Verses 21, 22: The man had asked what he must do to gain everlasting life. He was unwilling to give up material possessions for everlasting life. We must guard against becoming attached to any material possessions.

I have read and read and re-read Genesis 4 many times, And I'm wondering if Cain really was The Devils son. I don't want to believe that but, how it states it seems like he actually was. And I'm struggling with this, It's even difficult for me to even consider this. But the words are their ( I will put Emity between your off spring and Hers ) ( and He shall Crush your head with his Heel ).

These 2 immutable things are the 2 oaths made by God and Melchisedec blessing Abraham with multiplication/children. Immutable means something that cannot be changed which are the 2 oaths made by God and Melchisedec ,Resulting in natural Israel, Our strong consolation that Christ might be formed IN US WHICH IS the H.G WHOM JESUS REFERS TO AS THE PROMISE ,The Israel of GOD, MULTIPLICATION OF GOD .

"Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice...(ALL SHALL HEAR HIS VOICE)
And shall come forth; ALL they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and ALL they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation". Jesus forgot about the rapture..an oversight no doubt. Or maybe, there isn't a rapture, but a resurrection?
  • Eutychus on John 5 - 8 years ago
"Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath," Yes, Jesus, who never sinned, broke the Sabbath. But WHEN he broke the Sabbath, it was no longer the law, "For all the prophets and the law prophesied UNTIL JOHN." Matt 11:13, and, "The law and the prophets WERE UNTIL JOHN"... Luke 16:16. The law spoke only until John the Baptist. No sin then, to break it.

"God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." Where do you worship? It must be special, for God, "dwelleth not in temples made with hands; neither is worshipped with men's hands..." Acts 17:24b-25a. "Howbeit the most High dwelleth NOT in temples made with hands." Acts 7:48 The 'place' we must worship is, "IN SPIRIT", found in the little community of TRUTH.

"He must increase, but I must decrease." vs30. See Jesus in the garden, "What, could ye not watch with me one hour? Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit IS WILLING, the flesh is WEAK." Matt 26:40-41. The spirit is willing to resist temptation;but the flesh is weak in temptation. In fasting, our flesh weakens (decreases), our spirit strengthens (increases). We choose which.

"He must increase, but I must decrease." Ten sermons in 7 words...Whatever is in me, that is not God, that is not Spirit, is flesh, and there is no good thing in the flesh. A war takes place within us...a war between spirit and flesh ( Gal 5:17). It is our task in God, as much as lies within us, to walk in the Spirit, and mortify the flesh. It is a life of making choices. Spirit, or Flesh. Choose!!

"And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved."vss19-20. "But all things that are reproved are MADE MANIFEST by the LIGHT: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light" Eph.5:13. EVIL HATES LIGHT!!

"The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit." Reality tv shows are either 'scripted' or 'unscripted'; Unscripted is 'more real' than scripted. In our spiritual lives, we are either 'scripted' (pre-planned, programmed,) or UNSCRIPTED, "led of the Spirit". John 3:8.

The word 'horn' occurs 36 times in the bible. It has 2 meanings, 1), Animal horn, such as a cow horn. And 2) as a projection of the power, the authority, of the man. The word "Heart" in Ezekiel doesn't mean the heart as an organ...but as a trait of the spirit of man. Our NEW HEART, arises out of the Holy Spirit of God, in place of our human spirits. New hearts, new Spirits. That is being saved...
  • Eutychus - 8 years ago
The critical issue is "By what process are we born again? What happens?" And Ezekiel tells us "A new heart will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you" Eze. 36:26. Being born again is having the Spirit of God, to enter into place of the spirit of man. "For what man knoweth the things of a man? even so, the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God." 1 Cor 2:11.
  • Eutychus on John 3 - 8 years ago
Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Man must first be born of water (the amniotic fluid in the womb..for that which is born of the flesh, is flesh), then, of the Spirit..without these two events in life, there is no saving.

Hello Eutychus, WHERE IS MELCHIZADEK? Psalm 90:2 "from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God". Jesus is God, John 20:28, and therefore Melchizadek seems to be an Old Testament appearance of Jesus before He appeared in the New Testament as baby Jesus. Very, very deep.

Verse 29: Not even one sparrow could fall to the ground without Jehovah God knowing about it. We are worth more than sparrow so if God cares for these little creatures, how much more does he care about us?!

I have always regarded myself as another disobedient David who God has given a second chance so I always read this chapter to remind me of the contract between God and sinful me.
