I have the conviction that this scripture points us to the fact that we were originally made in the image of God and empowered to live as such. Though the efficacy was lost to sin at a point but grace recovered it in Christ Jesus through His finished work at Calvary. Therefore as born again folks, we should live and reason/act as God in all things for we are just in the world but not of the world

John 15 reinforces our connection with Christ as we are compared to branches of the tree which symbolizes Him, our Lord. It is, indeed, an undeniable truth that without Him, we amount to nothing. This life is meaningless without faith, without love.

I only reliazed this morning that Jesus in fact had no bloodline on this earth. Joseph was 'the son of David' (vers 20). Joseph was blessed to be able to raise God's son as his own, on this earth. That was only possible, because of his obedience. When the angle spoke to him, he set aside his own thoughts and plans. I believe that Mary was only a holy vessel for God's son. What a privelege!

I have read over again and have had another thought to this. The Promise to Abraham and to his seed was that through Christ they would inherit the world; "..and in thee shall all Nations of the earth be blessed." As Hagar was the property of Sarah, so then was the son that Hagar bore to Abraham. It pronounced that in Isaac would the seed be called; and so Abraham sent away all his other sons.

David (cont.); We know that Jesus said, that none of them which the Father has given Him shall perish; and no one is able to pluck us from His hand. But Jesus also made it abundantly clear, that we must abide in Him or we would be cast away as a withered branch and gathered into bundles to be burnt. This verse is saying for us to be remorseful for the things we have done in life. Repent and confess are two different meanings. To repent is as I said in the beginning and confess is to acknowledge your sin but not saying you will do it again. When you receive the Holy Spirit it helps you and guide you through those things you repented of so you will have the strength no to do it again.

He is a liar and the father of it! He lies because there is no truth in him, because he is of the world, because his father is the devil, and there is no repentance in him. So they accuse Jesus, whom the Father has sent of having a devil. OMG, what hypocrisy. Are we not paying attention to current events? What is happening is a descent into these conditions that existed then! Are we not aware?

"A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent." v20. I love this verse because it motivates God's children to be faithful. Secondly, it's an advice to especially young people not to be hasty to be rich. Anyone who makes money hastily would have to cut corners.

David; What the Law exposes in man is that ruin and deformity caused by the evil alienated nature we received from our parents, as well as our own sins. The Law teaches us what kind of men we are intended to be in God's view WHO CREATED US AND REDEEMED US. The revelation of grace and truth through Jesus Christ fulfills the demands of the character pleasing to God, out of which establishes the Law.

It is ultimately our choice to serve him or not, however, we must be willing to face the consequences of our actions. Just as our laws have consequences for unlawfulness so does our God. Throughout the Bible, the word "if" can be found at least 1500 times. It is our choice!

Jean; about Sarah giving her maid to her husband; it was evidently understood that if a bondwoman bore children of her master, then the children would be her master's, and not hers. So by those standards Hagar's son was by tradition and law of the land Sarah's son; because she owned the maid servant, and whatever she had was the property of her mistress and master. Concerning Matthew 18:35: "So your Heavenly Father will do to you if each of you, if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses".
Question: This seems to be explicitly clear that the sin of unforgiveness is a sin God will not forgive a believer for committing. How does this verse/concept reconcile to such verses as Romans 5: 2, 20

Verse 4 became a lifeline to me in the grief of losing my husband. Never before did I understand grief as "walking through the valley of the shadow of death". I was truly in a valley that was shadowed by the death of my beloved. Jesus walked with me. He protected me from the darkness of despair. He led me right back to Jeremiah 29:11
