So God sent forth His Word, clothed in flesh, in fulfilment of the prophecies about His Son Jesus, both in His coming & in His dying. Jesus perfectly kept God's Laws, as only He could, not destroying them, rather fulfilling them. He never proclaimed the cancellation of the Laws, as all Israel was still bound to it & would be judged by it. Sacrifices still continued even after Jesus' Crucifixion, until the Temple in Jerusalem was destroyed by the Roman army in AD 70. So the Jews were in a strait: they had to maintain their sacrifices even though these 'Christians' preached that Jesus' death was God's Sacrifice & animal sacrifices were no longer needed. This would have been a real stumbling block to any Jew wanting to believe in Jesus, not only as the Son of God from Heaven but also the Sacrifice of God for sins. So did God utter the words, "My Son has now made void the Law"? No, His sending Jesus to die for man's sins & Jesus' Own Words, "It is finished" tells us that all that the Father planned for man's redemption was now completed. The application of the Law ended - the need for sacrifices had ceased - only Conversion & Faith in the work of the Cross was needed.

But Jesus was Israel's only hope of salvation, since God sending His Own Sacrifice meant the negating of the animal sacrifices. If then Jesus annulled that system by being the Sacrifice & also annulled the Law by being the embodiment of the Law, that Sacrifice of His showed the end of the Law & sacrifices to them that put their faith in that Work on the Cross. See Romans 10:1-5. And particularly note, that Israel went about establishing their own righteousness (which came from trying to obey the Law), but not towards God's righteousness.

Well actually, the Law in itself never changed, but the application of it did. The Law given by God is unchangeable in that it came from God & was given to His people, Israel, so that they had God's Standards for living, for worship & for dealing with their sin before a Holy God rather than develop their own standards. If left to their own devices, they would quickly degenerate & behave as the heathen gentiles around them (i.e. pantheistic, carnal living & vain sacrifices (including human sacrifices) to appease their gods). So Israel needed a standard that reflected the Holy Nature & demands of their God.

Israel still failed God many times & they were often scolded by God, through His prophets, & also punished (the long lasting punishment was their exile into Babylonian captivity (Judah) & into Assyrian captivity (Israel)). So of what benefit was that Law? Apart from it being God's Standard for them, it was also meant to show them their sin & their inability to follow it to the letter ( Romans 3:19,20). So, as required by God, each year sacrifice had to be made by the High Priest as a propitiatory offering to God, to temporarily cover their sins & appease God's Anger. If they faithfully did this, God would not condemn them for sin & they could live & not die. But this Law was only for a time & for a reason (as stated above), looking forward to the time when the only acceptable Sacrifice would come, a Sacrifice that fully dealt with man's sin & it would be a permanent, once for all, redemptive Sacrifice. Hebrews 10:1-18 gives more detail on this.

I think in Matthew 5, Jesus showed that the principals of some laws were still relevant to every day living. If we try to live our lives in the Grace of God, without principals (for example) people would divorce each other, not even get married but still have children. Family units breakdown and the children grow up without guidance. Very much as it is Now.

People would look open issues of Lusts, and become consumed by it. Very muck like it is today with the booming porn industry. Society has pretty much thrown off restraints concerning that.

I think Jesus could see clear to the year 2020 and see what earths society would become. God gave us free will. Let's be honest ok? He knew what we'd do with that freedom. It takes Godly; strength built by the Holy Spirit, to turn us to Gods arms of protection against those behaviors.

Jesus reaffirmed what behaviors we should adopt and live our lives by, 24/7, year after year, until we die.

As Jesus chose twelve men to be His disciples, later apostles, the remaining eleven after Judas committed suicide, felt the need to restore their number to the original design. I don't think there was any compulsion for them to do this - it was just something they believed was necessary. Also, they may have remembered the Lord's Plan of sending them out "two by two" ( Mark 6:7), which would have made it awkward if they, after Jesus' ascension, would try & follow that rule. And the two nominations, Barsabas & Matthias had to be witnesses to Jesus' resurrection, & no doubt they were also among those that closely followed the Lord in His ministry & learned of what the Kingdom of Heaven required.

