.
Hebrews 11:17
By faithAbraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,
Romans 4:16
Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith ofAbraham; who is the father of us all,
Thanks, brother, I'm not the best at putting on paper my understanding. I know some Scriptures refer to the Holy Spirit as he, but the Spirit is the Spirit of God. The Spirit of God dwells in us, Romans 8:9, 1 Corinthians 3:16 and, more. It is the power of the Holy Spirit that does the work of God, Romans 15:19, Jesus did the miracles by the Holy Spirit, Matthew 12:28, Luke 4:18, Acts 10:38, Hebrews 2:4.
Jesus said the words He spoke were not His words but the Fathers and God did the works, this was done by the Holy Spirit through Jesus. John 14:10. Jesus said the Holy Spirit/Comforter proceedeth from the Father John 15:26, Jesus said the Holy Ghost will not speak of himself but what he is told, so the Holy Spirit is under the direction of the Father and Jesus, John 16:13.
All the salutations are from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit is not in any salutations. In Revelation 21:22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb is the temple of it. No Holy Spirit, what I see in Scripture is the Holy Spirit is the conduit that God works through and now Jesus as well.
I hope this gives you enough info to see how I see the Holy Spirit and I know that is not what many believe. I do not want to offend and I hope I don't, but this is what I see in Scripture. I do not see the Holy Spirit as a person but as the power of God that surrounds this earth by which God and Jesus dwell in us to communicate, guide, and comfort us.
We find that the unfolding of God's salvation plan is in no sense haphazard or random, but that every aspect of that plan is worked out in time. We can't separate time from the law, they are inextricably linked together. Galatians 4:4 declares
"4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, 5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons."
Today there are a number of people who are saying they know the timing of Christ's return. Whether God shall reveal the timing remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: Christ's return is imminent, and the time to make our calling and election sure is now.
Hebrews 2:3,4
"3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; 4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?"
2 Corinthians 6:2 "(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)"
Romans 9:27,28 "27 Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved: 28 For he will finish the [Greek: logos, proclamation of the gospel], and cut it short in righteousness: because a short [Greek: logos, proclamation of the gospel] will the Lord make upon the earth."
May the LORD open our spiritual eyes and ears as we search the scriptures, applying the principals that God Himself has laid out in His Word, the Bible. Praying that God, in His Mercy, might open our understanding. And that He might give us an earnest and ongoing desire to be obedient to that Word.
The righteousness mentioned here in Isaiah 32:17 is not man's, but it is the righteousness of God revealed in the gospel. This is the righteousness of Christ, which is made over to us and gives us a standing before God. It cannot be improved upon because it is perfect, and it cannot be disturbed because it is given to the lost sinner who trusts in Jesus.
God wants all who trust the work in Christ to come to a place in experience where each can say with confidence, boldness, and much assurance, but with true humility:
I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day. ( 2 Timothy 1:12)
To fall short of this goal is to miss the best that He has for us. It reveals a defect in our understanding and in our appreciation of His "so great salvation" ( Hebrews 2:3).
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, who gave them to me, is greater than all, and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. ( John 10:27-29)
He never lets go. Now sit back, relax, and enjoy your salvation. Someone has said, "All the way to heaven is heaven."
Why Do We Doubt?
There are many reasons why believers do not have the assurance of their salvation. Let us look at some of the principal ones.
Fear.
Some are frightened souls who received the gospel in trembling and fear. The gospel was presented partially, and they were not told that they could have any assurance. There is always a serious doubt whether folk like this have ever been saved. The instability and inconsistency of the lives of many who live in the atmosphere of uncertainty do not reveal a thoroughgoing conversion. It is interesting to note what Paul wrote to the Thessalonians concerning the preaching of the gospel in their city:
Hey brother, I can see how that looks like Jesus made the decision Himself. In Hebrews 2:14 "he also himself likewise took part of the same". The word took is the Greek word metech means shared, share, partake of, a member of, my understanding is as the children were flesh and blood so was He. It is in line with Hebrews 2:17 "It behooved him to be made like unto his brethren".
