When a person is saved from his/her sins through Jesus Christ, it means that God declares us not guilty & spares us from eternal punishment. This happens because Jesus, in His great Love, stepped in as our substitute giving His Life so that we might be spared. But if our salvation from sin's penalty stopped there, then we would still be failures in this world of evil & temptations. Our old sins would have been dealt with but we would not have the Power of God in us to resist further sin & enjoy God's ministry to our lives.

That is why God gave us His Holy Spirit to indwell us: He seals us as God's children, teaches, comforts, guides, gives power over sin & many more blessings. But one of the greatest blessings from the Spirit is that he sanctifies us (i.e. sets us apart, makes us holy) before the Father. So the fullness of God also means the fullness of His Holiness is within us. Where the problem starts is when the believer begins to stifle the Spirit, or entertain sin in the life, & the Spirit no longer has full control. We are still holy people ( 1 Peter 2:9) but the Spirit of Holiness no longer reigns in the person's life. But when we repent & subsequently been forgiven & brought back into full fellowship with God, we can exclaim with the Psalmist, also "restore unto me the joy of Thy salvation" ( Psalm 51:12a). Joy is the clear product of a life of confessed & forgiven sin & walking in step with the Spirit of God.

1. Nicodemus, a Pharisee (a Jewish religious leader) was confused by Jesus' expression 'that a man must be born again before he can see the Kingdom of God'. To the natural mind, a birth/re-birth can only be a physical event, making any other meaning confusing & laughable. Yet, Jesus explained that He wasn't talking about a physical birth but a spiritual birth (something that the Pharisee knew nothing about). He knew something about God's Spirit but that the Spirit could do such a work in man was unthinkable. When a person, a sinner, confesses his sinful condition to God & asks for forgiveness, God does forgive him based on the death & resurrection of His Son Jesus Christ. As Jesus, the sinless Sacrifice of God, gave up His Life as our substitute (since sinful man cannot atone for his own sins), God accepted that Sacrifice, thus allowing all who come to Him through Jesus might be completely forgiven. As soon as that happens, the sinner is saved from the penalty of his sins & given God's Spirit to indwell Him making him a new person. This transaction: giving of oneself over to God as God then gives Himself to indwell the new person, is what is termed 'being born again': being born anew by the Power & Presence of God.

2. Romans 10:9 speaks of what a sinner's action before God, i.e. "confessing the Lord Jesus" (acknowledging both Jesus' divinity & humanity & that the Sacrifice is all the sinner needs to be saved) & "believing in the heart that God indeed raised Jesus from the grave". When one looks at these aspects, there are not many who can truly acknowledge these Truths. Whereas the new birth in John 3 speaks of God's action in the sinner by making him new & giving of His Spirit to indwell.

3. True, spiritual rebirth is synonymous with Spirit baptism. But to be born of water, I understand to mean a reference to one's physical birth. As Nicodemus spoke of the physical birth, Jesus said that both the physical ( Jn 3:6) & spiritual births are necessary to be saved.

So I understand that the person must believe and live in the house hold. So a hold not in the home and a parent

Themselves must believe I'm Christ themselves.

In this passage ( Matthew 15:22-28), a Canaanitish woman approached Jesus about her demon afflicted daughter. However, since she was not from the "house of Israel", Jesus focused his ministry only to the Jews. It might appear harsh that He appeared to reject her pleas, but Jesus never erred in what He said or did, but that this situation might have a larger blessing. He reminded her (& she knew this), that the "bread (blessings) meant for the children (Israel) were not meant to be given to dogs (a term often used by the Jews for the gentile nations).

So, in spite of Jesus telling the woman that his ministry was only to Israel, He waited to hear her response. She was so overcome with her daughter's condition, that she continue to press Him to act in spite of her being a gentile woman. She said that she would willingly accept whatever Jesus could offer to her (as the crumbs of bread that fall off the (Jews) table). Such was her persistence - such was her faith - and Jesus noticed this & accordingly from that very hour, the woman's daughter was released from the demonic activity. I believe that Jesus already knew what He would do for that woman - He wanted to bring her to the point of an active persistent faith. She could have just accepted Jesus' initial refusal to help her because she was a gentile & gone away sad. But real faith demands an active pursuit, that something not only can happen but will happen. She was blessed by having & using that faith.

Verse 33, shows that this was not inspired by the Holy Spirit because the dead can't receive anything according to the rest of the Bible.