As well, the twelve were appointed by the Lord to minister to the Jews only ( Matthew 10:5,6), & we know that they did not leave aside an opportunity to minister to others (e.g. Acts chapter 10: Cornelius) as the Lord directed them. Whereas, the apostle Paul was specially called & commissioned to be a minister to the Gentiles primarily, but also to many others ( Acts 9:15,16) who would cross his path & before those he would one day have to stand.

If you are going to quote the verses from the Bible and it is not from KJV, then you need to put where you are read. Some of this does not add up to the KJV. And if you are going to quote the verse, quote the whole verse and not just half or 2 or 3 words.

I suppose the Holy Spirit can do that, but one should discern whether it is indeed of the Spirit or of the flesh. We can be truly joyous in our spirits as ministered by the Holy Spirit when we are caught up in the wonder & praise of our God & that may be reflected in different ways. For me, it has always been a quiet joy & satisfaction in my heart when being moved by the reading of God's Word or singing His praises (especially the old hymns, such as "The Old Rugged Cross"). Oftentimes, I actually find a tear developing as I recall what Grace has been afforded me to free me from the bondage & penalty of my sin. But to laugh aloud (or, uncontrollably as we sometimes see/hear about) is something that I've never been led to do, nor could I give judgement on those who do it.

That's an interesting observation & has merit. Of course, in normal rules of grammar, this may not be applicable, as the words 'will & shall' are used according to first, second, or third person pronouns. Yet in 1 Samuel 2:9, there is a clear use of 'force', & when put in the same sentence as in verse 9, it gives the reader the sense that the One Who "keeps the feet of His saints" does so with His Own Authority & Power, as opposed to the lesser being ("the wicked") who can only remain "silent in darkness" as he comes before the One with the authority.

Then in verse 10, "shall" is used again, when I would have thought, that "will" might be more appropriate, given the strength of the language used. Maybe though, the writer continues with the same thought as expressed in verse 9, showing that the wicked not only has to humbly & quietly remain in darkness before the Lord, but also be subject to being visited by Him through mishap & judgement. The wicked might deem himself to be the one in authority & by his own supposed 'wisdom & power' direct himself & the world's affairs, but he "will or shall" (depending on the writer's emphasis), recoil when confronted by the One Who reigns righteously by His Own Authority & Power.

Ecclesiasticus 12 verse 7 says," do good to the godly man and help not a sinner" or like it says later on in the chapter you could put a double curse on yourself. Christ gets the final word that goes along with loving your enemy because he said a man's foes should be of his own house. 1 John 3:4 tell you sin is transgression of the law. Matthew 5 :17 says he didn't come to destroy the laws of Moses; for if you would have believe Moses he wrote of me is what Christ spoke. The only law that was done away with were the law of sacrifice that dealt with sin and death. We have grace which is a time to change. So only the ones that can sin are the ones under the law: Moral, civil, dietary, ceremonial. Even though Christ let that Syrophenician woman eat the crumbs from the master's table he still only came to do Matthew 1:21. Helping the godly means giving tithes cheerfully and offering with freewill that only the priest can collect of their brethren so the nation's storehouse may be full. At one time only the Levites could collect the tithes and offerings but the order of Melchizedek made it possible for all 12 tribes to take part in the priesthood. So help the godly man and not a sinner.

Was it right for the aposles to pick another one in the place of judes ,as jesus later chose Paul to be the aposle. The one chosen by the aposles was was never heard of again ,but Paul wrote a great of the Greek scriptures.