The word for behooved is the Greek word opheilo meaning Jesus had to be made like His brethren, legally required, obligated to pay off a valid debt, we know what that debt was and man who had no sin was who had to pay it, Jesus gave His life a ransom to rescue us from God's wrath.
Agree with the Kinsman Redeemer that we now are considered fellow heirs, Jesus first came only for the lost sheep of Israel, Matthew 15:24. His blood was shed to pay the sin debt of those whom all will have faith in Him.
In verse 16 maybe Jesse or Giannis can help with that verse my understanding is Jesus taketh, not hold of angels, Jesus was not to save the fallen angels but to save the seed of Abraham, man. Not sure about that.
In Revelation 5:3-4 the word man is the Greek word oudeis means no one that could include any heavenly being or any earthly being.
My understanding of this chapter points to how Jesus was in all ways like us but without a sinful nature which is so clear to me in verses 17-18 and the start of chapter 3 and more.
"Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, "HE ALSO HIMSELF LIKEWISE TOOK PART OF THE SAME;"
(I'm not sure but in the English this looks like a conscious decision he made before he came into the world!
If so, here's the reason for the premeditated decision.)
"that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
Jesus took on flesh to be our
Kinsman redeemer. (go el)
Hebrews 2:11-15.
As a Kinsman Redeemer If one of your fellow Israelites becomes poor and sells some of their property, their nearest relative is to come and redeem what they have sold" ( Leviticus 25:25). By definition, a kinsman-redeemer was someone who redeemed what was lost.
The kinsman who redeems or vindicates a relative is illustrated most clearly in the book of Ruth, where the kinsman-redeemer is Boaz.
Jesus came in the flesh to redeem what was lost in the Garden.
We are his brothern through our "new birth from above" but In Revelation 5:3-5 it had to be a man to open the book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals. (This emphasizes a title deed.
In Revelation 5:9the redeemed sung a new song!
"And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast REDEEMED US to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;
I am sorry if we do not agree, and sorry for the delayed reply.
My understanding, we have two trees, and two Adams one tree associated with the first Adam and the other with the last Adam. Did God know what the first Adam would do? Yes. Does that mean Adam was not made perfect without sin? No. Everything before the first day of creation until the new earth and the new heaven was and is in God's plan. Can we comprehend that? No. Can we know how God will judge anyone before the law or all the people after the law but never heard the commands of God or of Him sending His Son to die for us? Revelation 20:11-15
Two men walked this earth that did not have an earthly father the first and the last Adam. The first was disobedient and the second was obedient unto death. Three people came into the world without a sinful nature Adam, Eve, and Jesus. There was no sin in the first Adam until he disobeyed God, the curse was not given to him or mankind before Adam disobeyed and sinned.
In Scripture, we are told Jesus was tempted the same as we are, Hebrews 4:15 "yet without sin".
Jesus had a will of His own Luke 22:42 Jesus was not just a man His Father was God, He could be tempted, and He was obedient to the Father. If Jesus was unable to disobey and unable to sin if He chose to, how can we say He was tempted and how could He fulfill and overcome the curse of death, and the law and He/Jesus the Son of God die for our sins? Would Satan accept anything other than a man fulfilling the law and taking away his power of death Hebrews 2:14?
The other point: Hebrews 5:8,9. Unfortunately, I don't share your understanding, as you wrote, "those sufferings brought him to a state of obedience". If Jesus had to learn how to obey, through His sufferings in life & leading to the Cross, it implies that He had times of disobedience at various stages in His Life. We know that Jesus was perfect & sinless; why should these life's lessons teach Him how to obey when He was sinless & always obeyed?