That is a very sad situation for both yourself & your husband. This is what we refer to as "having one foot in God & the other in the world". It seems there is a God-consciousness with him, yet he doesn't want to leave off the attractions that the world gives him. "Man cannot serve two masters": if he loves the world & what it offers him, then his love for God is not real - and that is called hypocrisy. 1 John 2:15, "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him."

He needs spiritual counselling - there is always hope he may give attention to what another unbiased qualified person advises him, rather than from his wife. He probably needs to receive Christ's salvation that will make him new from the inside rather than subscribing to a phoney belief that his knowledge about God is all he needs. This is a very delicate situation which will see you both needing help & guidance, not only in spiritual matters but also in your marriage.

You can always pray for God's Work to be done in his life. Is he in a position to spend some devotional time, i.e. both of you together, with God? Reading from the Bible (which he says he believes in) & from a devotional book & also to spend a little time to pray about your lives, your family, your hopes & dreams, will be useful to resetting your lives & minds towards the things of the Lord. However, if he is resistant to these things, you can only but commit him & your marriage to the Lord in personal prayer & not frustrate or antagonize your husband further. Your faithfulness & love to him in spite of his view of you, your love & trust in the Lord to help your marriage, will also speak to his heart as he witnesses these things. May the Lord help you especially at this time Leasa.

Thank you Rev. Les for your thoughts on that matter. I must confess that I haven't given much consideration about "dreams" that come to us during sleep. I've always kept them separate from voluntary dreams (imaginations) to those that come to us involuntarily during sleep. But I can see what you're saying: that if our minds are so engaged (in this instance), in vile things while awake, then there could well be a reflection of this during those involuntary occasions. This luke 11 : 27 Tells us alot about y Jesus refers to himself as the SON OF MAN. That woman that was praising Mary was saying blessed is the womb that bear you and the paps you have sucked but Jesus was talking bout another Woman the world that is gonna birth a baby Christ that is more blessed then MARY rather blessed are them that hear the Word ( that good seed ) and keeps it. That good seed is gonna make the WORLD HIS Mother he said the field is the world where that good seed is gona be sown which is humanity that is gonna give birth simply b/c of that good seed that is gonna be sown in THE FIELD. i.e the world is gonna be more blessed then MARY simply b/c we are gonna have a baby Christ THE SON OF MAN,MANKINDS FRUIT UNTO GOD via that good seed . ( them that hear the word that good seed ) and keeps it . I.E. the new birth via that good seed . Remember he said if i be lifted up i will draw ALL MEN unto me THE WORLD, God so loved the world etc. Jesus asked who is my Mother then he said them that hear the WORD and keeps it bringing forth fruit unto God. Our duty as Jesus Christ's servants is to preach His Gospel. Can we make judgments about anyone BEFORE we tell them the Gospel? I don't think so. However, once we have preached to someone, and they react to the news of Christ as a dog/swine(they reject it, mock it, insult it etc), their blood is on their own head. We are clean.

Acts 18:6 'And when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook his raiment, and said unto them, YOUR BLOOD BE UPON YOUR OWN HEADS; I AM CLEAN'

And again, Acts 20:26-27 "Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of ALL MEN. For I HAVE NOT SHUNNED TO DECLARE UNTO YOU ALL the counsel of God."

And again, Mark 6:11 "whosoever shall not receive you, NOR HEAR YOU, when ye depart thence, SHAKE OFF THE DUST UNDER YOUR FEET for a testimony AGAINST THEM. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city."

And again, Matthew "whosoever shall not receive you, NOR HEAR YOUR WORDS, when ye depart out of that house or city, SHAKE OFF THE DUST OF YOUR FEET."

Perhaps seeds were planted/watered by us and later that person will come to their senses, but the Bible tells us our duty is fulfilled. We depart from them and warn others.

Matthew 7:6 'GIVE NOT that which is holy UNTO THE DOGS, neither cast ye your pearls BEFORE SWINE, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.'

We see here, Christ Jesus never required us to babysit or go after the dogs or swine. Rather, he warns us to beware them.

Philippians 3:2 "BEWARE OF DOGS, beware of evil workers" Dogs are people who reject the Gospel of Christ. God compares them to evil workers.