Aaron Lane, I will tell you what I think. There is a battle in the spiritual realm (airplanes indicate that the action is in the spiritual dimension). It is a battle of world significance (as in 1942). Hannah's prayer in chapter 2 shows that only those whose faith is in the Lord win their battle. The proud, even though they are mighty on earth, eventually fail. The dream is meant for you to take heart and to intercede for the world's current events in faith that the "mighty" in their pride ( 1 Sam. 2:3) are fighting with broken weapons ( 1 Sam 2:4), while those who seemed to be overpowered are in fact "girded with strength" -- the battle is the Lord's and he alone has the power to "lift up" and to give strength.

The Lord is showing you how to pray. Jesus has promised us if we ask anything according to his will, God does it. He is basically doing for you what is meant in 1 Sam 2:8. He is lifting you up and inspiring a prayer that will be world-changing. He is acknowledging your humility and your passion for Good to win. By acknowledge God as the one who established the earth, you are more powerful than "the mighty" because "not by might does man prevail," but the battle belongs to the Lord.

In reference to "why do Churches baptize in the Name of the Trinity?" They use Matthew 28:19 as their directive for doing so. Though I suppose, given the use of the Name of Jesus only for baptising (as according to the portions you have cited), then this too would be appropriate because of apostolic/early Church precedent.

The Letter to the Hebrews is essentially the author's goal to demonstrate the superiority of Jesus Christ & therefore, of Christianity, to the prophets (1:1-3), to the angels (1:4-2:18) and to Moses (3:1-6). The rest of the letter gives Christ's superiority by His Priesthood (5:1-10:39) and by His Own Power (11:1-13:19).

But looking at Hebrews 1:4: Jesus status as the Son of God was a far greater status to that of angels. To no angel did God say, "Thou art My Son, this day have I begotten Thee". And when the First begotten came into the world, God said, "And let all the angels of God worship Him". This the Hebrews writer took from Psalm 97:7 and Deuteronomy 32:43, from the Septuagint version, though not in the Hebrew/KJV. So the Name of Jesus, as also His Divine Birth, made Him far greater than that of angels, which some might have proposed Him to be ranked with. And this Jesus came in "the brightness of God's Glory & the express Image of His Person, after He Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right Hand of the Majesty on High" ( Heb 1:3). I don't see from these Scriptures, or anywhere else, that Jesus ever took on the Person of the Father, rather at present He is seated beside Him in Heaven. Are you thinking of a Scripture when suggesting "Jesus inherits his name from his father which was Kept Secret in the Old Testament but revealed in the New Testament"?

"Shall" and "will" are a little hard for me to grasp. What would an excellent translator say is the distinction he is making when he chooses one or the other verb? And is it found in the original language? Or is it a distinction a skilled translator understands from context? When it says in 1 Sam. 2:8, "He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail," does the distinction between will and shall rise from the WILLINGNESS of the One who keeps his saints, while in the "shall" phrases -- to be silenced in the dark and to not prevail by strength -- these are UNWITTING CONSEQUENCES of someone's choice to act in such a way as to experience being silenced/not prevailing?

Especially in light of the U.S. elections result, I immediately re-visited the videos/scripts of recent folk such as Copeland, Robertson, Johnson, et al, to note that they still maintain that Pres. Trump is the winner & that God will do a wonderful thing in this intervening time to ensure this happens. Lest I assume erroneously, I, as others, are waiting for January to see what materialises. These men are standing on shaky ground but I doubt whether their congregants & others amongst their faithful, will allow their position to change for any different outcome.

I perceive the same as you: a declination of the faith, not just the U.S. but worldwide over many, many years, as hungry Christians focus on the personality & charisma exuded, rather than confirming their messages from the Word of God. When Christians believe anything fed to them, then the ground becomes fertile for all manner of errors to become Truth. So it shouldn't be too hard for the anti-Christ to persuade such 'Christians' to do his bidding. Matthew 11:8, "when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?" As many would "change the Truth of God into a lie, worshipping & serving the creature (in this instance, man) more than the Creator" Romans 1:25. Once the messenger of God becomes 'as God', then the downward spiral is fast & certain.
