Last verse, made me think that someone should destroy, blow up, Moloch the horned owl idol statute in bohemian grove California. Ever notice that when a man of God in old testament times destroyed an Idol a great move of God fallowed. I believe if Moloch the idol was destroyed in bohemian grove California, the great evil clutches of Satanists all across our nation would be defeated, including coronavirus.

I'm just going to throw this in the comments about the time of the Rapture.

This may be why we are told to be Looking for Jesus 2 Peter 3:10-12.

Matthew 24:22 says...and except those days be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elects sake those days shall be shortened.

Mark 13:20 says basically the same thing.

That's why churches are not able to agree. And that's why I believe that's why Peter said what he did. Jesus said for us to keep our lamps filled with oil. Be ready now!

It's not going to be until the two State solution for Israel ends up tossed out. The land is DEEDED to Israel and I don't think God is going to allow that to happen. Ya gotta read all those OT covenants. The land is needed for The Return: which is happening now.

You are very wise for wanting to take God's word for what it says. I think deep down, that is the desire of us all. We all want to take the word for what it says. But what happens when we all take the same approach that you take and we take it for what it says and then we disagree with each other on what it says? What then? How would you explain that?

In my Bible, at the top of the page, it lists the chapter speaking on: The Messiah Fortold.

The portion you question goes from Daniel ch 9 verses 16-37 are talking about the destruction of the temple and the end of sacrifices. Jesus is our sacrifice.

Chapters 10-12 begins the prophesies concerning latter days, the Antichrist 11:37

Pilate ask "what is truth?" The bible is written for all generations, not forgetting those yet to come. Jesus is being searched by Pilate for understanding on who he is. It's for different reasons than others may search for Jesus. So, when Pilate is asking what is truth, we too may be asking what is truth? Who is Jesus? What are the teachings and examples of Jesus? Asking for learning to be more like Jesus. As we read the bible aren't we searching for understanding and lesson to be learned? The point is, that's not just Pilate asking what is truth, but everyone seeking to know Jesus better asking. The truth is the light of God. "in Him was life, and life was the light of men." Jesus just prayed for us in the previous chapter to be within Jesus and within God, and for Jesus to be within us and God to be within us. So, everyone that hears or in our cases reads his voice is of the truth,we are within Jesus and God.We have the parables explained to us. Let us have ears to hear, eyes to see and hearts to receive. So, truth is God who never lies, and asking what is truth is also us trying to be closer to Truth and hear and know and understand Truth in our own Asking, Seeking and Knocking. And, to be filled with God, Jesus his son our savior and the Holy Spirit our guidance and comforter till Jesus comes again in which is he promised and never lies. And, that's the truth.

Jesse, no misunderstanding at all. My remark, "However, this wasn't the case in the early Church..." was simply an affirmation to what you stated. Your points were very clear & appreciated. Thank you.

Your understanding of the Mustard Seed parable was interesting though. I had never looked at it in that light, rather by the usual meaning: that the Word of God/Gospel being scattered/planted, & it would continue to spread out (grow) to the point of being a tree (i.e. a small tree/bush: wherein people that will become part of it, the Church) & the birds will lodge in its shadow (others will benefit by the Church, whether to hear God's message or receive comfort).

But I can see your understanding in view of the infiltration of evil into the Church. Indeed, the Church has become quite deformed today & increasingly lacking in its original design & beauty. Even though some adaptation to today's world needs to be made, I do also question to how far we have removed ourselves from her original design & purpose. But how do we get back to it? Start (another) Church? God forbid! Maybe, just to have a quiet influence in her through careful & methodical Biblical teaching & prayer.

And I could add another verse that could give more support to those who believe that our salvation could be lost: Heb 6:4-6. As you know, it refers to the 'believer' who falls away (turns his back to God) having once partook of Salvation, the Word & the Holy Spirit. When we examine this portion (& hopefully using the light given & not diluting with human logic), we understand that after the Hebrews writer rehearsed with the believers the things they had learned, he wanted them to go onto 'perfection' = greater maturity, leaving behind the "milk of the Word & to receive strong meat" ( Heb 5:12).

The writer adds verses 4-6 (I suggest, in parenthesis) reminding them of those who MAY have been a part of their company (this group's presence there is not certain, from the reading), who had received the Light from the Word, partaken of all that was taught to them or given to them & behaved nobly, but afterwards chose to reject all that they heard & received, they had placed themselves (by choice) in a position of no further opportunity for salvation (v 8). One might think that this understanding is an attempt to force the Eternal Security belief. However, the Writer goes on in v 9, "But beloved (the Hebrew Church), we are persuaded better things of you, & things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak": i.e. "I don't believe you are fake believers as those I've just described, but are genuine, who are maturing in the knowledge of Christ". My apologies for the paraphrase, but I want to emphasize my understanding here. True believers are secure in His Love & they can never be rejected by our Loving Father, nor can they ever choose to reject Him. And sadly, the Church is filled with both types, but it is the Lord Who remains our Judge of our hearts, not us. And sadder still, the Church often fails to preach Phil 2:12, so many enter into a false sense of security believing that "saved now means I can do whatever I like". A damnable teaching.

Jeff, your reply is very much appreciated. Jesse has echoed my understanding about Judas Iscariot's position, in that he, as all the disciples of Jesus, were just ordinary carnal men who followed the Lord & subsequently, at Pentecost, were baptized with the Holy Ghost & became 'Christians'. I could never give the Christianity label to anyone pre-Pentecost.

Re: "wouldn't a believer...". This was not intended to be an expression of my 'human logic' but one of deduction based on Scripture. Let's face it, we all have to make deductions/judgements on what we learn, or else we would be no better than robots, which just regurgitate (& maybe by use of mathematical calculations) what is fed into them. So I won't labour that point further.

