Discuss Romans 10

    Amen KsK.

Hebrews 10:38-39 reads, "Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.

BUT WE ARE NOT OF THEM WHO DRAW BACK UNTO PERDITION; BUT OF THEM THAT BELIEVE TO THE SAVING OF THE SOUL.

As for blind faith, the Lord never asks us for blind faith.

Faith is not a leap in the dark.

Faith rest on real knowledge, it is substance that we have faith in. "God's word!"

Faith originates from hearing the Word of God ( Romans 10:17

Hebrews 11:1reads "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

The word evidence is the Greek word "elegchos" which is a legal term meaning "evidence that is accepted for conviction.

I believe God wants a foundation under our beliefs, which is provided through supernatural signs.

True faith rests upon God's trustworthy character and His revealed Word, not on a lack of understanding or evidence.

    Abraham was given covenant promises.

One of those promises is seen in

Genesis 22:18 "And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.

Abraham was given other verbal promises including a Davidic Kingdom and he was promised a Son from his own bowels. (Issac)

This miraculous birth was not by the will of Abraham but by knowledge of the verbal promise and Abraham believed.

We're also Children of promise. Galatians 4:28.

We can trust and rest on God's word.

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

That WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH IN HIM should not perish, but have eternal life.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that "WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH IN HIM" should not perish, but have everlasting life.

    John 3:14-16.

    Running out of space.

    Hi Jaiwin,

I have prayed for you that you will be healed, whether this is biological, emotional or demonic. Also, that God will bless you with His love and comfort and peace.

To clarify your concerns about the Holy Spirit: He is already in you if you have followed Romans 10:8-9. "But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."

Baptism does not provide salvation, nor trying to purify oneself. Only Jesus can purify us through His perfect, sinless blood. ( John 3:16). You already said that you trust in Jesus and that He alone can set you free. So with the same faith, believe the Holy Spirit is with you in this fight. He is because Jesus said so. "But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things" John 14:26

I pray also that these Scriptures help you stand firm in your faith. I suggest you read them in context for yourself. Jesus will help you through this. You are loved. God bless your family and you.

    Hi SKD.

    Those who went against God?

If what you are asking are those who didn't believe in or have faith and do what was provided for them for salvation lost and condemned. I would say yes.

That is not just the Israelites in the OT, or the Gentiles in the OT.

It goes also for the Israelites today and the Gentiles today.

The Israelites before the crucifixion of Christ had to express their faith by the works of the law in their sacrifices and rituals pointing foward to one who would come. ( Their Messiah! )

This is called the dispensation of the law which started at Exodus 19:5 and ended at John 19:30.

This is what Paul is saying in Romans 10:4.

It is also important to note that the Law of Moses was given only for the nation of Israel.

( Exodus 19:3-8; Deuteronomy 5:1-3; 4:8). Jesus made it clear that it was given to Israel and not the Gentiles ( Mark 12:29-30). The apostle Paul said the Law was given to Israel and not the Church ( Romans 2:14; 9:4-5; Ephesians 2:11-12). The dispensation of Law is over.

While the Abrahamic Covenant continues and has not yet been completely fulfilled (even to this day),

As for Hell, It is not open for business yet.

According to the book of Revelation, the Beast and the false prophet are the first to be cast into the lake of fire. Revelation 19:20.

    I hope this helps.

    Hi again Godwin.

Reconciliation with God are achieved solely through Jesus Christ, not through human works, merits, or any other means!

Also studying the Bible, reading the Bible is how we grow!

It's NOT how we become saved!

Reading the Bible is crucial for spiritual growth and understanding God's will

    Salvation is eternal life!

John 14:6 Jesus said "I am the way, the truth, and the LIFE: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Jesus is life "eternal!" When we recieve Christ we recieve LIFE!

We receive eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ and His finish work on the cross.

Romans 10:9-10 reads, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

When we truly trust our life in the work of Christ where he died in our place we become joined with him in his death! ( Romans 6:3 )

When Christ rose from the dead we are Identified with Christ in his ressurection!

    That's baptism by the Holyspirit!

You've been Identified by the death and ressurection of Christ! ( Romans 6:4-6.)

