Paul was just addressing the situation face on before it grew out of control and lead to more divisions and separations, false doctrines in the body of Christ and the Truth! Sometimes harsh but straight to the point.

The storm at sea doesn't let up as Jesus resides in heaven and we on earth have "little faith". We must fend for ourselves, the blind leading the blind. The word has been sown. The sun came up and the earth germinated not the seed for the ground was hard. Thorns and thisles choked the Word for there was lies and corruption. But some shall hear and faint not in their pursuit of the truth, few.

"For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ and shall deceive many." Matthew 24:5 When the disciples asked the Lord, What will be the sign of your coming? His response was simple and direct Don't be naive! Stay Awake! Don't let yourselves be foolishly misled by anyone and everyone who says, I'm a Christian! After that He goes on to describe the results of a world filled with impostors and hypocrites, ignorant and misguided, name only Christians. It will be just like it was in the days before the cataclysm: apostasy, worldliness, selfishness, consciences seared with a hot iron and scarred without feeling NO MORE HAVING ANY CARE TO KNOW THE TRUTH, QUIT SINNING, OR RECEIVE CORRECTION...eating and drinking and carrying on like the world will just go on for ever and no God influencing their lives! It will be the faithfulness and obedience of the true Elect that will provoke the wicked and the hypocrites to persecute us. Because of all these things, God will see no reason for letting the world continue and He will come!

"But he knew their thoughts, and said to the man which had the withered hand, Rise up, and stand forth in the midst..." Most of us are passive and try everything to avoid confrontation. This is praise worthy when we are assaulted without cause, as it gives us a chance to die to self and grow like Jesus. But the Lord Himself is often assertive and proactive to confront evil thoughts and hypocrisy.

Yes those that are not taken in by the false messiah make a stand and are delivered up to death, which is Satan. They know that he is a fake messiah and when delivered up the Holy Spirit speaks through them so listen to what they say. Don't listen to rapture fly away or that Christ comes for some early that's where your running with the devil. Satan comes claiming he is God at the 6th trump.. Wait

"And Jesus answering them said, Have ye not read so much as this,.." He that searches the hearts and the innermost thoughts and intents knows how He made us; and He debates with those who have His Word but don't understand it. God sent His Prophets, and Messengers to bring men His Word, with the expectation of understanding and obedience. How then does someone read or hear and not understand?
  • Servant of God on Mark 3 - 8 years ago
3/29 He who blaspheme the Holy Spirit, has not forgiveness but is endanger of damnation. Those who deny that Jesus is come from God and that his words are of the Holy Spirit (God manifest in earth) are in danger. A house divided cannot stand. Those who accuse Jesus of having a devil while he rebukes Satan are committed to Satan's domain. Those who do God's will are those whom Jesus befriends.

I agree with Servant of God's thoughts. We must not be deceived by religious and political leaders whose principles go contrary to biblical principles. Too many people today turn a blind eye to ungodly actions of our leaders. Matthew 7:20 states, by their fruits ye shall know them. And Proverbs 16:18 declares that pride goeth before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall. Take heed.

Maggie (cont.); As long as we continue seeking Jesus and loving Him first and far above all others, and do not let ourselves slip into disobedience, coldness and lethargy; and we don't harden our hearts or grow indifferent and unbelieving; "As long as Jesus is on the throne and our faith in Him is intact; everything's gonna turn out alright!" We don't walk by feelings, but must deal with feelings.
  • A disciple on Matthew 25 - 8 years ago
Hi Maggie; The Holy Spirit will guide you into all the truth. His chief work is to convict men of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment; and so He will certainly FIRST work in those who of the Household of God in Jesus. When we do what is pleasing to God, He answers us with joy in our hearts. When we do evil, He condemns and convicts so that we'll repent and change. God gives us assurance!

Servant (cont.); If we say that it was the Law of Moses or the Prophets that is the part that makes us unfit and useless before God; don't we by doing so speak against His Word, which He said, "If a man do he shall live, and if he do not he is cursed?" thus emboldening the simple to despise the Word of God! But it is OUR NATURE, CHARACTER and WORKS that makes us stand or fall before His Presence.
  • A disciple - 8 years ago
Servant; "For no man takes a piece from a new cloth, and puts it into an old clothing.." I don't think you really understand something. Keeping the Law and doing the Commandments wasn't the "old clothing" Jesus was referring to; for He already said that He came not to abolish the Law, but to fulfill it! The "old clothing" is the old ruined from wear nature of man that needs to be born anew of God.

"When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord. For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught (the load or quantity drawn) of the fishes which they had taken:" At first Peter thought he was a nice guy and open to Jesus; willing to do what he himself thought looked useless. But Jesus shows him something from GOD!
  • A disciple on Luke 4 - 8 years ago
What is it about Jesus being the Son of God, that is such a thorn in the eyes of the wicked? The main thing the devil can't leave alone, and the thing that he perversely wants to bow down to him, is the fact that Jesus is the Son of God. The unclean spirits in people know that He is the Son of God, and it makes them cry out in terror. Meanwhile it is men that don't want to understand or believe.
  • A disciple on Proverbs 2 - 8 years ago
Proverbs 2:6 For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. The Spirit of Christ brings glad tidings to the poor, healing to the broken in heart, liberty for those crushed under cruelty and oppression, and proclamation of a better Country and a Day of Eternal Righteousness to come. To those who are of the truth, the light springing up in their darkness is the glory of God and salvation but to the rest who hate the light, it is the doom of God's rejection. To Jesus' friends and neighbors in Nazareth it was an offense that someone they thought they knew for thirty years could dare to announce the Glad Tidings of God's salvation with authority. What then sets them in a fury to kill Him, is when He puts His finger directly on their unfitness and rejection of God because of their over familiarity and unbelief. Just like Israel in Elijah and Elisha's times, the people were calloused over in their hearts against the LORD, and had all but forsaken Him for the gods of the heathen so God rejected their widows and lepers and gave the blessing and the healing to strangers who appreciated it. So it is with all knowledge of God's holy things: to those who have shall more be given but to those who have not, even what they have shall be taken away from them.

Just like some people now are against Jesus in the old days they were against God look around at this world people then go back and read the bible from the beginning all the nasty things the people are doing now it started back then .they did not have all the things we have in this world .so u see we cannot blame father God his Son Jesus or The Holy Ghost when we dont listen .Its the people

Monayah; My question was about whether this particular Simon was actually from Cana of Galilee, as the Greek word may suggest; and not mistakenly called a Canaanite. In the Strong's, like you pointed out, kananites means zealous in Greek; or if its simply a transliteration of the Hebrew name, meaning someone from Cana. My point is simply that I doubt if one of the Apostles was a Canaanite.
