You will probably have a variety of perspectives in tithing. In short, not everyone agrees about tithing, and I personally think having a heart and willingness to help others is the takeaway. I don't think it's the amount, or even necessarily money, but time. For example, if a drug dealer asks me for money, should I tithe to him? What if instead I used my time and gift of encouragement- which of the two is what Jesus would do? Now, which in these 2 situations is best to help: a widow who is in a desperate situation and is evicted from her apartment and needs help, or give money to a local megachurch who just spent $1 million upgrading their stage for laser lights, fog machine, and are paying a performing arts company to do painting and acrobatics during a service once a week. Which would please the Lord more?

I personally believe our time and labor is just as valuable as money and is a valid way of helping others. I see only weak support for tithing in the Bible. There is stronger support for keeping the Sabbath and eating kosher foods than tithing and somehow many pastors won't preach that, but some will take time to almost guilt-trip Christians to give to their church- when maybe their own irresponsible spending and poor money management is the original problem- not people giving more to fund a building with AC/heating, repairs, taxes, etc that's vacant 95% of the time, when in the same area could be a dozen more churches also vacant 95% of the week. So, instead of sharing resources, or meeting in houses like they did in early Christianity, all this overhead burden is placed on people and instead of giving to actual people in need, they give to maintain a building that's unused and virtually useless most of the time. I think this is wrong. So, I personally do not give to a general church fund, because I feel funds are misappropriated. I feel so much better buying McDonalds gift cards and giving them to homeless. I would never go into debt to tithe.

Hi Adam it's Rick I'm not here to judge but I do endeavor to stick to it is written because they are God's Words therefore to say my area my mind my interpretation my understanding are all the individuals interpretation as to what he thinks God meant this is religion elevating itself against the true God by misunderstanding or following an individual's belief system our Brother Jesus Christ ran into the same thing the religious rulers knew God's Word but twisted it to fit what they chose to believe.

All of us have failed God in one way or the other - but God is in the business of bringing lost & wayward folk back into His Love & family, through the gift of His Son Jesus Christ.

You ask, "What do you do when so-called Christians don't act very Christian?" If you can find forgiveness in your heart that would be the first step, as each one of us are at different levels of spiritual understanding & maturity. If you tell her that her behaviour is very un-Christian-like, she may either get offended & break off altogether or it might be a wake-up call for her to re-examine her attitudes. You will know her better than any of us. So it's not an easy decision to make; it comes down to how much you are willing to put up with & hoping that God Himself will have dealings with her making her more sensitive to you, first as a person/a friend, & then to share more carefully & lovingly about God's desire for you as for each one of us. Given her propensity to lay the Bible heavily against you, you may even ask her to spend some time together reading & studying God's Word (from the New Testament Gospels): she might gain some useful insights to Christian behaviour & be softened in her heart by your interest to read with her, & you too might learn more of Jesus & what He requires of us. God's Word is powerful - it has the ability to bring us Light & direct our minds & our ways in the right direction - into an abundant life. Just because someone is christian or states their born again does not mean instantly all their thinking and actions dictate what the word of God says thats renewed mind and that takes time, on the other side don't judge belief system based on another persons not acting the way you think they should, In my life I've met plenty of so called christians that their actions didn't dictate what is written i let God do the judging. by the way don't let that stop you to look into Gods Word keep something in mind He's all love the human mind cannot comprehend that, but when you choose to believe you can experience it.

Hi Claudia. Thank you for coming on here; I hope you get other comments. I can see that you've maintained your relationship with your friend over many years, so in spite of her views on your sexual orientation & her firm stance, you have been gracious enough to overlook her shortcomings & hopeful for restoration. As you've not asked about the Christian/biblical viewpoint on homosexuality, I'll refrain, as you probably are well versed (ad nauseam) in this matter from your friend. However, I would say that even though God's Plan in creating man & woman is to live in a heterosexual monogamous union, those who have deviated from that, for whatever reason, are still human beings deserving of understanding, support & friendship, without ceaseless condemnation (Jesus didn't do it - nor should we).