This doesn't mean you are ever going to be perfect in this life but it does mean there will be change and that change starts in the heart!

A born again believer is given a new heart, one that no longer wants to sin or be around it.

He may stumble but he is no more a habitual sinner because when he recieved Christ he recieved Christ's Spirit that will no longer let him live in sin.

Godwin no one ever has stopped any sin on their own!

Sin is in the old heart before the act is done.

Godwin if you can trust and believe what Christ has done for you you will receive Christ and Christ is salvation.

Your sanctification is a life long journey.

    God bless you.

    Welcome to the site!

You said you don't own a Bible.

That is something you will need to grow in the grace of our Lord and to come to understanding with faith "FROM God"

    1 Peter 2:2.

You are right in that what you said.

"God does not reject anyone by outward appearance.

We are separated from God by our sin nature.

Our sin nature is inherited at birth, going all the way back to Adam. Romans 5:12.

It's the heart of mankind that God looks at.

    1 Samuel 16:7.

Here is what the Bible say about the heart.

"The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

    Jeremiah 17:9-10.

Psalms 53:1-3 gives a good description of the state of man at his best when he is separated from God and again this separation is at birth!

    Here's the Good news!

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

That "WHOSOEVER" believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that "WHOSOEVER" believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

For the scripture saith, "WHOSOEVER" believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

    Romans 10:9-11

    You noticed I emphasized WHOSOEVER?

    That's an invitation to everyone!

That's what makes the Good news Good news!

    Blessings!

    Hi Kynsley,

I have prayed for you. What an exciting time!

Romans 10:9 "That if thou shall confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."

In order to acknowledge Christ Jesus, we have to acknowledge our sins and that He died for our sins. If you have done this, and the above verse, you are saved! Walk in faith knowing this. He has repaired your relationship. Your faith is all He asks. Salvation is His gift. Then, love Him with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength.

    God bless you!

The church and God's conditional covenant

God provided His Son for our salvation; thus determining the one parameter necessary for saving His elect and man is commanded to repent and believe ( Mark 1:15); as well as verbally confess AND believe in their heart ( Romans 10:9 with emphasis on the second issue the heart). Finally baptism I would argue is necessitated as part of this public confession being demonstrated by our association and experiential death; burial and resurrection with Christ (see Romans 6:4 and subsequent scriptures on the subject).

I am not here to argue on whether someone is saved if they die between that verbal confession and heart change and the time set for Baptism; I will say that one should expedite it ASAP in obedience; as good fruit in general needs to be a hallmark of faith.

More broadly; of course we all need to test ourselves to see if we are in the faith; so that actions such as Baptism or confession may not truly have been the result of saving faith. ( 2 Cor. 13:5). Good fruit as seen by the Parable of the sower and the seed is crucial and necessary as God Himself has prepared these good works for us from before our creation ( Eph. 2:10).

This is a key concept; that what we do should be empowered by the Spirit of God and not self righteousness. Outer actions therefore are important but the state of the inner man determines spiritual rewards. Therefore our works don't save us but are needed to bare witness to a new nature motivating and guiding us to a lost and dying world.

God's covenant through the church ensures every true believer is truly saved but there are varying degrees of rewards based on obedience and these result in "crowns" for those in leadership for obedience; martyrs; those patiently waiting for His return; etc.

As Revelation 3:11 shows the Philadelphia faithful church rewards can be taken by another. Some things are a good thing to covet but no one gains the prize by character assassination of another.

Political correctness in church: The church is not a democracy

The majority wins. That's the official mantra of the system of government which; in theory is part of the foundation of our voting system (in reality it is the congressional vote which determines winners; and a third party doesn't stand a chance).

We can compare this to a system such as the Pre Revolutionary British Monarchy that ruled our part of the world before we declared Independence where the Aristocracy ruled with their own interpretation of a church and state sort of reign. Neither type of system should be that which governs the local church.

That; of course is often the reality today; we have in megachurches a corporate leader with a few in the inner circle who act as a sort of glorified Robin Hood in the opposite direction; stealing from the poor and giving to the rich and in turn convincing the masses including those in impoverished regions in Africa that they will be blessed by giving; such are those deceiving and being decieved ( 2 Tim. 3:13). We have other houses of worship with similar behavior that pressure giving for legalistic reasons.

