Romans 13:11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
The Cantata Sleepers Awake by J.S. Bach says this: "Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme" ("Awake", we are called by the voice [of the watchmen]), (Wikipedia).
I recommend highly that many here take a few minutes to listen to his very uplifting organ piece.
At present we are sandwiched between the extremist rantings of those continually coming up with Rapture dates and those who are bypassing any concept or belief in that and embracing Dominionism; thus symbolically "hogtying" Christ from returning until the church is fully ready; thus creating a situation which is a self fulfilling prophecy of being left behind and substituting the true Messiah with a false one. No doubt the Devil is laughing all the way to the bank as it were; as souls are being bankrupted with either obsession at the moment.
The true church is clearly being attacked from all sides; those who have prayed for so long that the persecution won't come to us here in the good old USA have fallen for the other tactic of the enemy on a large part; that of ecumenicalism. Now I am not here to argue as to whether or not more good or evil comes out of what is being touted the start of a revival in this nation based on recent events. I will say that any rational minded mature believer can see both results as with any move of God the enemy is waiting in the wings to screw things up to the best of his ability. Personally I tend to avoid almost all big events; which goes along with my personality to some extent so I pray that I will be involved if and when God calls me in that direction. I will also say that ANY large scale movement that doesn't also correspond with persecution shows strong signs of not being from God (again notwithstanding individuals such as Ray Comfort for instance).
Hi again "A", thank you for getting through this time now anyway. And for providing feedback. There is something wrong, that's for sure. I wish I could help you more than just pray, but it's a bit of a long way. But I'm thinking: Don't you have any network around you at all? If you don't. Go to a crisis center. There must be people there who can help you and make these people disappear. It's bad enough that they've dragged you to court. I am so sorry and I feel your problem in my heart. I will continue to pray for you, lady. And do not lose the courage or the strength you have in your faith. Jesus, you know, He has overcome the world. And He lives in you, which means that you will also overcome in the end, one way or another. It will be as He wants and we will just have to accept it, no matter what it becomes. Remember that you are to be a witness of Him too, just like the rest of us. Then we carry everything that comes our way as best we can. I wish you luck on Thursday, it will be a good day, let's hope. Because what I know is that men shouldn't lay hands on women anyway. Remember that the Lord will fight for you. Exodus 14:14 Put it all on Him in Jesus' Name, Amen. And you must have some words of wisdom with you. Maybe you think they are hard right now, but I was reminded of them, and then you will receive them in love as they are in Romans 13:1-7 Love u and i wich u all the best luck.
Romans 13:9 "For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself."

You will know them by their fruits (see Matthew 7:15-16). These verses demonstrate false prophets and true with this distinction.
Let me say that it seems there is sufficient evidence that God does speak on occasion to individual servants. A person may receive a message but must avoid expecting experiences over service to God; fellowship with the saints and other things that giftings are supposed to do to edify the body of Christ. There are those who display much emotion; angst; and other emotions who are longwinded and oftentimes these are women. Indeed it seems probably 4 out of 5 that have messages are women. I tend to listen to those who are married and who have solid scriptural teaching in church; although due to some specific situations I have made exceptions if it is apparent there is no nearby fellowship where good doctrine is preached.
I will also state that sometimes God uses someone who preaches some truths even when later on it turns out they are preaching falsehood on particular doctrines. This has been a particular issue of late where a lengthy statement or proclamation is made that contains truth and no apparent error. There is a boundary as to women preaching at least as the scripture states where they are not to have authority over a man. This is why at least a husband in the faith or others should bring a balanced perspective.
As to within church walls; things like God's chastisement of those He loves; mandatory suffering for all true believers and other admonitions are often given a deaf ear. Someone actually delivering truth could be forced out and shouldn't stay somewhere that people want their ears tickled. Again it is hard for those with true discernment to find a place in ministry today; but we all need more of them in my humble opinion.
The easiest conclusion here is to admonish everyone to read the Word more and be looking up ( Romans 13:11) for His coming is very near.