You referred to her as an 'apologist'. I rather see her as standing firm on her beliefs but not adequately (i.e. in a concerned methodical manner) dealing with it in your presence. To defend one's belief requires a careful, systematic presentation & I don't think you received that, rather her attitude towards you has brought on irritation & helplessness in understanding her behaviour. And that grieves me. Though I do hope, that with your maturity (which I clearly notice), you will continue to forgive her for her lack of Christian 'spirit' in this matter. Sometimes, we can get quite fired up over our faith & stand on biblical values & teaching, that we can become insensitive to the other person's position & feelings. And this attitude of course, will do nothing to present the teachings & life of Christ in all its beauty to another. She knows your views on the matter & that in spite of it, you still value her friendship; in such a situation I would relish the opportunity to pursue & build upon that relationship, where I would be more understanding & the other person would be more willing to listen & consider God's Love & offer to her, as He has given to each of us.

I hope that my reply will in some way help to answer your question. I can relate to your friend's belief system, as I too was once erroneously taught the same doctrine as a child. We were taught that going to the doctor for any reason showed a lack of faith and would ultimately result in being punished by God for our disobedience. I give thanks to God for opening my eyes years later and for giving me discernment to recognize false teachings.

To answer your question regarding the COVID-19 vaccine, and/or receiving any other medical treatment is against God's Will, I would go to scripture (KJV). Matthew 9:12 says "But when Jesus heard that, He said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick." In other words, Jesus was saying that those who are in good have no reason to go and see a physician. Another point that could be illustrated is the fact that the apostle Luke was a physician. We as Christians should always maintain our faith in God, whether it be to give us strength during times of weakness, or healing during times of sickness. God gave man the wisdom to become a doctor in order to help those who are sick. Maintaining our faith is always essential to our Christian journey. When we go to the doctor for medical advice or treatment, we put not our trust solely in their knowledge, but rather put our trust in the Lord that He will give the doctor wisdom and guidance to treat us in a manner that will result in better health.

Thanks again 4 talking 2 me about this ,i do appreciate your input very much ,there r 2 things that i struggle with amd im happy 2 talk about 21 of them ,i shall try 2 keep it brief ,in 2017 i was under some stress and sadness that i wasnt able 2 express properly ,my favourite aunty who i love very much became very ill and i knew as soon as i heard that she would die of it ,no one else in my family seemed 2 think this would happen but i knew she wwoulddie ,of course i couldnt go around telling every one this ,so i had 2 keep it 2 my self so in effect i started grieving inwardly 4 her 6 months b 4 she actually died ,during this time i had my 50th birthday and was expected 2 celebrate and b happy so i had 2 put a face on 4 that ,my aunty died 1 week after my 50th .Well ,ive never had a lot of sympathy or patience 4 people with addiction problems ,whatever their addiction might b ,i come from a family of addicts of all sorts ,but when i heard about my aunty i started 2 buy things of the internet ,mostly bits of silver jewellery ,im not rich so i was careful 2 look 4 bargains but i was so happy 2 recieve something nice in the post when i was feeling quite miserable ,by 2018 i realised what i was doing and got a grip of myself then covid came and at the very begining of the 1st lockdown in march my most favourite uncle died suddenly and we werent able 2 give him a family burial ,si ive been buying a few bits of silver again and im so annoyedat myself ,i think imgetting a grip again ,maybe i neede 2 learn not 2 look down my nose at addicts ? After reading your post, I am led to respond in hopes that my answer will give you something to ponder on and consider. I took notice that you mentioned that you are not a Christian, and the fact that you are gay. While I strive to be a Christian, I am nonetheless human and prone to make poor choices when I allow myself to ignore the morals that God has implemented in me. No one is perfect, and that includes those who proclaim to be Christians. However, a true Christian cannot be racist, nor intentionally and willfully commit sin without having a guilty conscience. With that being said, I am not sure if your friend is truly a Christian, for only herself and God know the answer to that. So, to answer your question "What do you do when so-called Christians don't act very Christian?". The simple answer is there is nothing that you can do other than pray for them if you believe in God. Of course, you could always point out the fact that a true Christian does not hold hatred towards another, regardless of skin color. But this may be difficult to accomplish if you yourself are not a Christian.