The opposite of this situation are places where anarchy basically reigns with whatever the masses want to believe being tolerated where we are asked to simply believe in His name with no change of the heart required ( Romans 10:9). This is clearly a violation of proper shepherding by those in the teaching and elder camp of authority along with an abregation of duty for proper discipline outlined by Christ ( Matt. 18:15); as well as the needed "judging" of certain actions within the church ( 1 Cor. 6:7) which should have been employed rather than boasting of the man involved in gross sexual sin ( 1 Cor. 5:1).

Thus we hear in church to vote for the lesser evil but would we want to do that if it involved someone in authority over us in the church? Would we prefer an adulterer to a thief?

    More in the next post...

Hello Lbooth1955. You've received good replies, to which I also agree. However, in attempting to read deeper into your brief question and what prompted it, I wondered, 'were you referring to the actual time that Christ called them 'apostles' and other references to that name, or to the time post-resurrection and Pentecost, when these apostles were without their Lord present & began to do all that they were taught and commanded to do'?

So if your question was to the first part of my thoughts, then Scriptures such as Luke 6:13, Matthew 10:2, Mark 6:30, Luke 22:14, and others show to me that these disciples (Gk. learner, pupil) also named apostles (Gk. messenger, one sent out), though dear to the Heart of the Lord, were by no means a part of the Body of Christ (as we understand this Body that was later formed, Romans 12:5). While they remained & served under the Old Covenant they were simply a motley group of individuals, specially selected by Jesus to learn, to experience the Son of God first-hand, and to increase in faith and love, so that when they would be transformed & "endued with power from on high", they would be the very first 'founding members' upon which the Church (the Body of Christ) would be built upon ( Ephesians 2:20).

In summary, under the Old Covenant, though called 'apostles', these men were not "included in the Body of Christ". But when the New Covenant in Christ's Blood was ushered in and all who came in faith trusting in that Sacrifice wholly for salvation, those apostles were indeed the very first to be included into Christ's Body, the Church; and upon which we stand today, or ought to stand, without any reference to the Old Covenants, Laws, and ceremonial requirements, which ended at the Cross ( Romans 10:4,5). Thus apostolic teaching remains very relevant to us now and does our Lord's; when these are altered, as some 'churches' have done, devising their own doctrines, they declare that the apostles are irrelevant even denying their Lord. GBU.

In Matthew 5:17 Jesus declared, "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill." From a dispensational view this statement is vital. Christ, in His earthly ministry, ministered to Israel under the Law ( Gal. 4:4). His purpose was not to abolish the covenant given through Moses, but to complete it by perfectly keeping its righteous demands and fulfilling its types, shadows, and prophecies. The Law pointed forward to Him as the true sacrifice, the promised Messiah, and the One who alone could bring righteousness.

Yet, while Christ fulfilled the Law, this does not mean the believer in this present dispensation is under the Law. Paul makes clear: "For ye are not under the law, but under grace" ( Rom. 6:14). The cross was the great turning point. By His death, the handwriting of ordinances was taken out of the way ( Col. 2:14). Christ's fulfillment brought the Law to its intended end, so that righteousness is no longer sought through works of the Law, but by faith in His finished work.

For Israel, the Law remains tied to their covenantal relationship and will play a role in their future kingdom restoration ( Jer. 31:31). But for the Body of Christ today, the Law is fulfilled in Christ and we are placed into Him, accepted in the Beloved apart from Mosaic ordinances. Romans 10:4 sums it up: "For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth." Thus Jesus fulfilled the Law in His earthly mission, and Paul reveals the dispensational truth that we now stand complete in Him, under grace, not Law.

    Hello Lbooth1955,

This is not intended to spark a debate; rather, it is something to consider when studying Paul's and James's teachings. Paul emphasizes that salvation comes solely by God's grace through faith in Jesus, and we are not justified by the deeds or works of the law, as seen in Romans 3:28 and Ephesians 2:8-9. We must understand that nothing we do can earn our salvation. We are not under the law but under grace.

Do they contradict? When we read and study Scripture, we must do so in its proper context. 2 Timothy 3:16 states that all scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness.