Why do people teach the ten commandments when Jesus gave new commandments to go bye, as the young man asked Jesus which commandments to follow to get into heaven ( Matthew 19:17-19) Jesus said to get into heaven you must keep these commandments and out of his mouth comes, You shall not murder, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness, You shall honor your mother and father, and You shall love your neighbor as yourself. Also given to the Gentiles through Paul, 1 Thess. 4:2-3; Romans 13:9 as Jesus states in John 14:15 and 15:10. Satan is always getting people to follow old ways, just like he did with the Jews when they were under the ten commandments. God bless
I kind of take the "pineapple upside down cake" approach to the common fad of attempting to be appealing to the world to foster friendships in order to facilitate opportunities for Gospel conversations. Tonight in our usual online prayer group "vignette" sort of style the Pastor did his usual brief scriptural thought for the day regarding the book of Luke and the three times Jesus was "invited to dinner" with the Pharisees. The second passage had greater rebuke; the first time being for the "sinner" who was washing Jesus' feet with her tears starting in Luke 7:36; the second was Luke 11:37-54 which was the time Jesus gave the famous woes to the hypocritical Pharisees. The last meal in Luke 14 starting in verse 1 was probably milder in a sense; where it still had a rebuke about those that sit in seats of honor after Jesus' inquiry about whether it was lawful to heal on the Sabbath. In this case the hearts were so hard that no response was given. It only mentions that Jesus went to eat at the house of a prominent Pharisee; not that He was necessarily invited.
Jesus of course "hung out" with the "sinners" eating and drinking as well and summarily accused of excess of such actions.
That may or may not have been associated with the specific individuals He was said to have eaten with; such as Zachaeus in Luke 19:5 who Jesus basically instructed that He was going to stay at his house that day. Whether Matthew brought some of his friends as well we don't know.
My beef is to seek friends for the purpose of sharing Christ if we don't intend to keep them if they reject Him. Romans 13:8 says Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. We don't want to be trapped into long term obligations either if a paerson isn't doing all they can to make ends meet or squandering money on drugs or other illicit habits. Let us be wise as serpents; innocent as doves ( Matt. 10:16)
This seemingly insignificant tale of Peter finding a fish with a coin in it to pay for his and Jesus' expected tax (other versions say 4 Drachma coin; so it covers for 2 each due) surely has some meaning. The point Jesus brings up is for the children to make others pay tribute; in some "token" if I can use the pun true children of God shouldn't be subject to others but others subject to them.
Christ shows in His humanity that insulting someone should be avoided at all costs so greater good can be accomplished.
Matthew 22:15-22 discusses rendering to Caesar what is owed and to God the same. This shows again the same theme that we can also extend to Romans 13:7 for the church. This isn't a subject I will go into in great length here; I will say in short it is the exception rather than the rule when situations arise which we must take a stand for God and against the rules of men; particularly as Acts 5:29 illustrates when told to keep our mouths shut about Christ.
From here on several things are apparent. The miracles Christ was doing are shut down; except for the healing of the blind mentioned in Matthew 20:29-34. Secondly Jesus spoke almost exclusively in Parables at this point and third His greatest excoriation of the Pharisees was about to commence and this takes up the entire chapter 23 of Matthew.
Jesus was basically in his last weeks at this point which takes up about a third of the Gospels as far as I know (my estimate).
It reminds me in a strange way of Revelation as the final judgments seem to take the same space or more than the first but encompass weeks or maybe a few months at most. Our Lord had to focus on the Disciples knowing they would abandon Him and need to have strength to continue until Pentecost after the shock of the death of Christ who they had communed with and been shepherded by for several years. Surely Jesus didn't minimalize their grief but showed them it was for their greater good to die
In Christianity, the belief in the immortality of the soul has been influenced by ancient Greek philosophy, especially the teachings of two notable philosophers, Socrates and Plato. This philosophy views death as the separation of the soul from the body. Plato described the body as a prison for the soul and saw death as a means of freeing the soul.
This philosophy of death started blending in the church in the second-third century, some saying the good souls go to heaven, but the bad souls go to hell. Augustine of Hippo, a theologian and philosopher who was made a saint, held this philosophy, strongly influencing the doctrines in the church in the fourth and early fifth centuries, and later John Calvin taught it.