Rather, when we look at both verses, 'obedience' wasn't a trait He had to learn (as how we sinners have to learn how to behave & obey). But He always obeyed His Father, so that when He "became the author of eternal salvation", the suffering He had to endure caused Him to cleave to His Father even more in unflinching obedience to His Will & thus showed His full suitability as a Sacrifice for sin. Obedience was not something Jesus had to learn to do, rather to put His Obedience to a very practical test through sufferings & identifying with us in ours & we in Him ( Hebrews 4:15, Hebrews 2:10,11). So Jaz, you have stated your points clearly here. Thank you.
I also do agree that Christ was impeccable. I believe Scripture does agree also as in,
Hebrews 2:14
"Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;"
Hebrews 2:18
"For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted."
Philippians 2:7
"But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:"
TEMPT'ED, participle passive Enticed to evil; provoked; tried.
And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin."
1 John 3:5, KJV
Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:"
1 Peter 2:22, KJV
So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation."
Hebrews 9:28, KJV
For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin."
Hebrews 4:15, KJV
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him."
2 Corinthians 5:21, KJV
I understand why some look at this differently, but I do feel if He could sin How could He be GOD ALMIGHTY? God cannot sin, has no part with sin... Tempts no man to sin. I do agree with you Brother so I hope I'm not coming off as I do not. Have a good day God Bless...
GOD is Spirit, the Word- John 1:1.He is greater than JESUS- John 14:28,and 5:19-20,and 12:49.GOD Himself, the Word,is self-executing, JESUS is not- John 5:30.They are One in Spirit, but not in existence personal->GOD the Father, and the Word MADE FLESH-JESUS,both are DISTINCTS Persons- Philippians 2:6-9.
GOD has put all things under the feet of JESUS- 1Corinthians 15:27, but Hebrews 2:8-12 say:...8But now we see not yet all things put under Him.9But we see JESUS,who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with Glory and Honour; that He by the Grace of GOD should taste death for every man.
1Corinthians 15:27-28
27For GOD has put all things under JESUS's feet. But when GOD saith all things are put under JESUS,it is manifest that GOD is excepted, which did put all things under JESUS.
28And when all things shall be subdued unto JESUS,then shall the Son also Himself be SUBJETED unto GOD that put all things under JESUS,that GOD may be all in all.
JESUS is the Spirit-GOD-MADE FLESH->GOD-Christ.Great mystery- John 1:14 combined with Colossians 2:9 and Philippians 2:6-11.Both are one Spirit- John 10:30,but two DISTINCTS Persons being the same Spirit Creator-GOD,having the SAME IMAGE,the image of the Spirit-GOD,one is invisible, and one is vsible- John 14:8-10.JESUS said: John 5:30->I can of mine own self do nothing:.
JESUS as the Greater Light,He commented about the lesser Light-the Person of the Holy Spirit-saying he is the Comfort, the Paraclete, and revealed what is the the mission of him here: John 16:7-15:(By analogy, the moon receive light from the sun,the moon has not ligh in it itself;the person of the Holy Spirit, the Comfort,he has not light in he himself,so he cannot speak anything if does not receive from JESUS- John 16:13.JESUS SAID:he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you- John 16:14,and he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you- John 16:15)
JESUS commented about the mission of the Holy Spirit- John 16:7-15
To begin with, there is no evidence that Paul wrote Hebrews. In fact, Hebrews 2:3 would indicate that it probably was not Paul. I can explain that if you wish. We are not told who wrote the book of Hebrews.
But to answer your question, we see Aaron mentioned, and we also see Melchisedec mentioned. But in both Hebrews Chapters 5 and 6, the writer giving us the superiority of Jesus Christ to Aaron.
The writer of Hebrews at the beginning is making a comparison and contrast between Christ and all of the people that the Jews and Hebrews hold to be "special" within the religious system.
Aaron was a family in the tribe of Levi. There were 12 tribes, and you probably know that God commanded that the tribe of Levi, and only the tribe of Levi, should serve in the temple. They are the only ones to serve as priests, and singers, and the attendance in the temple. But specifically, within the tribe of Levi was the family of Aaron. Only those from the family of Aaron directly could serve as high priest.
