To Irene123. It seems to me like your knowledge has you puffed up....Why would you attack a Man of God when he is simply asking a question about Peters nakedness.

His mercy is new every morning. He is unsearchable yet close as a brother. He is majestic yet everpresent. Enigmatic.

The biggest mistake we can make as Christians is to believe that Jesus is a being separate from God, i.e., God is here and Jesus is there. This nonsense is refuted when God plainly tells us in verse 4, "And thou shalt know no God but me: for there is no Savior but me." This has to be true today or the Bible will make no sense. And if we say it is not true we disbelieve what God plainly says.

When Jehovah God says in Hos 13:4 "for there is no saviour beside me," he was saying that it is he who came to the earth that Christmas day and walked the earth as a man. And it is he who healed the sick, raised the dead, gave sight to the blind and made the lame walk. And finally, it is he who went to the cross and died to pay our sin debt. O how I wish we could understand! Praise God!

Here is further proof that the child born to Mary is the Almighty God. The prophet Isaiah said this about the ministry of John the Baptist: "He is a voice shouting in the wilderness, 'Make a highway for the Lord through the wilderness. Make a straight smooth road through the desert for our God. ...Yes your God is coming ... he will feed his flock like a shepherd!'" Oh I wish we could understand.

Verse 21 says, "And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins." This is a reference to what David said about Jehovah God in Ps 25:5:"Lead me; teach me; for you are the God who gives me salvation. I have no hope except in you." And to what he said about Jehovah God in Ps 96:2:"Sing out his praises! Bless his name ... he saves."

Verse 25 says: "And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS." The name Jesus means "the God who saves" or "God save me." This proves that Mary knew of Isaiah 9:6 that says her son would be Jehovah God. It reads: "For a child is born to us, a son is given to us ... his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Everlasting Father ... the Mighty God."

P.S. - my mainline church I was raised in - died several years ago. All the older generation that attended died and couldn't be supported because the younger gens. moved to larger cities - for the money and or fame. When there is no freedom of His spirit ................

V. 9 - I have to 'smile', or laugh, when I read this verse. I was raised in a 'pharisee' church, a mainline church. All strict protocol; no emotion, but then emotion was strictly 'boxed up' - tightly. Now, I'm in a TRUE church of Jesus Christ - salvation by Acts 2:38 and shouting praise, clapping hands, running the aisles in the spirit and beautiful songs, worship.

To Jerry Parker - You've read 1 Jn.3:24. Now go to Acts 2:37-38 to see HOW we have His spirit in us. Notice the people said, "Men and brethren, what must we DO?" Living for God is not a 'passive' thing; you have to DO something physically, just as Jesus did; He did not passively die on a cross. He DID something to save us. And you SHALL receive; that is a PROMISE; God cannot lie.

Something I literally just now noticed - I went to ch. 3 and saw Peter's healing of the lame man at the gate; somewhere I read (not on here) that this was the Apostle's first healing. No, it wasn't; in ch. 2, after the message, "many signs and wonders were done ....."; the 'gate' healing was spoken of as a miraculous miracle because of their 'instant' faith, right on the spot.

To Bible Reader on salvation - repentance, baptism in the name of Jesus; do you include the 'evidence' of tongues in that .....?

To Pastor Troy - Why are you a pastor if you don't know the answer to Peter's nakedness.....? Anyway, it could be an allegory to his sin in denying Jesus 3 times; the sin made him naked .....? Just a stab in the dark. Maybe Peter's coat was his attempt to cover his own sin? OR - it could just be that it was summer and the nights were still hot. You sweat a lot in that work.

The book Joel is showing us the true makeup of God,He can send His wrath when He's trying to get His people's attention , He will warn man too ,because He loves man..He would rather share His love thourgh the Holy Spirit to comfort not chasten ,but if your His He will save you..