James does not claim that works of the law are what justify us; rather, the results of genuine faith, such as charity, are what validate it, as shown in James 2:15-16. Paul teaches that salvation is not earned by any effort of ours or by following religious law. James is not opposing salvation by grace through faith; instead, he emphasizes that works are evidence of a changed life characterized by love, mercy, and obedience.

Paul speaks the same but different wording in 1 Corinthians 13.

Romans 10:12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

    God bless,

    I agree Gerald,

The Scriptures teach many doctrines and we should learn these and consider them when interpreting any portion of Scripture.

Also, the Scriptures do not teach contrary truths. So we should search Scriptures even more if it seems that Scriptural teachings contradict one another.

As to what I posted on Galatians, I also would like to refer to Paul speaking in Romans.

In Rom. 4:11-25 speaks again of Abraham and his fatherhood. Paul clearly says that he is the father of all who have faith as he has whether circumcised or uncircumcised. His faith was in God who would raise the Son from the dead, that is Jesus, (vs. 23) as Abraham was given the gospel during his lifetime and this is why he believed that Isaac could be resurrected after he sacrificed him in obedience to God. He had been shown Jesus and His life, death, and resurrection. ( Jn. 8:56-59).

in Rom. 9 Paul states that not all who are of Israel are truly Israel. Paul sees Israel as a chosen people of God apart from ethnic Israel. (see vs. 8) and He again speaks of those which are of the flesh and those which are of the promise (Isaac) as he did in Galatians. In vs. 23-26, Paul identifies both Jews and gentiles as God chosen children. And in vs. 27, Paul speaks of ethnic Israel that only a remnant will be saved, quoting both Hosea 2::23, 1:10 and Is.10:20-23.

In Romans 10:12 Paul again says that there is no difference between the Jew or Greeks (Gentiles), for Jesus is the same Lord who is rich towards (gives salvation) to all that call upon Him. The promise and blessing of Abraham is a spiritual blessing, being counted as righteous before God, and so it is with all Israel, the promise and covenant is one of salvation and a spiritual dwelling with God.

Rom. 11 speaks about God keeping a remnant from ethnic Israel, all whom He foreknew, having been chosen before creation, according to the election of grace (vs.2-5) See pt. 2

    Part 2.

There is a lot to consider here in Romans 10:13-18 concerning the Gospel and the recipients.

Paul calls it the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

Paul says "whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Paul says "their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world'.

Just in these 5 verses "13-18" you see there is an expectation to respond to a message you have heard that went throughout the world!

In 2 Peter 3:9 Peter says" is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Repentance here is turning to God!

When you do that, you have turned from something! In this case "for salvation" It is unbelief.

If repentance is required of everyone, the invitation and ability to receive is to everyone.

If God so love the world but only died for the elect and is going to cast the rest in hell that makes no sense and must be interpreted another way.

If Christ died for the whole world. And not just the chosen then opening the ears to a few to receive and leaving the rest blinded makes no sense and would also have to be interpreted another way.

Considering we have a Just God, and God is not a crooked Judge where he slips some out the back door to escape judgment and leave the rest of his creation behind to burn in the lake of fire forever goes against all that he is and against his word!

John 3:17 "For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

Also, let's not forget that John 3:16-17 is addressed to THE WORLD, NOT TO HIS CHURCH!! "The called out ones"

IS A RESPONSE BY FAITH TO THE GOSPEL NECESSARY?

    Part 1

There are those who doesn't think so. They believe that "BELIEVING' is an act of works.

However, throughout scripture it suggests otherwise.

John 5:40 And ye will not COME TO ME, that ye might have life.

John 7:37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him COME UNTO ME, and drink.

HE THAT BELIEVETH ON ME, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

Revelation 22:17. And the Spirit and the bride say, COME. And let him that heareth say, COME. And let HIM THA ATHIRST COME. (AND WHOSOEVER WILL), let him take the water of life freely.

    But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

That if thou shalt CONFESS WITH THY MOUTH THE LORD JESUS, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Romans 10:8-9

The invitation also went out to Israel!

