I am a Christian by choice. This passage has meaning to me, because I have experienced so much evil in my life also kindness from people I didn't know. My hope God will give me peace of mind only He can offer.
I believe evil is alive and well. We need to be on guard against evil. The only way we can love your neighbor. By kindness. I'm not a Bible scholar, definitely not a prophet.

GOD love is so greater so power beyond any human ability that's why it important to allow GOD to live on the inside of us and love though us. Without GOD we don't know how to love.

Day 93 of Bible in a Year Reading. Very very sad chapter. David never wavered from God. He sinned; he followed his own thinking and lusts at times, but he received both the Lord's blessings and chastisements. He had, as described, a perfect heart. Solomon did not. He followed his own desires and literally worshipped other Gods and gave permission for other to do the same. The he chose to kill

"Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man." The times past of our life was time wasted living in ignorance and lusts as if there is no day of reckoning. We owe it to the Lord and to all to give back for the time lost with knowledge and meaningful speech and behavior.

"Lead me, O LORD, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face." Like the Apostle wrote "Everyone that has this hope in him purifies himself even as He is pure;" whether its the innumerable voices of strangers that mislead into darkness and error away from faith, or our lusts; we have to set our eyes on Jesus above all these evils that surround us in and out.

"For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee. The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity. Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing (falsehood): the LORD will abhor the bloody and deceitful man." Therefore we make account and set in order all our ways every morning before God that we be of the Truth from the heart.

Sabrina; What are you confused about? This Epistle like all Epistles is about how to understand and put in practice the grace of God given to us in the Glad Tidings of Jesus Christ; and how to perform from the heart without hypocrisy what is good and well pleasing to God, in a world set to defy and contradict Him. Line by line, line by line, precept upon precept, as we walk in the Light we grow.

George; "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Only someone who can't overcome his own pride and unbelief makes complicated entanglements of contentions about words to deny faith, while pretending to excuse himself. Without faith it is impossible to please Him! Our faith has made us whole! We are justified, counted righteous by God, because we believe!
  • A disciple on Psalms 4 - 8 years ago
"O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? how long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing? Selah." The Lord Jesus Christ is the glory of the Father and the express image of His person. In the same way are we the glory of Christ insomuch as we are found in His image and likeness in truth on the inward parts. This is why His enemies despise Him, and hold rather to hypocrisy.

The love and pursuit of money can lead to many sinful acts.
Matt. 6:33 Jesus teaches "Seek first the kingdom of God and all these things shall be added unto you".

The word of God is for comfort, teaching, learning and understanding how we are to live and act toward our brothers and sisiters
  • George on Hebrews 11 - 8 years ago
Both phrases, "things hoped for" and "things not seen" are participial and would more accurately be rendered, "things are being hoped for," "things are being seen." Faith is not the assurance to us, but the substantiation to God that we believe what we proclaim: "I'm hoping for...," "I'm seeing..." That's how the elders obtained good reports (from God), as He saw substantiation and evidence.

David knew the Lord, before he met his enemies, who did not know him or the Lord.We may hear the voice and sayings of God's enemies, our enemies, but truth is only in what God has done and will do.Sustaining us,giving us rest and insight, move us to sing God's praises and hope in him.Faith/trust comes by hearing the Word of God,and so we should grow daily unto his glory for his purposes.

    I meant Gen 3-22. “Us”

Israelite; Your post about who the Hebrews are, is incorrect. Abraham came from Ur of the Chaldees, which were the descendants of Arphachshad, of the sons of Shem, primarily inhabiting Mesopotamia, the Euphrates Valley, and Persia; until Abraham migrated west toward the Mediteranean. The sons of Ham populated Africa, and the sons of Japheth spread over all Europe, Asia, Oceana, and the Americas.

Charles: Let there be Light. This is The Light that came into The World and in the hearts of Believers @Salvation. The Light is Called Day. The darkness is called Night. The Lord said He must do The Work while it's Day: John 9:4. We are to take this Light the world. We are The only Light The World will See. This Light is not visible to the Eye. The World was revolving before day 4.

End of day 92 Bible in a Year Reading. At last the temple. The Israelites kingdom and distinction was that they were a people unto the Lord. Their very lives, the lives of their posterity and obviously there eternal destination was linked to God who made them His exclusive people to demonstrate His grace, love and mercy to those that depended upon Him.
  • A disciple on Colossians 3 - 8 years ago
"And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men " How many thousands of times have we tried to do good only to be sadly disappointed by people's indifference, or taking it all the wrong way! We wonder why some just automatically assume evil or deceitful motives, and leave hardly any room for natural friendly relations but that is unfortunately what we often meet with from men saved and unsaved! But Jesus is never like that with any of us. He is truly "A Friend that sticks closer than a brother." And while we cannot help but want to please others and be loved and accepted we must rise above our natural feelings, and the things of this life to look solely unto Him who is always constant and faithful in His love and acceptance knowing that the things we do with the best intentions to men are all kept in good remembrance with Jesus and He never can forget or overlook the slightest efforts.

Cain, by willfully leaving the Word of God's Anointed out of the accounting of himself; in presenting the fruits of his labor and toil without acknowledging the real meaning for his being in that state; shows his contempt for the truth, and the supreme authority of God: for he scorned God's good words of mercy in the announcement of Christ coming to undo the works of the devil and save the world.
  • A disciple on Psalms 3 - 8 years ago
"LORD, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me." Written for 2 Sam 15:12 "And the conspiracy was strong; for the people increased continually with Absalom;" The Holy Spirit guided David to put the Psalms in the order best for instructing what is the course in life we take in Christ, and what we are set to encounter in a world hated and hostile to the Spirit.

Thank you Jesus for teaching the Disciples who helped inscribe your Word from the Father. Thank you Lord for this opportunity to brings thoughts forward for other Christians to see. Anger and wrath is part of my flesh as yesterday the auto driver cuts in front of me. It feels good to enlist these dangerous emotions. Yet you Lord promise forgiveness and retreat from such actions in our Gospel, Amen