Some interpret 2 Corinthians 5:6-9 to mean that when we die, we go to be present with the Lord. This interpretation is also linked to Ecclesiastes 12:6-7, this is not dependent on salvation, all human spirits, regardless if the person is saved or not, return to God because the spirit in man comes from God, Job 32:8, Zachariah 12:1.
The soul: The Bible does not teach that the soul is immortal, but in Ezekiel 18:20, all souls are God's, and the soul that sinneth shall die, in Matthew 10:28, hell is the Word Gehenna which refers to the Lake of Fire. As written in the Bible, in Genesis 2:7, when God formed Adam out of the dust of the ground and with the breath of life from God, Adam became a living soul, that is all of Adam, the complete identity of Adam, including consciousness, desires, and emotions.
When God breathed into Adam the breath of life, and he became a living soul/being. The Hebrew word for soul is nephesh, which means a breathing creature, not a spiritual entity. It can describe a person's soul, life, mind, will, and even our body, not one thing, but the whole of the person, the true self. 1 Peter 3:20, eight souls were saved. Acts 2:43, Romans 13:1

Romans 13:14 - But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.
The word provision in Greek means to think and plan ahead of time. Wow, does that strike home? My whole life, that's all I've done. My flesh says, "Man, you had me working for many years, all year long 8 to 5? We haven't had any time off. I think you need to travel around the world. That's what I think we need to do."
And I'm thinking that sounds great. But is it plans to follow the Lord? Is it plans to present my body as a living sacrifice to Christ? Or am I making provision for the flesh? And by following that, is it taking me away from the things of Christ? Very urgent, very serious message!
Romans 14:1 - Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations.
Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, and that's a command to receive the one who is weak in the faith, but not to doubtful disputations. Now we are to receive him, but not to doubtful disputations.
Doubtful is the word judgment in the Greek text. And the word disputation, DIALOGISMOS, where we get our word dialog from, is translated opinion.
Receive him, but not judging of opinions. In essence, we're focusing on believers not being able to see eye to eye on opinions. These are called non-essentials, non-essential issues, not pertaining to what the scriptures say, and not pertaining to moral issues. These things are addressed in God's word.
But we are to receive one another even though opinions might differ. We're not talking about beliefs. We're talking about opinions. The weaker brother or sister, they will have some opinions about what's right and wrong.
Romans 14:2 - For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.
For one believeth that he may eat all things: and another, who is weak, eats only vegetables. Lachana is the Greek word and it means vegetable. So, the word herb is the word vegetable.
The True Gospel is transparent to nationality or economic status or political standing. It has nothing to do with economic prosperity or with socio-political issues. When the churches become involved in political activism or social or economic issues, they forget that the task of the believers is to be an ambassador of the kingdom of God. When Jesus was placed on trial for his life at the behest of the chief priests, Jesus said to Pontius Pilate:
John 18:36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.
Concerning political rulers, the Bible commands in Romans 13:1-5 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.
The true gospel has been emasculated in our day as the churches have become more involved with the social and physical and political issues of the day, which in themselves have nothing to do with the true gospel.
Even more significant, virtually every church today proclaims a man-made do-it-yourself gospel of grace plus works where they will tell you how to become saved.
The TRUE GOSPEL is beautifully expressed in Eze 36 & Jer 29. God does 100% of the work of Salvation. Read Jonah 3 and Joel 2:12-14.
As a SPIRITUALLY ORDAINED and SANCIFIED MINISTER of Jesus Christ God Almighty, according to Romans 13:1-4, come as prophesied MANIFEST WITHIN ME, according to Isaiah 9:2, 6-7; St. Matthew 4:16; St. John 14:1-21, highlighting verses 20-21, and 2 Corinthians 4:1-7, I have recently sadly discovered that at least two (2) highly important chapters of the OFFICIAL KJV of the Bible of THIS WEBSITE have been wrongfully and shamefully removed, being 1 John chapters 4 and 5! I know for a fact they have been present this year. Suddenly they're now both gone! Please return these chapters of the Bible immediately, including any other chapters I'm not currently aware have been removed as well! Please note, the last chapter of the Bible, Revelation 22, verses 18-19, as it is written (KJV)
Revelation 22:18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
I have been saved at 2024, April 7th. It was a very big and straining experience.
