But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven. ( 1 Cor. 11:5).
A Woman's role in church
I am in the midst of struggling to find the correct application of what on the surface may seem contradictory teaching in regard to women in the church. Corinthians repeats the command from Timothy for women to remain silent; with further admonition to ask questions to their husbands at home. ( 1 Cor. 14:35).
This is a particularly poignant situation for me because someone I have been following on social media says she feels convicted about expounding on scriptures related to aberrant teachings in the pulpits and across America and is henceforth going to curb certain things. Of course this site also has women who have contributed greatly to discussions; and I know someone who has a book on Revelation that simply outshines anyone else's interpretations in regard to linking cross references and overall knowledge on the subject. Should this keep women with great intellect from discussing or quoting verses which simply reflect the truth of scripture more or less?
I have to head to work now. I wanted to leave this short commentary; and hope that we all think carefully on the subject. I will do my best to come up with answers as I continue to wrestle proper meanings here through other scriptures but admittedly this takes some wrestling to determine what makes sense here. I think a lynchpin to further unlock meaning here is what exactly is usurping authority and what are the parameters that divide mere discussion or even analysis on a subject and teaching the assembly as an elder or Pastor and the specific spiritual gifting in regard to God given authority?
In general; let's see men stand up to the roles they should undertake that have been delegated to women.
"And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living."
Adam names Eve and the Spirit annotates by this phrase, the mother of all." In order to instructs its spiritual significance we need follow his lead; Enmity between thy seed and of the serpent has one womb: Eve the mother of all living. "between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed."(v.15)
The Vision of the Woman Clothed with the Sun (Rev.ch.12) refers to Eve. We see the red dragon, and one third of the stars from the innumerable company of angels cast out inform us where all heresies come from. "And the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born"(12.4) As soon as man child is caught up what is left of her seed still has a place of refuge but not in the same place. Both are wilderness or a dry place. The rebellious dwell in a dry land. The curse on the serpent (3.14) and of the ground (for thy sake) sets the stage where tribulation, which is qualified as great and it is what curse entail and resolve as God has willed.
Meanwhile where is the man child? This is a place the risen Christ has promised the little ones The church of the firstborn.
"Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish." (Mt.18.14)
While we are here groaning for our relief (our inner man is a sign) that we are also represented by the same token so as Jesus says,"That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven."(18.10) How well do we care for the redemption of our souls? In the Parable of the Sheep and Goats we read thus " Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."(Mt.25.40) Daughters of Eve "shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety."(1 Tim.2.15)
"Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them."
In this crucial act God shows his mercy. " For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion."(Rom.9.15)
What are the coats of skins but under the emblem of the slain Lamb in the will of the Father, it makes a world of difference Adam and his wife made aprons from figleaves but here God is telling them their works were inadequate. The work of man's hands shall indeed prove to be woefully inadequate. The Spirit is not so much as with filling in our curiosity but God clothes them to prove, "Without shedding of blood. is no remission."(Heb.9.22)
In the act of clothing Eve as with Adam the Spirit instructs us that redemption is required of every individual. Thus Eve the mother of all lving requires salvation as with 'thy seed'. The sects who make Limited Atonement make lie a doctrine. The bride of Christ is instituted in heavenly places and framed by the word of God, it is a world. God does not curse Adam for his sin of disobedience. God has made his Will complete and perfect. God has already appointed his seed to be a curse instead. "Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree."Gal.3.13)
Gen.1.1 presents with two worlds heaven (or the Will) and the earth, to indicate the Son who shall fulfill them. The pure speech faith holds these worlds together. It is to which Heb.11.3 refers. Last Adam refers to the Will, who is the Lord from heaven while the first man is natural and earthy.(1 Cor.15.45,47)
The first Adam returns to the ground from which was taken but of last Adam the quickening spirit enables us to be part "To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven" and surrounded by 'an innumerable company of angels." We are of the living church.
"cursed is the ground for thy sake;"
Here God is defining disobedience: the curse was laid on the face of the earth.Whatever blessings laid out in the Covenant became shut out. The rebellious live in a dry land.Ps.68.6). Cain is an example who rebelled against divine counsel; by shedding his brother's blood he is cursed. God created Adam as a double forhis Son. Cain also foreshadows the death of his far country to which God shall send Adam due to the sin of disobedience. It is thus a ripple effect shall bring both man and woman who is expelled from heavenly places to the dry ground designated for sinful world.
"in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;/ Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;"
Curse laid on the ground made man toil all day long without gaining much from the labour. Simon Peter makes this clear. "And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net."( Lk 5.5-6) Obedience to the word brought a bumper catch that morning. "And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake." Here we have a clue to the curse. The naturall world under curse was distinct from the world framed by the word of God. The rebellious indeed live in a dry land. But for the obedient salvation is still under offer. " Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. "(Ps.68.19).