BUT THEY HAVENOT ALL OBEYED THE GOSPEL. For Esaias saith, Lord, WHO HATH BELIEVED OUR REPORT?

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world. Romans 10:16-18.

It amazes me that some say God is done with Israel because they didn't respond to the call, but they say there is NO response necessary for the Church.

Paul answers that in Romans 11:20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:

There is another group that believe that God only gave ears to hear to a few. "the elect" and the rest of those God loves is left to enter everlasting fire. Makes sense?

    See part 2.

    James 1:5

"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him."

    Romans 10:9

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."

    Galatians 3:26

"For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus."

  • Calvinism is a lie - In Reply - 8 months ago
Calvinism relies on telling a few clever lies to convince their followers of their distorted teaching. The Bible itself refutes their ideology in the following examples:

Did Jesus die for all, yes or no?

    1 John 2:2 says YES

    John 3:16 says YES

    1 Timothy 2:4-6 says YES

    2 Corinthians 5:14 says YES

    Romans 10:13 says YES

    1 John 4:14 says YES

    But Calvinists say NO

Scripture saying Jesus did NOT die for all:

    [none]

The Word of God says Jesus died for "all" and the "whole world" and "everyone" in those verses above. All means all, and the whole world means the whole world, and everyone means everyone. But cult teachings will try to twist this and say all does NOT mean all, and the whole world does NOT mean the whole world, and everyone does NOT mean everyone. It's like the serpent in the Garden of Eden who said you shall NOT surely die. It's obvious who is on what side by how they either affirm or denounce the scripture.

Those who disobey and intentionally deceive others from the truth put themselves in grave danger of God's wrath.

The 2nd big lie told by some is that people don't have freewill to do anything whatsoever. Some contradict themselves by saying they still sin but isn't their fault, while others say they don't sin at all and are perfect like Jesus, an obvious lie that 1 John 1:8 makes clear. Verses like Joshua 24:15 that say for you to choose (Calvinists deny this means you're not choosing) or for you to open the door (Calvinists deny this means you're opening the door) Revelation 3:20 , John 7:17.

The biggest lie I hear many say about others- they claim others are trying to EARN their own salvation. That lie is straight from Satan. They know its a lie but will spread it anyway. They know that 99% of Christians believe in grace and believe it is a gift, not earned. But just because they believe God gave them a gift of choice like Joshua 24:15 says, they suddenly claim their motives are to "earn" heaven. So dishonest. Beware of wolves!

    A warning from Luke 10

13 "Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. 14 But it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment than for you. 15 And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted to the heavens? No, you will go down to Hades.[b]

16 "Whoever listens to you listens to me; whoever rejects you rejects me; but whoever rejects me rejects him who sent me."

These statements seemed to come out before these 70 were sent out; if not at the time they were out there. Whatever the case it shows how quickly the doom of these places was declared and that it appears they only had one fleeting moment (in general) to come to the truth. Of course this doesn't stop a few from coming to true faith but speaks overall of the cities and their mindset and overall lack of faith. It also reinforces the message given means rejection of Christ and God the Father as we see from the end of verse 16.

These passages also illustrate the RESPONSIBILITY people have alongside their predestined outcome. We can argue whether their reaction was predestined or their fate to not be able to believe. The fact is BOTH seem to be clear from scripture; just as faith comes from hearing the Word ( Romans 10:17) that is God's methodology to reach those elected; called and chosen or Predestined whatever word we wish to use to describe these things has the same concept. Or to put it another way we read in 2 Thessalonians 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

Hence; knowledge of the truth alone doesn't save. We still are given minds that intersect and commune with our souls and we make a public declaration of what is in our hearts through our mouth; also stated in Romans. With more knowledge we have greater judgment.

Thanks for responding The bible alone.

You stated, "The Fulness of the Gentiles will be completed when all of God's elect have been saved at the Last Day".

You are including Paul's kinsmen in the flesh/The nation of Israel in that group.

However, Romans 11:25 reads, "For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, UNTIL the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.

There's a sequence here you're leaving out! Israel is blinded UNTIL THE FULNESS OF THE GENTILES BE COME IN! It doesn't say the gentiles is blinded along with them!