I am new to this sit and hope I can find some advice as being a new Christian. The work of the Holy Spirit has lasted 3 days. This is His final salvation work in me.
My testimony is this, the Lord came down to me in my room and showed me a verse that read, "For now is our salvation, nearer than when we believed." Romans 13:11. Then I was hit with a spiritual crushing power that filled my soul with The Holy Spirit! I felt God's presence standing behind me and it was so great that I was unable to get up. After all was done, this was the third and last time of the Holy Spirit's salvation work in me, God had to help me to my feet. In a matter of speaking, I was half lifting myself and half lifted by the Holy Spirit. I felt peace when all was over and a joy in my soul!!!
My eyes were hurting from many tears and my head was aching. Today, I am striving to be as Christ-like as possible!!
This all happened for three days long. Yesterday was the last day! I hope you read this and rejoice as all of heaven rejoices when one is saved!
Necessary doctrines: Fruit vs non fruit bearing activities
When we get into practical things; for instance the last few chapters of Romans after the lengthy dissertation on the depravity of man (no one is rightous); and the "Gospel of Grace" related to covenants and the like; there could be a tendancy to discount our behaviors as being as important as these doctrinal truths. The fact is they are both important and we can't live bearing good fruit without following the truth and showing obedient love for Christ with our lifestyles. We only need to look at Luke 6:46 to see the importance of doing what He says; and John 14:15 which shows that if we love Him we will obey His commandments. The basic command to love one another is seen in both the Gospel of John and first John as a necessary mandate for a true brother in Christ. This should be a basic litmus test to draw out those who are Judas Iscariot's in our midst. These issues make things difficult when we follow such commandments as 1 Corinthians 5:11 where we are told not to even eat with one who is living in immorality or other sins as a LIFESTYLE or continuing pattern who calls themself a "Christian". This should eliminate many prosperity Gospel folks who are "swindlers"; and those practicing idolatry where a false Christ is worshipped at least in the midst of a given true fellowship of saints. There are times when we can witness to others who are in error if we are not worshipping where they are if we can have some control on the meeting situation. In short; producing good fruit is mentioned in numerous scriptures and thus only occurs with a true believer as the Parable of the Sower indicates. This is essential doctrine which is evidenced by those who are drowning in perdition due to the cares of this world overtaking them ( 1 Timothy 6:9; see also Matthew 13:23). The attitude toward authority covered in Romans 13:1-2; we are called whenever it doesn't contradict scripture to obey authorities.
In addition to God's laws, we are subject to laws and governors of our land, which God says he allows to be in power in Romans 13:1. Jesus said to give to Caesar was is Caesar's, showing a kind of respect for their authority. Governors and leaders duty is to protect people and if one person risks harming or killing many others, it seems logical for the government to remove that threat (sometimes by killing), to protect the many. Why should the innocents be punished further by having to pay for their room and board, entertainment, etc their whole life? The law used to be eye for an eye.
On an individual level I believe we must obey the commandment do not kill, but think God allows us to defend ourselves and others. I think it can be wrong to do nothing to stop evil. If we see someone committing a horrible act against a victim, and fail to act I believe some responsibility falls on us. There are laws against people spectating and not helping. But if we risk getting involved then it does risk bodily harm or death to ourselves or the perpetrator. But if potentially many more people could be harmed or killed, it seems the choice to do the least harm to people is to stop the perpetrator.
This somehow must be balanced with turning the other cheek. I don't know if that verse means willingly letting yourself to be killed, though. (like Jesus did)
Romans 13:1-7. You've asked a valid question from v2 & there are two ways of understanding it: is disobedience to the laws of civil govt bring on God's damnation or the condemnation by the dispensers of those laws? In context of the chapter, I believe that this applies to the latter, that of judgement by the magistrate. The Greek word here is 'krima', which applies to 'a judgement, a verdict, a condemnation'. So for whatever reason Paul is thinking of, the one who disobeys the laws, will face the judge (who sits under the authority of God for the good of society). So, one is not damned by God in this regard, but will be condemned by civil law, & yet God would expect us to be obedient to such laws, unless they are in opposition to His Own ( Acts 5:28,29), to His Laws we are subject first.