God sets the solitary in families and it is a blessing. God set apart His sanctified ones in heavenly places which refers to the world of the Spirit. This family is part of the Will. "And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech." It is to which we are connected . By faith the Covenant sees to our blessings are in His safekeeping to the very end.
I commend President Trump and his team for bringing negotiations to a positive result. Let us pray that this deal will last for many years. It is early and hard to tell how this will turn out in the long run. But, the reunification of hostages with their families is truly a blessing, one that took a long time to come about. Praise the Lord for this.
To God be the Glory. Amen
A very timely scripture. God is our keeper.
He will deliver us from all our errors and
restore us to our right standing with him.
Praise the Lord!
John and the Twelve baptized because God commanded a covenant sign that prepared Israel for the nearness of the promised kingdom. John's mission was prophetic and God-sent: he came to make the Lord's paths straight ( Isa 40:3; Mal 3:1; Matt 3:3), and "He that sent me to baptize with water" defined his work ( John 1:33). His baptism was "of repentance for the remission of sins" ( Mark 1:4; Luke 3:3), publicly separating a believing remnant and manifesting the Messiah to Israel ( John 1:31). This fit Israel's priestly calling and cleansing types-washings consecrated service ( Exod 29:4; Lev 8:6), and prophets promised national purification ( Ezek 36:25; cf. Heb 9:10). Jesus then authorized the apostles to carry this forward in the kingdom gospel: "make disciplesbaptizing" ( Matt 28:19; Mark 16:15-16). At Pentecost Peter summoned Israel: "Repent, and be baptizedfor the remission of sins," with the gift of the Spirit and the hope of restoration ( Acts 2:38-41; 3:19-21). In Acts, water baptism identified penitents with the crucified and risen Christ, marked them off from unbelieving Israel, and was confirmed by signs, for "the Jews require a sign" ( Acts 8:12-17; 10:47-48; 22:16; 1 Cor 1:22; cf. Mark 16:17-18). With the later revelation of the Body of Christ, the saving baptism is the Spirit's work-placing believers into one Body apart from rites ( Eph 4:5; 1 Cor 12:13; Titus 3:5). Therefore Paul could say, "Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel" ( 1 Cor 1:17). In sum, John and the apostles baptized in obedience within Israel's kingdom program-repentance, cleansing, identification, and Spirit-attested entry into the remnant-while today the "one baptism" that saves is the Spirit's, not water ( Eph 2:8-9). This preserves Israel's covenant logic with today's grace-salvation rests on Christ's cross-work by faith - not rites, while water witnessed repentance in Israel.
G&P
Paul's "one baptism" ( Eph 4:5) is the Spirit's act of placing a believer into Christ and into His Body the instant he trusts the gospel. It is not a ceremony man performs, but a divine operation "without hands," uniting us to Christ's death, burial, and resurrection ( 1 Cor 12:13; Rom 6:3-4; Col 2:11-12; Gal 3:27). When you believe, you are sealed with the Holy Spirit and identified with Christ forever ( Eph 1:13-14). That is why Paul can say there is one Body and one Spirit-and therefore one baptism-today ( Eph 4:4-6).
It is not water. Water may picture a truth, but it never produces it. Paul thanks God he baptized only a few and adds, "Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel," drawing a sharp line between the saving message and any ritual ( 1 Cor 1:14-17). Salvation is by grace through faith, "not of works," so no ordinance can be added to the finished cross-work of Christ ( Eph 2:8-9; Tit 3:5). The washings and "baptisms" (plural) connected with Israel's program belong to another administration and the Acts transition ( Mark 1:4; Acts 2:38; Heb 6:2), not to the settled doctrine for the Body of Christ revealed through Paul.
What the one baptism gives you: union with Christ and His people ( 1 Cor 12:13), new identity-"put on Christ" ( Gal 3:27), co-crucifixion and co-resurrection life ( Rom 6:3-5; Col 2:12), and assurance by the Spirit's seal ( Eph 1:13-14). Because this baptism is God's work, it is complete, permanent, and sufficient. The believer's testimony may be public, but his salvation and sanctification rest wholly on Christ and the Spirit's baptizing work, not on a font, a river, or a minister's hands. This rests on Paul's gospel-Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again ( 1 Cor 15:1-4). Believers are new ( 2 Cor 5:17), indwelt by the Spirit ( Rom 8:9), and to hold fast sound words ( 2 Tim 1:13). Thus we glory in Christ not rites ( Phil 3:3).

Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
Here we have the will of God concerning Eve. It is not Adam but the crucial role Eve shall play oncerning 'thy seed'. In his Will Adam is the double or stand in for Jesus Christ. So the last Adam is unchanged. He curses the ground and not Adam as set down in his Will. Not so with Eve who was beguiled. Adam naming her the mother of all living is to be spiritually understood. It is the same what the angel of the Lord shall insist on Samson's mother. " And the angel of the Lord said unto Manoah, Of all that I said unto the woman let her beware." Before vanishing he repeats, "all that I commanded her let her observe."( Judges 13.13-14)
Having said this what does God mean by "And he shall rule over thee'? It is of his Son whom he has set as a sign 'two great lights' where thelesser light is to rule over the night. In the Covenant the Law stipulated What were the two lights for. "And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good./ And the evening and the morning were the fourth day."(i.18-19) Four is the tag for the Word become flesh. Jesus Christ as the true Light declared, "I am the light of this world' which 'thy seed' were to observe every one in their own generation. It was the duty of the mother and Eve as the mother was to observe. This divine Will never changes. In the Will of God the lesser light shall rule over the disobedient and judge them accordingly. In the will of the Father the role of Eve was as one fashioned out of the rib of the man. As such " and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee," established the body of Christ.
In accordance with the Covenant the great congregation was set in heaven as witnesses.(Ps.40.10) This is never broken.
Thank you for sharing these verses.
What then of Ephesians 5:31-32? Paul says the husband-wife union is a mystery that illustrates Christ and the church. But Paul still names our identity repeatedly as His Body ( Eph 1:22-23; 5:30; 1 Cor 12:27), "one new man," and a "new creature" ( 2 Cor 5:17; Gal 6:15)-never calling us the Bride. Even 2 Corinthians 11:2 ("espousedas a chaste virgin") is betrothal imagery used to guard the Body from deception; it does not rename the Body as the Bride nor collapse Israel's prophetic marriage into Paul's mystery people. Keeping these categories distinct preserves both God's faithfulness to Israel's covenants and the uniqueness of the church revealed "not made known" before Paul ( Eph 3:1-9; Rom 16:25-26).
On baptism: John's and Peter's water baptisms belonged to Israel's kingdom program ( Mark 1:4; Luke 7:29-30; Acts 2:38; 22:16)-covenantal, priestly, and preparatory for an earthly nation of priests ( Exod 19:6; Ezek 36:25-27). In this dispensation, Christ sent Paul "not to baptize, but to preach the gospel" ( 1 Cor 1:17), and there is "one baptism" ( Eph 4:5) by which the Spirit places us into Christ's death and resurrection ( Rom 6:3-5; 1 Cor 12:13; Col 2:11-12). Romans 6 describes that Spirit baptism's identification with Christ-not a ritual that completes salvation. We are saved by grace through faith apart from works ( Eph 2:8-9; Titus 3:5). Water may testify, but it cannot add to the finished cross-work ( John 19:30; Gal 2:21). To make it a salvation requirement would muddle Israel's kingdom commands with the Body's grace calling.
So, yes: saints from Israel's program and from the Body will both be with Christ and under His rule-but Scripture differentiates their identities and spheres. Israel/Zion/New Jerusalem is the Bride/Wife in prophecy and Revelation; the Body is the heavenly people of the mystery, bone of His bone and seated above. Keeping those distinctions guards the gospel of grace today and honors God's promises to Israel tomorrow.
G&P
First, on reigning with Christ: I agree Revelation 2:26-27 promises ruling authority to overcomers at Thyatira, and Revelation 20:4 shows martyrs from "all nations" sharing in Christ's rule. The question is not whether redeemed people reign, but who reigns where within God's revealed programs. Paul discloses a "one new man" ( Eph 2:15) called the Body of Christ, blessed "in heavenly places" and seated there now ( Eph 1:3; 2:6). Israel, by contrast, is promised an earthly kingdom under Messiah ( Isa 2:1-4; Jer 23:5-6; Matt 19:28; Acts 1:6; 3:19-21). Both realms are under the same Lord, but the stewardships and destinations differ ( 2 Tim 2:12; 1 Cor 6:2-3).
That leads to the Bride question. Dispensationally, the Body of Christ is not the Bride of Christ. In Scripture, bridal/marriage language is consistently tied to Israel and Zion:
"Thy Maker is thine husband" ( Isa 54:5).
"I will betroth thee unto me for ever" ( Hos 2:19-20).
"As the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, so shall thy God rejoice over thee" ( Isa 62:4-5).
