  • Jesus and the Disciples - In Reply on 1 John 1 - 5 years ago
The Jews had a Torah. I think Jesus taught His disciples along their daily travels. The persons who later wrote: Matthew, Mark, Luke, John: the Gospels. They all saw and heard the same events; had similar records but from their perspective.

My friend Chris can tell you lots more about that. Keep an eye out for him later.

We're his disciples too. I think it's a good thing to keep a notebook and write down things that the Holy Spirit shows us through our bible studies with Him. He is the Spirit of Jesus Christ. He tells us many things about Jesus. Fresh and new each day.

Jesus is at the right hand Of Father, God. He ever lives to make Intercession for All Saints. That's us! If there's a question you must have an answer to; ask it. Turn off the media, get quiet and listen with your heart. You will hear Him there.

When the Holy Spirit speaks, there is joy, life and incredible feeling in your heart area. Powerful and tender. His voice is soft.

Warning! Sometimes satan might try to speak. His advise causes fear, not because of what he says, but because his voice is evil. Jesus's sheep do not respond to it.

Rebuke his lies in the name of Jesus.

    Come along with Jesus.

Jesus' disciples had God's Living Word, made flesh, with them. They also had the Scriptures (what we call the Old Testament) but the disciples were simple, often uneducated, men who would have had a very limited knowledge of the Scriptures. However, with Jesus teaching them (not just from the Word, but giving them the full intended meaning of the Word) & showing them how to live God's Way, the disciples could have no better Teacher to instruct them.

I feel your pain. See your doctor - quick - before it infects your finger. But watch out for Satan - he will soon find another way to buffet you & it might be more severe than what you have now.

Donna, there are some very good commentaries out there, both by the printed page & the Web. I would suggest using the Web, as you can get a number of commentaries to refer to, plus other tools (such as Lexicons, Interlinear, etc.) to help you in the study of the Word. The one I would suggest is: Bible Hub. The Site might be a little difficult to properly navigate initially because of its many features, but there are numerous commentators/expositors who have shared much light on the Word. And it's free.

If you mean 'does God save a person if he comes to Him only because of a fear of Hell', then I believe the answer is 'No'. The fear of Hell or of death or of the unknown is a very real response by many who seriously contemplate their future, but it's insufficient to give salvation. He can 'come' to God because of his fear, but that won't grant him salvation.

The message of the Gospel (Christ's Work at the Cross) was primarily to release man from God's required penalty of his sin & to also provide a lasting & sure means for his forgiveness & acceptance into the family of God. The fear of Hell must first be accompanied by a fear & hatred of sin. How can we run to the Saviour if we don't believe we are sinners or having sin that will not be judged by God? How can we run from Hell if we don't believe that it is our sins that send us there? Then any fear of Hell will only be like an errant child who fears the whipping given by his father: while the fear is there, he behaves himself, but when the father is absent, the child plays up. The boy might trick his earthly father by showing his goodness, but a man cannot trick Almighty God by showing his fear of Hell but not of his sin. However, that fear can most certainly be a catalyst for the sinner to see his pathetic sinful condition & run to the Saviour.

In India, where I've had some ministry, one can sometimes see, in a Hindu home, a 'picture' of Jesus alongside the other idols being worshipped. Why is it there? Essentially, because of fear of the unknown/future. Believing that the more gods that can be worshipped, the greater the chance to get a better future, being the imperative, rather than seeking a god, the True God, who can save a person from the 'guttermost to the uttermost'. You need to talk to your friend about his sin (as each one of us are sinners), & present Jesus Christ to him, that He might first run to Jesus for salvation & not try to run away from Hell which will give him no hope or assurance.

There are lots of reasons why we fear God: sins we did, sin we're doing now; living with people that ridicule our interest in salvation.

I had many people tell me to my face that anyone as evil as me could not possibly get saved! They'd walk off laughing. It felt like a knife in my baby Christian heart.

God is bigger than anything you've ever done. His offer of forgiveness and salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ, stands....24 hrs a day, 365 days a year.

There is no Sin that the blood of Jesus Christ cannot wash away completely. Confess it. Be sorry for it. Open your mouth and say...to God...I need Jesus to come into my life now. I receive Him to be my personal Lord and Savior. Wash me, raise me as a new creation. Seal me with the Holy Spirit. I believe you will NEVER leave me nor forsake me. Holy Spirit: teach me About Jesus. I open my heart to receive all that you have for me. Whatever you need; ask the Lord. As He has forgiven you; now in pure faith, you forgive those who hurt you. Do it till it takes root in your heart.

You will be amazed how light you feel once all of the past, drops off of you.

Every day, say good morning to your Heavenly Father. He loves his kids! Some future day you will bow your knee and whisper: I love you, ABBA (which means, Daddy God). His arms are big enough to hug all of His kids.

    He loves you. Mishael

Tell me why we don't go at the Bible the same way?? Dig, dig deeper, read commentaries ON HERE or read commentaries on Google.

The Holy Spirit is your TEACHER. Ask Him. If you'll sit still long enough and be quiet, you will get answers.