So, if you wanted to become a priest, if you were not from the tribe of Levi you could not become a priest. And you definitely could not become a high priest unless you were from the family of Aaron.
So, the writer of Hebrews is going to make a contrast between the superiority of Jesus Christ and Aaron, the Aaronic priesthood and the priesthood of Christ.
Sorry if this is not the answer you're looking for, but without knowing why you are asking me this, I'm just left guessing!
Yes, brother you understood correctly I believe Jesus if He chose, He could have given into a temptation and been disobedient to His Father. Hebrews 2:18 says He suffered being tempted and in Hebrews 4:15 Jesus was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Jesus did not have a sinful nature like we do, He was not from man but was conceived in the womb of Mary by the Holy Ghost, He was the second man the last Adam.
The first Adam was not formed with a sinful nature, but he sinned and was disobedient, Jesus was sinless and obedient to the end, Romans 5:19. He had to know how it feels to battle temptations to become our priest and mediator. If Jesus was incapable of giving in to temptation His perfect sinless life has no meaning and if He was not capable of being disobedient being obedient to the Father unto death has no meaning.
The miracles Jesus did were not by His power but by the power of the Holy Ghost that God the Father gave to Him without measure John 3:34-35Acts 10:38 Jesus said many times it was not His will but the Father's will who sent Him, and He also said the words He spoke were not His but the Father, John12:49-50 That is why Jesus's name is called the Word of God, Revelation 19:13.
Now after God raised Jesus from death, He is at His Father's right hand on the throne of God and has been given power of the throne over all until the last enemy, death is under His feet, Ephesians 1:19-23Revelation 20:14.
I know you may disagree but that is how I understand it.
Jesus was conceived of the Holy Ghost, Matthew 1:20 of the seed of a woman/Mary, Genesis 3:15, and born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God, John 1:13. Jesus grew up the same way that we do, Luke 2:40.
He was subject to the pulls of the flesh. He was tempted and influenced by Satan, Luke 4:1-2. He had a will and human desires, Luke 22:41-42. Although Jesus was filled without measure with the power of the Holy Ghost, and gave all things into his hand, John 3:34-35 Jesus humbled Himself and was obedient unto death, Philippians 2:5-11.
To be the payment for sins of man and to be the Savior of mankind and destroy the works of the devil, Jesus had to be a human, Hebrews 2:14-18, the promise God made was to Abraham and his seed, that was Jesus the Messiah/Christ, Galatians 3:16.
Jesus the last Adam came into this world sinless as the first Adam and had to be laden with what we are as humans. The man Jesus, Romans 5:15, had to endure and overcome sin and rise above the influences of Satan to become the payment for the sins and this atonement made way for our deliverance from Satan's bondage, Romans 3:21-26.
He also was prepared to be a merciful and faithful High Priest, Hebrews 4:14-16. God sent His own Son to condemn sin in the flesh that the law could not do that the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled, Romans 8:3-4.
Jesus the Son of God a human being had to deal with life as we do. He lived in the same time, space, and constraints as we do. He was born under the law, He became tired, He became hungry, He was subject to persecution, subject to pain, subject to the Roman rulers, He had to deal with all the things the same way we do, and all was the for the will of the Father, not His, Matthew 26:42.
Only in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth do we have hope, and are saved, Acts 4:12.
Hebrews 2:7 Jesus was fully human and was tempted just as we are Hebrews 4:15 God cannot be tempted, James 1:13. 1 Corinthians 15:24-28Philippians 2:9 again my understanding is all was in and through Jesus in the plan and forethought in the mind of God, logos.
1 Peter 1:19-20 Yes in God's plan my understanding the Greek is not by whom but through whom the Greek word dia, same as in John 1:3 it is through Him not by Him. In Jesus and through Jesus being the first in God's plan came everything like you said "God's Plan & Purpose for redemption" the new creation that was in God's plan.