In Revelation the identification becomes explicit: "Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wifeand he shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem" ( Rev 21:9-10). The city bears Israel's fingerprints-twelve tribes on its gates and the twelve apostles on its foundations ( Rev 21:12-14). Moreover, the wife in Revelation 19:7-8 is arrayed in "fine linenthe righteous acts of saints," fitting the works-tested, kingdom saints who endure (cf. Matt 24:13; Rev 14:12), not the grace-standing, already-perfected righteousness imputed to the Body ( Rom 3:21-26; Phil 3:9).

To God be the Glory:
"and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life."
The many generations which have made the world show progress as a blessing, a dubious one at that. nations emerging from the great flood were busy making tower reaching unto the heavens and let us make us a name," did not achieve either. in fact we are feeding on microplastics than dust. Jesus called the children of disobedience, the adulterous and the generation of vipers. Do we need any more evidence that we face at every part of the globe? When the seraphim continuously worship God, holy holy holy the cry is this mud hole is, drill, drill, drill. The enmity between light and darkness shall onnly grow worse. "For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee."(Isa.60.2)
"And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel."
Bruise thy head shows progress of man has been over the ruins of his own handiwork. Bronze age was a marvel but now they are museum pieces. Think of the Age of internet! Information within the reach of everyone? Only problem is man cannot what is true or false and his mind is muddled to rely on his AI chatbots for a bit of intimacy. " For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them./ For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:/Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened."(Rom.1.18-21
"And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
The serpent under curse suddenly loses his backbone. Upon his belly shall thou go. The serpent as created by God in the world framed by God is how Jesus makes an object lesson of him."Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves."(Mt.10.16) The world of shadows under the cover of darkness refer to the world where natural man and who is earthy is in his element.
What Jesus refers is holy mountain of Zion and holy Jerusalem, where as Isaiah says, And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den./They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea."(Isa.11.8-9)
So let us place Jesus and his disciple in a world as distinct from the world without. The sign Immanuel refers to the world where God among us before sending his sheep has to warn them of the world where the prince of this world has let nations make their own rules. Their rules are for wolves to the detriment of the sheep. Man who holding the highest office shall wage war against his own house but demand to be called a peace maker and a prize, in recognition of it. You see sycophancy of men going on their bellies to pamper his whims, however immoral may be. This is what God tells the serpent who served as a proxy for the devil.
v.15 " And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel." This enmity is what Ge.1.2 refers. Generation of Jesus Christ on which the Spirit of God canwork with while darkness covers the seed of the serpent.
When we are approved of God we are indeed in His own image and have the right of way at the gate, Joy and peace in Him,
Sunday, or first day of the week, was a day set aside by early Christians to come together to worship the Lord & learn from His Word ( Acts 20:7), separate from the Jewish Sabbath and probably in remembrance and inline with the Lord's Resurrection on the first day of the week. And of course, Sunday can be utilized as a day of rest, spiritual contemplation, and being of service to others. So, apart of this aspect of rest and spiritual exercises, not much else is similar to the Sabbath Day observance by Israel.
However, Hebrews 4:9,10 states: "There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his." And this rest has been promised to all who place their trust in Jesus. We look not just for that one day of rest from physical activity, but a true abiding rest in our Savior; resting from our efforts we made previously to please God, and now finding perfect rest by the ministry of His Spirit in our hearts & lives seven days a week.
In the last para:
Faith is the pure speech and in the manner Eve avoided answering a direct question from God tells us a curtain had fallen from them"
please read as
" Faith is the pure speech and in the manner Eve avoided answering a direct question from God tells us a curtain had fallen between them"
" And the Lord God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat."
God asks a direct question and Eve prevaricate. Unlike the Son in the Parable of the Prodigal Son who confessed which is the classic example of reconciliation for one who squandered his life away. " I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,/ And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants."
The Son stung by his folly calmly sits down and recalls his past and collects his mind. He judged himself and presents before his father whose mercy illustrates our Father which art in heaven. "And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him./And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son."(Lk.15.18-21)
In this passage Eve and Adam are blaming each other. Sin always leave a messy trail.
The Law set the Covenant and framed a world as distinct from the land of shadows, under the cover of darkness. God set a simple House Rule that man and woman could not keep. Blessing of obedience,- and it was offered in his own Son had no takers.
"What is this that thou hast done?" Heavenly blessings on man and woman we may count for them. There was holy communion between God and man. Faith is the pure speech and in the manner Eve avoided answering a direct question from God tells us a curtain had fallen from them. Outward symptom was in their shame. "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love."( 1 Jn 4.18) Pure Language existed between the Father and the Son. Man sinned and came shoort of the glory. Man was created 'in our likeness' and sin damaged it.