Philippians 2:12,13. The apostle writing to the Church, commends them for obeying the Lord, not only when he was with them, but also when he wasn't there; this shows that they were genuine in their faith & not 'putting on appearances' for Paul's sake. So this wonderful salvation that they possessed can never be allowed to become mediocre & lukewarm, therefore Paul encourages them to 'work it out', i.e. what they possessed should be continually worked out (in one's personal walk & in relation to others), and done so 'in fear & trembling'. Why fear? I see it as the outworking of our Salvation which is a very serious business, not given to flippancy & a lackadaisical view, but geared to pleasing the Lord in all things & ever ready to engage in battle with the tempter & seducer. True, we have 'not been given a spirit of fear', of what man or spirit can do to us, even because of overwhelming circumstances we might face, but of Holy Ghost Power, of Divine Love, & of a sound healthy regenerated mind. I trust you can see the difference in 'Fear' in these instances.
I struggle with my salvation. I see scriptures saying we have passed from death unto life. Do we stay saved? We aren't saved by works but by grace. We are to strive to live a holy life. But in Timothy Paul tells Timothy not to strive but to be gentle among all men. And it tells us in Romans 13:2 to obey the laws which God ordained. But those who break them without true repentance and confession will be damned.? Why is this? If we are Christian s why will we be damned? I'm not understanding this. It's scary to me. I can't rest. I deal with a fear of sinning? I know we are to walk out our salvation with fear and trembling. But Timothy 2:17 says For God has not given us a spirit of fear...... But of power and of love and of a sound mind. So why does one part of scripture tell you to fear and one doesn't? God is not confusion. Also I ask for prayers for my two Sons and grandchildren. Paul and Joshua. Needs out of sinfulness. Paul has acknowledged Jesus Christ as Lord and savior was baptized but fell back into a sinful life style. He's questioning if Jesus is really God. He wasn't holy ghost filled I don't believe. He was baptized in the father ,the Son and the holy Spirit. But others say acts 2:38 we should be baptized in Jesus name. Joshua is in a relationship with an girl who's not saved, she brought in tarot cards. Iv warned my son to get her out. He's slowly fighting this battle. He knows it's wrong. He wants what's right. He's confessed Jesus Christ as his Lord and ask to be saved ,but hasn't been baptized yet. I've ask God to move this girl out of his life. I've heard in my prayers " judgement is coming to your family." Why? God is full of mercy.ive pleaded with God to let us live. I'm trying to discern if it's God or Satan. I've lost my first Born two years ago to fentynal. And I heard this before she died. Why is God wanting to let us die in our sins.? Please help us. Kaddan, Tito, grandsons also needs saved. I have others too.
What a great read. Thank you so much for sharing this. You bring up a great point about the man being stoned to death for picking up sticks on the Sabbath. And yes, the Sabbath was given to the children of Israel as a sign between them and God. Have you ever noticed that out of all the 10 Commandments given in the Old Testament (Exodus Chapter 20), only 9 of them are given emphasis in the New Testament ( Matthew 19:18, Romans 13:9).
The commandment to keep the Sabbath day holy seems to be left out of the New Testament. I see no such commandment given to the church. There is no such commandment given to the church to keep the Sabbath day the way the Jews were to keep it. The Sabbath was part of the Old Covenant Law between God and Israel. The church was not in existence when this command was given. As Christians, are we under the Old Covenant law, or are we under God's grace? This is just a general question, no need to provide an answer as I'm sure I know your answer to this one.
To us today, it would seem quite extreme to see someone put to death for something as simple as picking up sticks on the Sabbath. Some say that we must keep the Sabbath day holy, but also say that it's okay to do certain things (even more than just picking up sticks), and that's justified if it's something they need. I wonder how many of today's Sabbath Keepers would be stoned to death today for the things they do on the Sabbath day, if they were to do those same things if they lived during the time the command was given?