Jesus was the beginning in God's plan and was begotten in Mary's womb. Like today where you and I are to God it is the same as if we were there with Him on the new earth and His plan has been completed. He is the beginning and the end, and it started with Jesus His Son before any creation and in and through Jesus came all and in the fulness of time He was brought forth into the world.
As in John 1 God's word was manifested in the flesh of His Son Jesus. When Jesus was anointed and became the Messiah/Christ by the Holy Spirit, God was in Jesus and the words Jesus spoke were God's words. The light that shined through Jesus was God, the works were done by the Spirit of God in Jesus, all was done for the glory of God.
I know you may not agree but that is my understanding and if you have any other questions, I will reply to the best of my ability, I own you that. Can I answer all, no I cannot, there are many verses that I am still in search of the truth of.
To Brother Ronald Whittemore & others. I'm unable to respond to Ronald's last response to me, as the Reply button is missing (probably purposely done to limit the comments in that thread). So this one comes as a new Thread to address those matters.
Page 1.
Thanks again Ronald, and I note that you would like a recess on this discussion. But if I might briefly address the Scriptures you shared & why I believe that they don't answer the question, 'was Jesus' first appearance only from the womb of Mary, or did He exist in another Form within the Person of God?'
To your references:
1 Corinthians 15:47: "the second man is the Lord from Heaven" (not a Man Who became Lord, Who went into Heaven & then returned to Earth as Lord from Heaven - but the Lord Who was in Heaven & came to Earth, unlike the first man, Adam, Who was created from the Earth & back to the Earth he went).
1 Timothy 2:5: yes, Jesus is the Mediator now between God & mankind after His ascension.
Matthew 1:20, Acts 17:31, Revelation 12:5: yes again, all point to Jesus as a Man/Babe Who came from God - but no direct reference to any previous existence.
Hebrews 1:5: indeed, Jesus became the Son of God by virtue of this miraculous Birth, but then God would have created another god, because 'all the angels of God are to worship Him'; & none can receive worship but God alone. You asked, "How could God say I will be to him a Father and he shall be to me a Son if Jesus eternally existed with the Father?" Because God took His Word & gave Flesh to that Word, and this Flesh was brought into the World by the Work of God, which made this One called Jesus, God's Son. Jesus only became the Son of God at the Incarnation.
Hebrews 2:7: Jesus was made "a little lower than the angels" by virtue of His Humanity. It seems there is an order of created beings before God: the angels being above humanity, of which Jesus was made, thus subjecting Him to being our equal.
I thank you for discussing this and I consider you as a brother in Christ. I do not feel I have represented Scripture in any kind of mystical or spiritual way. I am not trying to convince you, but to explain my understanding. I believe Jesus was a man same as the first Adam without sin, 1 Cor. 15:471 Timothy 2:5 Jesus is the only begotten Son of God miraculously conceived, born of the virgin Mary, Matthew 1:20Acts 17:31Rev. 12:5
Take Hebrews 1: 5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father? How could God say I will be to him a Father and he shall be to me a Son if Jesus eternally existed with the Father.
Hebrews 2:7 from Psalms 8:5-6 God the Father made and set Jesus His only begotten Son over all His works of His hands this tells me the Father is the creator. 1 Corinthians 15:24-28Philippians 2:9. To me that is simply saying God the Father is superior and they are not coequal, God the Father highly exalted Jesus His Son.
Christ means He is the Anointed One nothing is above God so God cannot be anointed or anoint Himself, God is the one who anoints, as Jesus was anointed with the full measure of the Holy Spirit/Ghost when He was baptized by John the Baptist. We also see in 1 Corinthians 11:3 This to me shows they are not equal, and God the Father is the head over all.
1 Peter 1:19-21 If Jesus preexisted how could he be foreordained? Eph. 1:10
Chris, I may could say more, maybe we can pick this back up again, but I hope you have some idea of my understanding, this is not to end this but just to pause I hope that is ok.
Jesus to me is Devine He is the Devine only begotten Son of God. He has been placed over all that is in heaven and earth and every knee will bow to Him. You do not think He had a beginning; I believe His beginning was in God's plan before any creation and was brought forth in the fulness of time.