And speaking of Judas: not only he, but all of the disciples could have walked away from the Lord, but the Lord knew that they wouldn't, except Judas, "Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil? ( Jn 6:20), as Jesse pointed out. And I appreciate the Scriptures you cited: they are very precious & relevant; none of them are 'dismissed'. And I refer to them now:

Mt 6:15: true. How can we expect God's forgiveness, if we fail to show forgiveness to others? A genuine believer will always forgive, or at some point (soon) experience that change of heart.

Mt 24:13: I believe in the 'perseverance of the saints'. In another thread, I had written about remaining true to the Lord despite all that may be thrown upon us, even to the point of laying down our lives (which Peter as a carnal, unsaved man failed to do, but after his salvation & at his martyrdom, he demonstrated a glowing testimony of his unswerving devotion to the Lord Whom he first denied). Our salvation & faith are proven, not only by the works that follow us (Js 2), but also how we finish the race. The true believer will live a fruitful life & never deny the Lord.

As a society we give importance to material things and attribute the greater our accumulation of them, as the measure of worldly success. Although throughout history, it can be seen that when someone dies, all of their worldly goods are left behind. Hence the saying, "You can't take it with you." Even so, it is an accepted ideology, that having a lot of material gain, is a good & needful thing. Yet at the same time, it is not without it's downfalls. Because it is also very common that in our social circles, that as time goes by, we get tired and bored of all our 'stuff' and begin wanting newer, better, higher tech'y things, never being satisfied. And in so doing, we begin to lose sight of more important things like being selfless instead of selfish, not thinking about others before ourself or making sure all of our needs are taken care of, before even noticing if anyone else is struggling in need. But, according to the Holy Scripture, "What does it profit a man, to gain the whole world but lose his own soul?" Mark 8:36 - Herein, is a clear message, that becoming enfocused in mainly looking out for ourselves, will ultimately cause us to forget that we too, like every other beast, eventually reach the end, 'our final destination'. What will have been, our own great contribution then? Who will remember us and why? If all we've done, is insure our own personal self-satisfaction & a highly prized collection of trophies, tokens and treasures to simply collect dust and finally ends up being inherited by another who places little value on them, only to be sold, given away or trashed.., as has happened w/an array of trophies after years pass & new trophies are put in their place. It is wiser then, "..to lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven where neither moth nor rust doth currupt and where theives do not break in to steal." Matt. 6:20 Let us therefore, in humble compassion, strive for the prize of His high calling, run the race and "having done all, to stand." Eph.3:16

The Word is our absolute and that we all agree.

This is one of my most lovely portions of the bible because the psalmist is giving us a wholesome assurance about FAITH IN GOD.

God is closer to us more than the air we breathe. We need Him to sit down, stand up, eat, speak, comb our hair, laugh, smile, cry, blink our eyes, walk, we need God to do everything. In Him we live, work and have our being.

We can only achieve this by praying every time in our hearts. This is referred to as SPIRIT PRAYER (Meditation),, and without holding on to any offence in our hearts (free spirit) , forgiveness - forgiving others of their wrong doings. Then we shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

Knowing God is a thing of the heart (spirit).

John 11:44 is kind of humorous to me. When I picture in my mind Lazarus coming out of the grave, and he is wrapped in little 3 inch bandages from his foot to his neck, and then he has got a towel over his head, and he is coming out like one of those mummies you see in the movies. He can hardly walk. He is bound hand and foot with grave clothes: and his face was bound about with a towel. Jesus said unto them, Loose him, and let him go.

Basically, Jesus is just telling them to unwrap him and let him go.

I believe they are both the same thing. The day of the Lord or day of Christ is not a specific day. It is a time period that God has set apart. It will be His day. The Lord's day is coming. It's not a specific day. It's a time period. It will be a time of His coming judgment.

I look up the scriptures when other people do that. I love studying.

Paul, I thought I've given a good explanation of my understanding of both Spirit and water baptisms. Apparently, I am not giving you the answer you are looking for. So before I can go any further, what is your understanding of water baptism? Do you think it is necessary for salvation? What makes a person a saved person? Also, do you think a disciple means a saved person? I want to respond, but right now it's beginning to feel like you are beating around the bush to get me to give you the answer you are looking for, and I haven't given you that answer yet!

Gerard these are my thoughts and most would disagree, Is the day of the Lord and the day of Christ the same event. Most pastors in the USA will claim one day is the pre trib rapture and the other day is the 2nd coming at the end of the tribulation. However is claiming the day of the Lord and the day of Christ are two different events, does that not deny that Jesus is Lord? I say that Jesus is Lord.

1 Corinthians 12:3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.

Paul in 1 Corinthians 15:52 - In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

We are changed at the LAST TRUMP and where is this found?

In REVELATION, the LAST BOOK of the Bible there are 7 trumps and the 7th trump is the LAST ONE and is at the end of the tribulation. If this is true then the day of the Lord IS the day of Christ.

To whoever is upset about not being able to pray to there lost loved ones ,or talk to them. Be happy that the Bible is here for us and it is very True and when it says the dead no nothing, the dead no nothing!!! I lost my mom when I was 29 a day before my bday so I can relate how it may be saddening to learn this , but you have to believe it so if you believe. Be glad you have Jesus to talk to he will get you to God! Amen

What is the difference between the day of Christ and the day of the Lord

Hi Jesse. I understand you believe that water baptism is not necessary for salvation. That it is baptism by God through Holy Spirit that IS necessary. Wouldn't this take man out of the equation at Matt. 28:19-20? After all, it is the MEN that are making the disciples by means OF baptism. Or are you thinking that whether or not their baptism provides salvation is a matter to be determined by God? Thank you. Paul
