End of day 10 Bible reading. Fascinating "stuff". Many of Jacob's trials are part of his own undoing, but in those trials we see him exercise a steady dependence upon God to see him through. These chapters are rich in history. There is drama with all kind of emotion feigned or real and noone is seen that is completely selfless. But Jacob is, like Abraham, the stranger and he learns to trust.

We see/experience the trouble caused by the wicked and,in our impatience, cry to God for justice, now. The wicked exist only in the mercy of God, as he withholds judgement,as with believers also.Known only to God is his plan for every person. "I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion."Rom9:15 Having grace we ought to pray, thy will be done.

Bill there is but 1 God the father but this 1 God wants to multiply himself via his seed. Christ was the beginning of this multiplication via his seed. i will make him my 1st born. which was the beginning of this divine multiplication. The Father wd not instruct all the angels to worship his son if he were not God.God himself wd be breaking the 1st commandment IF CHRIST were not GOD THE SON. GBU

18 above... she earned the title 'Babylon the Great'; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived; She seduced all kings... now she shall receive her reward for her actions... Lots of blood is on her hand, now she must pay for her actions... The 'love' of / for money is the root to all evil; Ships sailed from afar to do buisness with her... She controled World-Wide buying and selling in 18.

Simon the "Canaanite" seems to be a mistake in the KJV translation; since ALL the Apostles were Israelites, and were strictly brought up to keep separate from non Jews. Plus, more importantly; in the Greek it seems to indicate rather that this Simon was "from Cana" and not a Palestinian Canaanite! Read about all the explaining Peter had to when he was called to go preach to the house of Cornelius.
  • Servant of God on Luke 5 - 8 years ago
The garment in this parable represents the teaching of Moses and the Prophets, as of how we are clothed in heaven with our righteous acts and knowledge of the Torah. Jesus, the Messiah is meant to repair the threadbare parts but he knows the disputes that lie ahead from the leaders of the Temple. They will be threatened and rouse the people against the Christ. Jesus stay on earth was short.

  • A disciple on Luke 4 - 8 years ago
servant; it sounds like you don't believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is in fact the eternal Son of God; but you write as if the Lord is merley like any other man, who at some point mysteriously became, (or realized), that He was the Christ. Jesus is God manifest in the flesh, and was in divine glory from all eternity WITH the Father. He didn't discuss Torah He IS the Law and the holy Glad Tidings.
  • A disciple on Jeremiah 10 - 8 years ago
"He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion." What a magnificent Word is this! Man doesn't need proof of God's divine power and understanding and will never learn the truth of anything that He has made by all their study and learning. He gives knowledge and understanding to the simple who love and obey Him.
  • Jim Louttit on Genesis 27 - 8 years ago
God favour Jacob over Esau. But all the main people in this story tried to overrule God's plan by their own plans. God is sovereign and His way is sure and will rule in the end. Everyone pays for their deception in the end. Esau loses his birthright and blessing. Rebekah loses Jacob because she gets him cheat and jJacob has to flee because he went along with his mother and cheated His brother.

Vay; Thank you for speaking up! Nice to hear from you! YES! It is like the Sermon on the Mount, TOTALLY; and the Parable of the Sower, and the Wheat and the Tares, and the Wise and Foolish Virgins, and the Good and Faithful House Managers next to the One who went and hid his Lord's money. What's wrong with hypocrisy? Stage-playing, giving a misleading appearance meant to conceal one's true nature!

GAR (cont.) That's just it, isn't it? "Let your light thus shine before men, THAT THEY MAY SEE YOUR GOOD WORKS AND GLORIFY YOUR FATHER IN HEAVEN." Why did Cain murder his brother? Because his own WORKS were evil, AND HIS BROTHER'S RIGHTEOUS. By what will the Spirit in us convict the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment; if not by our love for Jesus SHOWN BY keeping His commandments?

Peter told the cripple man at the gate silver and gold have i none but such as i have give i unto thee.Peter's faith was much more valuble then Silver or Gold. Money means nothing if your child is in the ER and on life support or HAS CANCER ETC ITS OUR FAITH THAT IS SO VALUBLE IN TIMES OF TROUBLE. We cannot call on money to help us,only GOD CAN HELP US IN TIMES OF HORROR . GBU
  • Vay on Matthew 17 - 8 years ago
You're right about the "whole point"! It's like the Sermon on the Mount, isn't it, where we're to give our cloaks if our coat is taken (stolen), go the extra mile, forgive and love and pray for our enemies. Examine and find ourselves faultless before making our self-offering! When we don't obey these Christian lessons from Jesus' Mountain-top Sermon, we're still taught them but through trials.

End of Daily Bible Reading for this day. Join in. I like to read along as I listen to the audio version. Being an heir is important. Being a co-heir is what believers should strive to be. The firstborn son was important because of the birthright attached to it, but Esau didn't see it that way. To him the birthright only had value if he could use it for his own purpose: not for God or family.

Jesus-Church. He would daily be in the Church, or Temple with critical discussion regarding the Torah. When at the Reading of Issiah they heard enough andtossed him out! The Devil tempted him with being at the pinnacle of the Church, "Get there behind me Satan" What a card, that Satan. Woe unto Jesus if he didn't preach the gospel for therefore was he sent forth, to teach, and to witnessTruth

What doth it profit? What does your faith profit to the observer if he cannot see any works? Can faith, not being seen by works, bring the observer to a point where he will be saved? Can faith, that has works to show the faith, communicate to the observer truths which can save him? I want my faith to be seen by my works so that people, observers, can possibly come to the point of being saved.

"Keep thy heart with all diligence for out of it are the issues of life." Proverbs 4:23 Whenever the Lord confronts those who love Him, or those who opposed Him, He never speaks in terms of "if" or "how possibly" they should keep God's commandments, but rebukes them for their empty outward show and misrepresenting religion, and for making their own thoughts more important traditions than doing what God commands and tells plainly how it is the inner man of the heart that God sees and knows, out of which all our doings are either accepted or rejected of Him. Always, and in every case, it is a matter of the heart either being good and honest and working out a course in life according to the fear of God or, a hardened and selfish unclean heart that only seeks the praise of men and lives entirely by outward appearance. Out of the abundance of the heart the manner of life, and the true nature of the man. How many times does the Spirit say to us, My son, Let thine heart keep my commandments, and LIVE! Our spirit directs our eyes and ears, and presides over every matter of our hearts. By these are our actions performed and the intentions of our heart weighed, showing what kind we are to God.

"Put them in fear, O LORD: that the nations may know themselves to be but men." But men and not gods, as was put before them in the garden. What glorious things will appear and happen when God tears away the lying veil from the eyes of the world. Fear/reverence for the person of God, without end, hallelujah. There is no saving this planet earth, which God will build anew, fit for eternity.