So Who is this Jesus? A creation from Mary's womb, another deity in Heaven alongside God, or from the Person of the One God Who was the Expression of God's Love through His Life & His Death. I believe that God sent forth that part of Himself, as He does with His Spirit, to become man "for the suffering of death" ( Hebrews 2:9). And now Jesus receives the worship as only God must receive ( Revelation 5:11-14), when prior to His incarnation, all Glory was His within the Person of the One God ( John 17:5).
Sorry for this long post - you had posed many good questions, which I'm unsure that fully dealt with your expectations. Blessings.
As Believers, we know that the LORD JESUS CHRIST is our only answer for the trials and troubles we are going through today in the Middle East and in our nation here in the USA. Let us, as saints, be faithful, diligent, and obedient to HIS Word.
Hebrews 2:
1 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.
2 For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;
3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;
GOD bless our leaders in DC with the mind of CHRIST through HIS salvation. The LORD to shine HIS face on our state and local leaders in CHRIST name. Bless our pastors and true believers to lift up HIS name at all times through our conversation, witness and testimony.
You gave your understanding that in Hebrews 2:17-18 Hebrews 14:21 John 4:2-3 to mean that Jesus was a living soul like you and me except He was anointed without measure with the Spirit of God?
Ronald, I don't hold the view that Jesus was a living soul.
Jesus wasn't born of Adam. He was of the seed of the woman! (That is very different and have meaning of specially done! Something I want have time to get into at the moment. Perhaps others would.
You mentioned Hebrews 2:17-18, Hebrews 2:14 and 1 John 4:2-3. Those scriptures say the Jesus came in the flesh.
Yes, he did!
1 Timothy 3:16 tells us who came in the flesh and where he returned.
"And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
He came to condemn sin in the flesh as our Kinsman redeemer, something only he could do, "being of the seed of the woman" and not of Adam.
These are my beliefs Ronald.
I will speak on the kinsman Redeemer when time permits.
If I may ask, not to debate but just for my study and better understanding, Your reply to GiGi, It had to be the last Adam; A life-giving Spirit!! Not a living soul. This comes from 1 Corinthians 15, "the last Adam was made a quickening spirit". Forgive me if I misunderstood what you said (not a living soul).
I understand Jesus was made a quickening spirit when He was resurrected. What do you mean by not a living soul? My understanding is that in Hebrews 2:17-18 Hebrews 14:21 John 4:2-3 would that not mean Jesus was a living soul like you and me except He was anointed without measure with the Spirit of God?
What does that mean and can anyone born of Adam do it?
If it means to judge against it or to sentence it. What is required to achieve this? Christ!
THE FACT THAT JESUS CAME IN THE FLESH AND LIVED A PERFECT LIFE APART FROM SIN DOESN'T DIRECTLY MEAN "CONDEMNED SIN IN THE FLESH"
It's the fact that he in doing so, he destroyed the power and penalty of sin is where and how he condemned sin.
(For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.) Romans 8:2,
Adam was a living soul.
There are those born of Adam. "At one time we all were"
Jesus "A quickening spirit" ( God manifested in the flesh,) Born from above! "God/Christ spirit".
For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
GOD MANIFESTED IN THE FLESH.
This life giving spirit of God in the flesh could not sin.
Christ didn't become a life giving spirit at Calvary.
Christ was a perfect Lamb "led" to slaughter. He didn't "become" perfect at Calvary!
An unblemished Lamb chosen for sacrifice is perfect before you sacrifice him.
Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; Hebrews 2:14.
Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
Christ done what the law could not do. Condemn sin in the weak flesh.
This is the sin in our members that Paul speaks of in Romans 7:23.
1 Timothy 4:10 For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the SAVIOUR OF ALL MEN, specially those that BELIEVE.
Hebrews 2:8 .... we see not yet ALL THINGS put under him .....