I would like to comment on your statement regarding your not being a Christian yourself. But please keep in mind that I am not being judgemental or condemning you in any way, for I am not God, nor do I have that right. I am not sure if you have ever been educated on who Jesus Christ is, or if you have an understanding of what He represents, but I would encourage you to at least take a moment to research why He is so vital to the Christian. You see, it does not matter what you have done in the past, for it was the Blood Of Christ that can wash your sins away. When you accept Christ into your heart you become a child of God. Now that doesn't mean that you will be perfect, or that you won't on occasion face difficult times or make poor choices. But what it does mean is that you will begin to develop an inner desire to make better choices. Jesus Loves You!!!

When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him."

This was part of the many instructions & warnings that God gave to Israel through Moses & it was very important for them to be aware of this evil which they would witness in their journeyings & when they finally settled in their allocated territories. God spoke to His people through His leaders, like Moses & also through His prophets. Even till the formation of the Church after Christ's resurrection, there were prophetical utterances & I believe these largely ceased after the Word of God was completed which revealed God's Mind to us, His Church. I don't say that no one now has not the gift of Prophecy, but I've never heard anything resembling it, rather simply an affirmation of what is already declared (this is not prophecy, but preaching or exhortation from the Word).

Yet, prophets abound: the cults all have one as their founder (& their prophets have failed) & even now amongst believers, we will get some prophetical utterance about the future. After the recent U.S elections, these prophets were all busy making great claims of God's speaking directly to them about the future outcome of the elections & other prophecies. I will let you discern of what sort these people were & the claims they made. I don't believe we have anything left to be revealed after the closure of the Scriptures. We can observe world events & see prophecies in the Word being fulfilled, but has there been anything new to come out that even aligns with the revealed Word? I may have missed it, but I don't think so.

So don't be troubled by what you see on TV, etc. There will always be those who will make many claims - search the Word of God to establish yourself.

Very simply, it means that the Words of God spoken or the Work of God done in the Power of the Holy Spirit, is being attributed to Satan. This is also what the Jewish leaders were accusing Jesus of: Jesus' claim to be God's Son & His position at God's right Hand ( Matthew 26:63-65). Rather, they were the ones who blasphemed by claiming that Jesus did His miracles under Satanic power ( Matthew 12:22-32).

Therefore, this should remind us to be careful when judging another's words or work in the Lord's Name - we might just find ourselves speaking against the Lord & the Truth, even if done ignorantly.

This is why it is so important to read our bible KJV on a daily basis, starting with the NT, because when we read the bible, it brings forth a message of mercy, love, joy, peace, longsuffering, and so on, these are the fruits of the Spirit, this is some of the messaging that you should hear when listening to anyone, let alone a so called prophet, if you don't, don't follow him. not promoting anyone, but I like to listen to Billy Graham on y tube on a regular basis, he was a man that would quote scripture and then go on to explain it in a very simple way. Galatians chapter 5 is a good read where Paul explains the fruits of the flesh and the fruits of the Spirit, that should help answer your question, but read the entire NT. God did send out His Word by the prophets but lastly sent His final message through that same Word ( Hebrews 1:1,2), now clothed in flesh for not just in bringing out God's Word in Person, but for the main purpose, that this Word (of God, from God, as God) would lay down His Life as a full substitutionary payment for our sins.

So here is the difficulty that you have, implying: the Son of God was only that, a special separate creation, holy & sinless, Who would sacrifice His Life in our stead. Yes, He was a special creation, not out of nothing, but from God's very Being. Though the requirement of a spotless Sacrificial Lamb offering would have been met in such a (separate) creation by God, it would lack the most important aspect of such a sacrifice: that God Himself would make the payment for man's sins. This is the true & fullest expression of God's Love ( 1 John 3:16: "Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he (God) laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren."). God had to come down to the realm of sinful man, taking on his flesh & ultimately becoming the sin offering that gives full pardon to all who come to Him by faith & unequivocal love in response. If God did not take this initiative, or He (in Jesus) failed to rise from the dead, we would remain hopeless, unredeemable, consigned to hell fire for all eternity.

I pray Rob, that you & any other who is at variance to what the Scripture teaches on this important matter, might know that your salvation hangs onto the fact that God had to lay down His Life to redeem you, & that He accomplished that by coming down, sending His Word, in the Person of Jesus Christ, Who then rose again to the Father, to Whom He once prayed: "And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was" ( John 17:5). A very compelling Statement of Truth.