Paul is referencing the Gentiles within the Church which includes Jews.

and his people which he foreknew. Pauls kinsmen IN THE FLESH. Not the Jewish Brothern in Christ or he wouldn't have said "Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.

For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.

For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness. Romans 10:1-3.

    Paul says in Romans 11:5

Even so then at this "PRESENT TIME" also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.

(THIS MEANS THIS GROUP IS SAVED NOW!)

    Verses 25-26 reads, "

"For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.

And so all Israel "SHALL BE SAVED": as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:

This is a separate group out of that nation and SHALL BE SAVED means future.

    God bless.

    Hey Lbooth1955,

All of Jesus's life was about fulfilling the law and prophecy; it is to the Jew first and then the rest of the world, Romans 1:16, Romans 2:9-10. Jesus clearly said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel, and He instructed His disciples to do the same, Matthew 10:6, Matthew 15:24. Jesus spoke to them in parables so they would not understand and hear, and be healed, Matthew 13:13-15.

You are correct that, as a nation, they would have been able to receive Jesus as the Messiah if they had repented, and then the kingdom could have been established at that time. However, God knew their hearts. They were expecting Jesus to set up the kingdom at that time, including the apostles. They asked Jesus if He was going to establish it then, Acts 1:6.

Their final rejection is shown when they cried out loudly and covered their ears, Acts 7:57. Though many disagree, this also fulfills the last seven years in the prophecy of Daniel 9, which many associate with the end times and the doctrine of the Rapture of the Church. This gospel of grace is offered to Jew or Greek, and unto the whole world.

There is no difference between the Jew and any other person of any nation, Romans 10:12. It took the apostles some time to understand this, as shown by Peter's reluctance and his dream. It may not be in our Bible, but I believe they all understood God's plan. This Kingdom will be established when Jesus returns, until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in, Romans 11:25.

    God bless,

Thank you Lbooth1955 for sharing an excellent commentary on Tithing. And even more than that, I get saddened when believers in Christ being led of the Spirit in ALL things, still find reason to appeal to the OT Laws to justify their walk with the Lord. All those Laws could only reveal the sin in the heart of every Israelite & had no redeeming value at all; in fact had an end date affixed to them: "For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth" ( Romans 10:4). "For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit" ( Romans 8:3,4).

How then do we (believing Jew & Gentile) attain the "righteousness of the law"? Only by the Holy Spirit, now indwelling in us, Who not only brings us into a state of submission to the perfect Will of God, but also to know & obey all that our Heavenly Father requires of us. And this obedience goes way beyond the Laws once engraven in stone but what has been given us by the Spirit ( 2 Corinthians 3:6-8). And His "ministration" goes deep within us showing us where obedience is lacking and needed in our lives & then gives us the power to obey - this "glorious" work the OT Law could never do, nor designed to do. Tithing may be a good rule of thumb for giving, but what the Lord seeks is an earnest cheerful giver (as you shared), as the Spirit directs us to the needs around us. Blessings and thanks again.

    Dear Lbooth,

Do you really think that risen and glorified Jesus would give the apostles before His ascension prophecy about them going to Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and the uttermost parts of the world ( Acts 1:8) after promising them that they would receive power from the Holy Spirit and was not able to make His prophecy come to past in the lives of the apostles when He said that He possessed ALL power and Authority? I do not doubt for a minute that Jesus' words were not fulfilled in the lives of these apostles which I would include Paul among them. There are several Scripture passages that do say that the gospel was taken throughout the known world (perhaps the reach of the Roman empire or hellenized or civilized or inhabited world is meant) during the time of the apostles ( Romans 10:15-18; 16:26; 1Thess. 1:8; Col. 1:5,6,23).

As to sources outside of Scripture, many of the leaders who came just after the apostles, many being appointed my the apostles tell of where the apostles took the gospel who lived in the 1st and 2nd century. I would believe such historical reports from the decades immediately following the lives of the apostles before I would seek wisdom in someone who lived thousands of years after the apostles lived, which would include you, Lbooth. I don't say this to offend you but to highlight that you who doubt the witness of early church history because it is not recorded in the Bible seem to think that your own extrabiblical opinion is better than that of these men who, in their own time would have been corrected extensively if what they recorded was erroneous.