We as believers have freedom in Jesus Christ. We are not to judge others regarding their view on keeping the Sabbath, regardless of which view one takes ( Colossians 2:16). And yes, our rest is in Christ Jesus, Amen!
Again, thank you for sharing this. I have been following along in this topic for the past week or so but chose to stay out as it seems to be a very sensitive subject with some. I'll just leave it at that.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all. December 21, 2023
Hello Bmccaugh58. The answers to your questions are actually found throughout the Bible (from Genesis to Revelation), because the Bible essentially shows us how far mankind has fallen away from his Creator (because of sin), the repercussions we face from living in such a sinful state, & what God has done to offer correction & help, or else, judgement. So, one merely has to read through the Bible (even in your daily devotions/readings) & will see how people, yes all of us, have done wrong towards God & man & what subsequently entails from that. Some will learn & be corrected & then restored - others will persist in their evil ways & face God's Judgement.
So, here are some passages to start you off, but in your reading of the Bible, God's Spirit will alert you to what you seek or even where some action needs to be taken in your own life.
These are just a very few Scriptures, reminding us that there will always be consequences for our actions, not just in our dealings with each other, but more importantly, as we stand before God. But this God of Love always gives sinful wayward man an escape route, from a life of sin to a life of holiness & love - and His Name is Jesus.
What does it mean to believe? What is the evidence that we believe? As Paul said, it is like running a race, when we start this race, we believe we are going to finish, and with God's Spirit we have all the determination and motivation we are not only going to finish this race we are going to win this race.
We are saved! We are being saved! We shall be saved! When we start, are all our sins forgiven, our past, present, and our future sins the moment we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior and are baptized? Is our salvation guaranteed and we cannot lose it or fall out of grace regardless?
We are saved. Eph. 2:5 When we accept the gospel and are baptized our sins are blotted out, Isaiah 44:22Acts 3:19 and we become a child/son/daughter of God, John 1:12 we are justified, made righteous by the blood of Christ and the Holy Spirit dwells in us, and now we begin a relationship through God's Spirit, and God and Jesus abide in us, 2 John 1:9. This is the start of the race, the beginning of our salvation.
We are being saved. Philippians 1:6 Hearing the Word one believes and is baptized into Christ they are made clean (justification) the work of grace, and the Lord will continue working in us until He returns if we abide in Him John 15:3-5. How does God complete his good work in us? Testing James 1:2-4, chastising Heb. 12:6-7 Our relationship. If we abide in Him, Jesus, and God abides in us. The branches bear the fruit of the vine, the vine produces the fruit not us/branch, sanctification. We are running the race Philippians 2:12
We shall be saved. Redemption and glorification. Our full salvation comes at the end, when Jesus returns. Luke 21:28 "being now justified" We started the race. We are being saved, "being reconciled" we are running the race, 2 Cor. 5:18. We shall be saved at the end of the race. Romans 13:11.
"1. Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. 2.Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation."
The grk "exousia" is more properly translated as "authority", than power (gkr kratos or dymamis)
So Paul asks christians to obey the authorities, in other words the Law of their land.
The above verse has been used in the past by all kind of rulers (kings, dictators, conquerors, ...even churches like the R/C church) who were trying to establish their authority on people using the belief of a God offered authority, The phrase "by the grace of God, king" relied on those verses and was invented to show to people the "divine right of rulers/kings". But when the Bible talks about " the powers that be are ordained of God", it means the characteristics that God put in people to make organized societies with hierarcy and subjected to rules. Not that God placed some people of His own will to rule others. The latter is true in democratic societies (since God respects our free choise) but not in dictatorships or conquerors or any other forced rule.
Romans 13:8 (KJV) Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath FULFILLED THE LAW.
Again I repeat!
Romans 13:8 (KJV) Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath FULFILLED THE LAW.
Could this be what Paul who was moved and inspired by the indwelling Holy Spirit meant by loveth?
Acknowledge that love is a COMMAND (Ro 13:8-10).
Agree that you have the spiritual resources to love others as God loves you (Ro 5:5).
Understand that loving others is normal Christian behavior ( 1Jn 4:7-10).
Realize that love is the Spirit's work (Ga 5:22).
Be fervent in your love for others ( 1Pe 1:22; 4:8).