And again, in Titus 3:10-11 "A man that is an heretick AFTER the first and second admonition REJECT; Knowing that HE THAT IS SUCH IS SUBVERTED, and SINNETH, BEING CONDEMNED OF HIMSELF.

1. Can you tell me what Jesus meant when He told Nicodemus you must be born again?

2. is this new birth different from Roman's 10:9?

3. Being born of the Spirit could mean being baptized with the Holy Spirit but what does it means to be born of water?

Does God give each person a portion of holiness are do we find it through his spirit. I have always thought this.

I don't recall this verse saying, "...there is no God." I recall it as, "...there is no other God."

If I am incorrect, can anyone provide interpretation or meaning to that specific part of the verse?

So, it can actually be like daydreaming of evil things or actually sleeping and having evil dreams. Jude 8, using the word "Likewise" is referring to verse 7 about the filthy people in Sodom and Gomorrah. It compares these people not only to the Angels who left their first estate, the Jews that were destroyed due to unbelief, but to the sexual sins of Sodom and the surrounding cities.

If we are prone to Unbelief, Self Exaltation, or Dreams of Sexual Sins we must lay it before God and ask him to show us what is the root cause of these things. Confession and the power of the Grace of God can give us victory over these things. The Lord bless you both.

And thank you too Wendy for what you just shared. Praise the Lord that your eyes & heart have been opened to the Truth & you have indeed been set free. So many RCs are kept in ignorance, believing the Mass is the 'be all & end all' to their faith. Also, by not getting into God's Word for themselves, many have continued in darkness, believing that they were walking in Light & saved through the Church. But the Lord will have His Way & that was wonderful to read that He has blessed you by bringing you on His Path. Walk on in the Joy & Blessing of the Lord.

As you may have read the earlier verses of that chapter, the LORD was against all the abominations, disobedience & their taking on of the wickednesses of the nations about them. In other words, verse 13 shows us that God is fired up, that nothing will cause Him to change His Mind about His people. They will feel the full force of His Anger & they will then know that it is the LORD Who has spoken & given out this Judgement against them. So He says they will know that His Word against them was said in zeal (ardour, force, eagerness to judge, jealous for their love). These are the words that fitly describe how the LORD felt & would respond.

The word used for 'Judgement' can also mean 'Justice'. God often said that He required Judgement & Justice from those who were kings & leaders of His people. We know that God is both a Just God & a God Who will also Judge. He takes in all the facts of the case, including what man does not see, & then gives His Judgement. Though man will always fall short of God's Standard for Justice, God still expects him to give his best in weighing up the matters before them & thus give the correct Judgement. When God gives His Judgement, it will be absolutely correct, at which time the wicked will be dealt with & removed, but His people will be preserved.

It is thought Genesis may have been written after Leviticus, due to references specifically to periods that came after the exodus, which is after Genesis in order. Aside f on that just because it's not written down doesn't mean it's acceptable, the term called Oral laws, very common to most of the World at that time. The dating of books is an ongoing debate. Further Lots daughter s did not commit sodomy it is incest. Sodomy in biblical times referred to anal sex, which could not have made them pregnant, even if that may have been a part of it. Lots daughters offspring do not fair well. We see this in Exodus Amorites verses Moabites. Moab was the son of one of Lots daughters. Hope that helps.

I believe that since Christ's death & resurrection, everyone who hears the Gospel of Salvation, has a choice to make. And this choice is incumbent on the Holy Spirit's Work in the unbeliever's heart to prepare him & draw him to the Cross.

2 Corinthians 6:2, "For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation." The choice for all people is NOW & not at a later date when it could be too late or even after death, when there is no further opportunity to do so.

The Greek word "baptisma" seems to indicate a full immersion/submerging, yet we have to consider that in respect to Jesus' baptism, it was what we refer to as John's baptism. And we know, that this baptism was not our Christian/Believers' Baptism, as it was only an indication of a person's contrition over his sins & repentance. It couldn't mean any identification with Jesus' death & resurrection as that didn't occur yet, but it certainly looked forward to that special time when a full & true cleansing would take place.

That is why John said, "I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?" Jesus didn't need to repent as He was sinless, so John was saying that, if anything, in your presence, I need to be rather baptized of you. So, if we take into account the Jewish baptism (tvilah) which involved full immersion/cleansing from various impurities of the flesh, then it's likely that John's baptism was also a full immersion, but for demonstrating the need for cleansing of the impurities of the heart.