    PRAY for a TEACHABLE spirit.

Get a KJV Study Bible that has Center of Each page, reference columns: with the abc notes imbedded within the scriptures. Those send you to other scriptures that EXPAND the meanings or reveal a prophesy.

Back Arrow out of this room to the Search Box. Go to the top.

Put a scripture in it or just a word (like worms) hit the arrow. The search engine will pull up ALL verses with 'worms' in it.

Touch or click the verse and it will highlight yellow.

Scroll downward to the Commentary Box. Click that. It will show you what the scholars interpret that scripture to mean. If there isn't one, then exit and do the same thing on GOOGLE. Type the scripture and spell out Commentary, or

    History, or

    Teaching

Questions answered. It makes studying fun and interesting.

You cannot get lost. Use the back arrow or just exit this site and come back in Again.

There's a quickie link from KJV to Google to help you find a scripture you're unsure about. Like: "Many are called but few are chosen."

Learn to study! For yourselves. Share what you find, on here. IT IS FUN! God speaks to us through His Word.

When you sit down to study: pray: I HAVE THE SAME MIND OF CHRIST !! I receive it by faith right now. God watches over His Word To Perform it.

Give that fine mind of yours To The Holy Spirit, stand back, and see what He will show you. Habakkuk 2:2-4.

You will find your Identity in the Bible.

You gotta get plugged into the Holy Spirit. Depend on Him. Pursue Him. Be quiet and Listen To Him.

22:14 Many are called; few chosen - Many hear; few believe. Yea, many are members of the visible, but few of the invisible Church. # Mt 20:16

People's Bible Notes for Matthew 22:14

Mt 22:14 For many are called, but few [are] chosen. "The many called" embrace all who hear the gospel; the whole Jewish nation, and the Gentiles of every land where the gospel is preached. The chosen are those who choose to accept.

  • EL ROI - In Reply on Genesis 16:13 - 5 years ago
An Egyptian slave, Hagar encountered God in the desert and addressed him as El Roi, "the God who sees me." Notably, this is the only occurrence of El Roi in the Bible.

Hagar's God is the One who numbers the hairs on our heads and who knows our circumstances, past, present, and future. When you pray to El Roi, you are praying to the one who knows everything about you.

She [Hagar] gave this name to the LORD who spoke to her: "You are the God who sees me," for she said, "I have now seen the One who sees me." That is why the well was called Beer Lahai Roi [the"well of the Living One who sees me"]. ( Genesis 16:13-14)

    PROMISES ASSOCIATED WITH GOD'S NAME

Even the most watchful parent has to sleep. But Scripture makes it clear God never slumbers, never looks one way while we head off in another, never misses a millisecond of what is happening on earth. It also assures us God is on the lookout for men and women who are totally committed to him. Why? Because he wants to strengthen their hearts as they serve him. If you are feeling weak in the face of life's challenges, the best way to grow strong is to strengthen your commitment to Christ. Decide to obey fully, to follow completely, to keep your eyes fastened on him. Let El Roi take pleasure as he watches over you, and you will soon find your heart stronger and your confidence deeper without quite knowing how it happened.

    Isaiah 14

9 Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations.

10 All they shall speak and say unto thee, Art thou (Satan) also become weak as we? art thou become like unto us?

11 Thy pomp is brought down to the grave, and the noise of thy viols (MUSIC): the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee.

12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:

14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

16 They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man (Satan) that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms?
  • NEVER GOING BACK TO EGYPT - In Reply on Ezekiel 20:25 - 5 years ago
I was taught that "Egypt" in our modern times means our old sins and idols in our lives. The difference between now and then, is that we have received the power of the risen Christ into our born again lives.

No matter how God provided for them, they never let go of their idols and memories of Egyptian religious practices, like golden calves. They wandered in the deserts till the older generation died away. Moses died. Joshua then took them into the Promised land.

We all must freely give our old sins; even the memories. How do you do that? You forgive your involvement and then give it to God. Satan will tempt periodically to see if you really meant it? We have power to step over that noose, through Jesus's blood sacrifice.

We are in Covenant with Jesus. He gives us his armor and strength; and we give Him our weakness and failures.

Stand sure upon that Covenant relationship.

New Christians should search through their belongings and mementos; to see if an "old idol" of the memory of sin (Egypt), needs to be cast away. It is a very freeing experience to rid yourself of the baggage of sin.

Most preachers don't teach on this, but I do. Familiar Spirits (follows ancestral sins), or keep track of hidden sins. They follow us around to remind us of those old things.

You Take away their power to remind, re-injure the memories, tempt us to revisit sin (to see if it's really dead?) Get rid of them once and for all.

(Bind them by name.) I bind and cast out all familiar spirits in the name of Jesus Christ!

I break their power in my life and my ancestors all the way back to Adam and Eve. I loose the blessings of God to fill my life with blessing and restoration. I send those familiar spirits into outer darkness by the name and the power of Jesus Christ. I stand on Jesus's Authority and none other.

I decree that those familiar spirits NEVER return. In the name of my Lord Jesus.

May we go forward from Egypt into the Promised Land.