Godly love should be our highest purpose and greatest joy ( Mt 22:36-40). As you love others, you glorify Christ and make Him known to the world.
Yet, there is "Holy hatred?" If you love good, you hate evil. If you love unity, you hate discord. If you love God, you hate Satan. That's why Scripture says, "Hate evil, you who love the Lord." ( Ps 97:10)
Christ nailed the laws and sabbaths to the cross! We are done with circumcision and uncircumcision. As Christians, we need to circumcise our hearts, live by faith, and love others as the Lord loved us and gave himself for us.
William MacDonald wrote [ 1Corinthians 7:19
As far as the essence of Christianity is concerned, circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing. What really counts is keeping the commandments of God. In other words, God is concerned with what is INWARD, not with what is OUTWARD. The relationships of life need not be violently forsaken by the entrance of Christianity. Rather, in the Christian faith, the believer is RAISED to a position where he is superior to all circumstances.] "Believer's Bible Commentary". Marion, IA: Laridian, Inc., 2021.
All this is one interpretation it doesn't mean there isn't room for others.
Romans 13:1-7 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing. Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.
1 Timothy 2:1-3 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
Ephesians 6:5-7 Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ; Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:
1 Peter 2:13,14 Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.
Consider that the KJV uses the word sleep for being dead awaiting Christ's return.
"Consider and hear me, O LORD my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;" Psalms 13:3 KJV
"For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him." 1 Thessalonians 4:14 KJV
"These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep." John 11:11 KJV
"Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed." 1 Corinthians 15:51-52 KJV
"And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed." Romans 13:11 KJV
The Bible talks about a "day" of judgment, rather than people being judged sporadically.
"Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world." 1 John 4:17 KJV
And it says no one escapes judgment- people often think they skip this for some reason despite what the Bible says:
"For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad." 2 Corinthians 5:10 KJV
So, when these verses are put together it seems like all will be judged on the same day (also consistent with the vision in Revelation) and that people won't go to heaven until they're first judged, and it then makes sense where it says the dead will rise to meet Jesus in the air. So, to me it all seems logical, what happens. Despite all this evidence in God's word, many people still prefer to believe something else that makes them feel good, however.

Part 1

May we be be prayerful for our leadership in DC and all the local authority YOU have ordained and placed in offices. Romans 13:1-3
LORD, bless YOUR saints to be powerful witnesses unto the lost and hard hearted.

Blessings!!!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all. December 21, 2023
So, here are some passages to start you off, but in your reading of the Bible, God's Spirit will alert you to what you seek or even where some action needs to be taken in your own life.
For "Consequences", see: Genesis 2:15-17; Genesis 3:16-19; Deuteronomy 28:1,2,15; 1 Kings 11:9-11; Job 4:8,9; Isaiah 59:2; Jeremiah 17:9,10; Matthew 27:3-5; Romans 6:23; Romans 13:4; Galatians 6:7,8; 1 Timothy 5:8; James 2:10; Revelation 20:12-15.
For "Correction", see: Proverbs 22:6; Proverbs 29:15; 2 Corinthians 5:10; Galatians 6:1; Ephesians 6:4; 2 Timothy 4:2; Hebrews 12:5-11; Revelation 3:19.
Part two
What does it mean to believe? What is the evidence that we believe? As Paul said, it is like running a race, when we start this race, we believe we are going to finish, and with God's Spirit we have all the determination and motivation we are not only going to finish this race we are going to win this race.
We are saved! We are being saved! We shall be saved! When we start, are all our sins forgiven, our past, present, and our future sins the moment we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior and are baptized? Is our salvation guaranteed and we cannot lose it or fall out of grace regardless?
We are saved. Eph. 2:5 When we accept the gospel and are baptized our sins are blotted out, Isaiah 44:22 Acts 3:19 and we become a child/son/daughter of God, John 1:12 we are justified, made righteous by the blood of Christ and the Holy Spirit dwells in us, and now we begin a relationship through God's Spirit, and God and Jesus abide in us, 2 John 1:9.
See part three.
For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing. Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.
1 Timothy 2:1-3 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