That being said, I do think that extrabiblical historical records can help us understand what happened in the church from the time of Jesus' ascension up to their own time in the 1st and 2nd centuries because I do believe that Jesus was at work in the early church to build it as He promised and that His command and prophetic words to the apostles in Acts 1:6, Mt. 28:19-20, etc.

    Hebrews 8:10

"For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:"

Galatians 3:28-29 There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed and heirs according to the promise.

    Romans 10:12

"For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him."

IMPORTANT question! ROMANS 10:9-13 VS 1 CORINTHIANS 15:1-4 for salvation. Hello there, why does Romans 10:9 and 10 say that we must confess the Lord Jesus with the mouth for salvation but 1 CORINTHIANS 15:1-4 (The gospel, by which also ye are saved) doesn't mention anything about confessing the Lord Jesus with the mouth for salvation? Does anyone know the answer? May God bless you

Dear all. Before I came to believe in Jesus, there were two things I would never discuss. (You are closest to yourself). The two things are Christianity and raising children. We shouldn't either.

I have thought about it as a Christian. And it is difficult to bow to your own view of life. And believe in what others serve. Then you actually find out that you may not have been completely right after all. Then you have to bite the bitter apple and in a way admit that you were wrong. Pride must be far from a Christian person. Also in a Christian church. This website is one of those. Our helpers here are equally valuable because we all know that we are in Jesus Christ. Everyone with different God-given gifts. It is a church. And when we speak the truth, our hearts will burn with the Holy Spirit like disciples when they say: Did not our hearts burn when he spoke. We trust that most of those who come by are Christians because they are seeking answers. And perhaps the Lord is calling them. Jac 5:19-20 I am not a Pentecostal today. But I still have many friends there who I pray for every day. They have learned that this is the way. Here is the truth for me. Discussions about the rapture and its condemnation. Because they believe that everyone else is wrong. Will harm an entire community of Christians who have had this teaching for years. They are just as Christians as anyone and everyone who seems to have Christ. But when they believe in something that is not fully confirmed, uncertainty grows and inequalities grow. We can never change this, not here either, if we argue until we are blue in the face. As a newly converted person, I saw these dubious sentences. It hurts, but when it is said Jesus will give us salvation. In the rooms of God's house. Joh 14:2He Is versatile, isn't he? Because we have one word that I came across today. These are words of comfort to me in days of inequality. Romans 10:9-11 Il love u all and i pray everyday always. Stay stong with peace in heart.

    Hi Azzan77,

Thank you for your reply. I understand and know the verses you have shared. Many on this site share the same understanding as you, and if we differ, we should be inspired to study, not to prove we are right and you are wrong, but in search of the truth. My understanding is that Jesus was the beginning of the creation of God, in the plan of God, Revelation 3:14.

Jesus was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, 1 Peter 1:20. Everything started with Jesus; God, knowing the end from the beginning, says things that have not been as they have been, Romans 4:17.

We should pray and clear our minds of preconceived biases, as Jesus said, "he who has ears to hear, let him hear." John 8:24 is the same with us today, if we do not believe Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, who God sent and He shed His blood and died for us, we will die in our sins, John 3:16, Acts 4:12, Romans 10:9.

    God bless,

Christian is the Religion of God to Believe inRomans 10:14 KJV

    Romans 10:14 KJV

[14] How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

My Interpetation: I allow God to use me to handle the word of God correctly and his testimony Revelation 12:11 KJV

[11] And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

Ways you can handle the word of God correctly is 2 Timothy 2:15 KJV

[15] Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Rightly dividing the truth is to understand, interpret, apply its teachings correctly which some methods I use are reading bible, praying, meditating on God's word and actions.

My Interpetation: I allowed God to use me being vessels as whole of his love messengers of the Gospel. A Result I become blessed - Habakkuk 2:2-3 KJV, Link Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV Link

Ways you can be vessels messengers are to preach the Gospel message of Jesus Christ and it is the same as to seed sown "power to take root and spread the message of salvation."

    Psalm 90:2 KJV

[2] Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.

My Interpetation: In my life I have and still until this day believe Jesus Christ is God from before and when the earth was formed until now and future.- Philippians 4:13 KJV

[13] I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
