Consider unequally yoked and equally yoked. Certainly, we are not to be equally yoked (meaning the same as). Here it is saying that we should not even be unequally (not the same as or similar) yoked, but be separate, totally separate! Otherwise, the scripture would not have went on to say, "come out from among them", meaning to be away from or apart from. This is not just in the sense of marriage.

Notice Gideon in the first three verses proves the words of Solomon by way of the Holy Spirit right: A soft answer turneth away wrath.

The original '300'! God uses the weak to confound the strong!

Verse 10: God has not dealt with us by giving us what we deserve as sinful humans and that is death. He gave his son as a way for our sins to be forgiven and a way for us to gain everlasting life.

Verse 9: We want to deal with one another with true justice, but at the same time we must be merciful with one another.
  • A disciple on 1 John 3 - 8 years ago
Dear Vicki; I have to address part of what you wrote. You said, "..That may RESULT in changed behavior but it s not changed behavior that saves. See Ephesians 2:8-9." But you have to complete the sentence! "..For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." If we don't show a good result and proof of Grace, we perish!

Verse 17: Jesus preached to people and encouraged them to repent or turn around from their bad course.
  • A disciple on 1 John 3 - 8 years ago
Dear Vicki; There will be MANY who are left standing OUTSIDE and UNABLE TO ENTER; because THEY DID NOT DO WHAT JESUS HAS COMMANDED US! It is a false teaching that will damn the souls of those who believe it; that says, because salvation is a gift we somehow have nothing to do! EVERYTHING that Jesus taught is that we must DO whatever He says if we hope at all to be saved! Mt. 5:16; 7:13-27; 21:28-31

Verse 52: The Pharisees failed to unlock the meaning of God's Word and help others on the way to eternal life.

Tim; Fornication breaks the marriage bond just as if the one had died; and it is the ONLY reason, according to the Lord Jesus, that one may leave its spouse; and a brother or sister is not under bondage in such cases. Adultery, fornication, rape... they are all like murder in God's view! I completely agree with you, that as the Elect of God, who walk in Truth, CHRISTIANS ARE NOT THE HARD HEARTED.

Verses 16 and 17: God outright describes some of the things that he detests. We want to make sure to stay as far away from these things as possible.

Indeed, Faith is Confidence. Confidence that the Promises of God are true. Progression through life is peppered with many instances where we can place our confidence in ourselves, or confidence that God will fulfill His promises...exhibiting our Faith in God by recognizing He fulfills His promises through our Righteousness.

Verse 4: Jehovah God has an abundance of mercy. We should show our appreciation and thank God for this wonderful quality that he displays.
  • Laurie on Psalms 100 - 8 years ago
I remember as a child going to Sunday School, that my mom insisted I learn a Psalm by heart. I chose Psalm 100. I recall the last line in verse five of the King James Version as being "His true endures forever and ever." I like it written this way so much better. Where is the King James Translation that says it this way? Or am I mistaken?
  • Christ Magnified Glorifying Jesus on Exodus 7 - 8 years ago
End of day 18 in the "Bible in a Year Reading. Had to play catchup having missed yesterday. I love reading and contemplating these chapters that span the life of Moses. When Moses had to flee from Pharaoh he had to leave everything behind unlike today I can only imagine the hostilities that he could have encountered. God protected him and Moses depended upon God to deliver his people.

Verse 3: We see how loving and merciful Jehovah God is. He commanded that a way be prepared for the unintentional murderer so that they can flee to the cities of refuge.

God is forever present even though when we are in doubt at our darkest hour, he will surely wipe away our tears and rekindled our hearts through his grace

  • Servant of God on Luke 11 - 8 years ago
Sermon of Jesus, the man who loved God. These parables urge us to direct our supplication to God, from whom the wonders come forth. As Jonah, whose preaching caused the men, and women to repent. As Queen of Sheba, who sought wisdom from the wisest man alive. Woe to the lawyers, for they profit from the misery they inflict. Woe to the religious hiarchy, hypocrites in their complicity with Gov.
  • Ann Hering on 1 Corinthians 11 - 8 years ago
1,2 Corinthians is written to the church of God at Corinth, a Jewish Little Flock church. These people are prophesying because the completed Word of God did not exist yet. 1Cor 11:1-16 instructs these Jewish men who prophesy to shave their head, like Paul did, and the women, who prophesied, to have their hair as a covering. These ordinances were in the transition from law to grace. Not for today!

don't lean on your own strength but God.
  • Vicki on 1 John 3 - 8 years ago
Son of David, would you by chance be Catholic? I know they don t believe we can know we re saved until we die and that is false and directly contradicts Scripture. See 1 John 5:13. Salvation is a gift, we do not earn it by how we live. We receive it as a gift by faith in Christ. That may RESULT in changed behavior but it s not changed behavior that saves. See Ephesians 2:8-9.

Verse 14: I was eating breakfast reading a book and out of nowhere came this voice saying "WAIT ON THE LORD". I have been going thru a horrible time. I had never read that passage..I looked it up. Now it is the only thing that gets me thru the day. My brother has cancer. Lost my job..
.losing my house. But I know God will get me thru all of this as he has all these years. PRAISE GOD

  • Melvin on Psalms 96 - 8 years ago
Worship and praise should be a life style.
  • A disciple on Psalms 7 - 8 years ago
Steve M; Neither Jesus nor any of the Apostles or Prophets ever went around only speaking Scriptures without teaching the sense and the meaning of the Sacred Text. We need to know what the Scripture means if we want to expound it to others; for how can someone believe in what they can't understand? When the Ethiopian Noble needed help understanding the meaning of the Scriptures, Philip explained.
  • A disciple on Luke 10 - 8 years ago
"Who is this guy???" It is shameful and horrifying how easily some think they can talk so flippant and disrespectful about the Son of God, who came to earth out of pity FOR YOU to sacrifice Himself IN YOUR PLACE to bear the punishment of YOUR SINS, when He had done nothing wrong! Christian has nothing to do with paradigm of religion. The ONLY WAY God said we can be saved is through His Son Jesus.
  • A disciple on John 2 - 8 years ago
Kevin; The Jews demand a sign; and as Jesus always said to them, in sometimes different ways but essentially the same thing: There will NO SIGN be given them, but the sign of His death and resurrection.