1 Corinthians 15:28 And when ALL THINGS shall be subdued unto him ....God will be ALL in ALL....
Revelation 13:8 And all they that dwell upon the earth SHALL WORSHIP HIM, whose names are NOT WRITTEN in the book of life of the Lamb, slain from the foundation of the world.
Psalms 86:9 All nations whom thou has made shall come and worship before thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name.
Psalms 22:27 All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD: and all the kindreds of the nations shall come and worship before thee.
Revelation 15:4 Who shall not fear thee, Oh Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee, for thy judgements are made manifest.
Hebrews 2:14 reads "Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
Listen to Jesus in John 14:6 "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
I hope this helps
This verse seems to make the case that Jesus Christ was our (humanities') brother before the incarnation! That is truly a mind-boggling piece of theology.
Hebrews 2:18
"For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.
1 John 3:24
"And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us."

Pt. 8
See Pt. 9
Hebrews 3:1 - Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;
The Jews were started with Abraham.
Genesis 17:9
By faithAbraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,
Romans 4:16
Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith ofAbraham; who is the father of us all,
Ray, in Christ Jesus 1 Corinthians 15:1-4
God bless,
RLW
2 Timothy 3:16,17
Part 4.
See Part 5.
Have a good and safe week, God bless,
RLW
"Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, "HE ALSO HIMSELF LIKEWISE TOOK PART OF THE SAME;"
(I'm not sure but in the English this looks like a conscious decision he made before he came into the world!
If so, here's the reason for the premeditated decision.)
"that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
"And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast REDEEMED US to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;
Blessings.
God bless,
RLW
Thank you.
SUF'FERED, participle passive Borne; undergone; permitted; allowed.
Blessings!
The miracles Jesus did were not by His power but by the power of the Holy Ghost that God the Father gave to Him without measure John 3:34-35 Acts 10:38 Jesus said many times it was not His will but the Father's will who sent Him, and He also said the words He spoke were not His but the Father, John12:49-50 That is why Jesus's name is called the Word of God, Revelation 19:13.
Now after God raised Jesus from death, He is at His Father's right hand on the throne of God and has been given power of the throne over all until the last enemy, death is under His feet, Ephesians 1:19-23 Revelation 20:14.
I know you may disagree but that is how I understand it.
God bless,
RLW
We are to hold fast in our faith to the end.
God bless,
RLW
Part two,
Hebrews 2:7 Jesus was fully human and was tempted just as we are Hebrews 4:15 God cannot be tempted, James 1:13. 1 Corinthians 15:24-28 Philippians 2:9 again my understanding is all was in and through Jesus in the plan and forethought in the mind of God, logos.
Love you brother and God bless.

Onto Page 2.
I thank you for discussing this and I consider you as a brother in Christ. I do not feel I have represented Scripture in any kind of mystical or spiritual way. I am not trying to convince you, but to explain my understanding. I believe Jesus was a man same as the first Adam without sin, 1 Cor. 15:47 1 Timothy 2:5 Jesus is the only begotten Son of God miraculously conceived, born of the virgin Mary, Matthew 1:20 Acts 17:31 Rev.
1 Corinthians 15:24-28 Philippians 2:9.
God bless,
RLW
Blessings.
Hebrews 2:
1 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.
2 For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;
3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;
GOD bless our leaders in DC with the mind of CHRIST through HIS salvation. The LORD to shine HIS face on our state and local leaders in CHRIST name. Bless our pastors and true believers to lift up HIS name at all times through our conversation, witness and testimony.

Part 2.
You gave your understanding that in Hebrews 2:17-18 Hebrews 14:2 1 John 4:2-3 to mean that Jesus was a living soul like you and me except He was anointed without measure with the Spirit of God?
God bless.
My understanding is that in Hebrews 2:17-18 Hebrews 14:2 1 John 4:2-3 would that not mean Jesus was a living soul like you and me except He was anointed without measure with the Spirit of God?
Thanks, brother,
God bless,
RLW
God bless.
God bless you
