In the life of Christ; we see the perfect example for our own lives; that is Christ doing nothing except the Father's will. ( John 5:19). We are likewise instructed to learn to do the "good and perfect will of God" as described at the end of Romans 12:2.

I would strongly urge everyone here to study and memorize Romans 12:1-2 as it is a "package deal" in regard to what I am saying here and of course; more importantly the will of God for our lives after we are saved and being sanctified. We are "aliens" in this world and pilgrims if we are His own ( 1 Peter 2:11-12). This requires due diligence to not only fight indwelling sin; but to realize that the whole world system and those "powers and principalities" running it ( Eph. 6:12) are enemies which we fight against as the Spirit contends against the flesh. Without understanding the source of our temptations which as belivers is Satan then we are unable to recognize things that are affecting our "vain imaginations" ( Romans 1:21) as with the rest of the unregenerate to find solace and comfort in this world and what is seen by our eyes and promoted as things that will make us content. The enemy can only affect us if we allow access through our mind and senses to give him a stronghold; so that is why we need to have an Ephesians 6 mindset. Ephesians 6:16 on the fiery darts of the enemy and our shield of armor in the spiritual realm is particularly vital.

Sadly we have the natural tendency to look on things that are pleasing to our eyes (such as attractive women) and thus we need to ask God to show us how following His good and perfect will means we are to love those we are naturally repulsed toward and to find our greatest joys in service toward His Body which He purchased with His own blood ( Acts 20:28). That verse makes it clear that it is His church rather than our own. That comes from a proper fear of the Lord and a mature walk.

My understanding they are part of each other. Obedience is dependent on our faith that we live by with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The first Adam broke the relationship and God's dwelling place in man when he was disobedient in eating from that tree. Faith can be measured through our obedience which is the visible expression of our faith.

The Bible says that Jesus learned obedience from what He suffered and was made perfect, Heb. 8:5. Jesus gave us perfect examples of being obedient He did nothing of His own it was the Father's will not His, Luke 4:18 John 5:30 John 14:10. When Jesus was in the garden just before He was taken, He asked the Father if there was a different way but not His will but the Father's, Luke 22:42 but Jesus was obedient unto death.

We cannot be saved by works; we cannot earn our salvation. Is being obedient considered works? My understanding is no. Obedience is not an option it is a command, we either obey or disobey like the first Adam. If we are obedient, we are dutiful and compliant to His commands.

Our faith, Heb.1:1 by the grace of God that we fully trust Him regardless of what we may face, not with our logic but with His, and the promises God has given us, our hope is not in this world but the eternal one that our hope is in, that with patience we wait and watch for to come.

What is Christ doing today? Oh, I know, the saints like to say that He ascended to heaven and is sitting at God's right hand, but if you interpret that to mean that He is doing nothing, you miss it. He said, "My Father worketh hitherto, and I work" ( John 5:17). He is busy today. But what is He doing? He is the King, but He has been rejected. And since He has been rejected He has taken off His crown, He has put it to the side. He has taken off His royal robe and has put on the clothes of a farmer. He is sowing seed in the world today. Sowing seed is His business.

Now let's define that in spiritual terms. Let's translate it from agriculture to theology. What is He sowing? What is this seed that our Lord is sowing in the world? We do not have to guess. In Matthew 13:19 we read, "When any one heareth the word of the kingdom." What, then, is the seed? It is the Word. The Bible that I hold in my hand is the seed. And there is life in it. It is just as potent as any seed planted in the ground. The Word of God is seed.

What is the field where the seed is being sown? Matthew 13:38 gives the answer: "The field is the world." So now we have the sower identified, we have the seed identified, and we have the field identified. This is the picture of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Sower, taking the Word of God and sowing it in the world. That is His business today.

Again I want to remind you that the field is not the church, it is Christendom. The field is the world today.

I would agree with your understanding of the Scriptures Eagan, on this matter. Though there are Scriptures that show that the one in Christ is eternally secure ( John 10:27-29; 1 John 5:13; Ephesians 1:13,14; 1 Peter 1:5; and many more), there are also many others verses that seem to show that salvation can be lost & one must work hard in their faith to ensure that they will make it to the end & be accepted.

So, when one considers ALL of the verses pertaining to this subject, somehow it has to be reconciled what Jesus or the other writers are actually saying. Just like whether the Rapture is pre, mid, post, or anything else, we can get into a similar problem. For this one, my underlying Truth is that the Great Tribulation is God's Judgement against the unbelieving Christ-rejecting world, therefore those in Christ will be saved from it.

For Eternal Security, the underlying Truth is the truly repentant soul has come in faith (& nothing else), been regenerated by the Holy Spirit, indwelt by Him, put on a new path towards Heaven, with the Mighty God and His Son being his all-consuming focus & passion & not the world. Can such a person ever be lost again - deciding, 'No, I prefer to follow the world & reject Christ?' We can never know how real another's salvation has been - nor should we ever place ourselves in that position of making such a judgement. Or, whether one's faith is being tested & some errors & backsliding are taking place - to which the Holy Spirit will move, alert, warn or chastise to bring him back. But the fact of the matter is, that 'the Lord knows who are His', He 'knows His sheep & His sheep hear His Voice', and His sheep will obey the Shepherd even if there has to be some stern words & goading.

Thus Galatians 5:22-25 are so important, especially "they THAT ARE Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit." These are the marks of the one truly saved, living for Christ.

What a great testimony Ssmith82 and thank you for sharing what the Lord has done for you and can do when one comes to the end of oneself & cries unto the Lord for deliverance & healing. It is good that you are staying in God's Word & prayer as well as confessing Jesus to others. Satan can never stand against that but be ever prepared for his buffetting, for "we are not ignorant of his devices". Ephesians 6:11,12; 1 John 5:4,5.

That is a very interesting question; and I would have to agree with you.

The first issue here you brought up as to the role the Spirit is playing. It is part of the Godhead; Jesus said will He not give you more of the Spirit if you ask Him ( Luke 11:13) referring to asking the FATHER for the "good gifts". We can certainly praise God or Jesus for what comes from Him; thus involving through worship; singing and or prayer.

Another problem is whether the spirit being invoked is the Holy Spirit or some other thing that appeals to the flesh. If the Spirit is working then of course it reminds us of "sin; righteousness and judgment to come" ( John 16:8-11). We are thus to be humbled; and through that "sacrifice of praise" ( Heb. 13:15-16) then He is truly exalted.

This is tricky as the Holy Spirit is to be exalted and revered as part of the Godhead. As you pointed out though in Christ's life and scriptures this sort of activity (praying TO the Spirit or any other form of worship) didn't occur. The Spirit was His helper and is said to be ours. The SOURCE is always from heavenly places and proceeds from the Father. This is also the case with Christ who is to be worshipped Himself but also in the Godhead He did nothing of His own but did the "works of the Father"; John 5:19 actually makes it clear that He can do NOTHING of His own. Nonetheless God has raised Him up giving Him all authority (which He already had but it was made official). ( Matt. 28:18-20).

I will have to give this question further consideration; and may have further thoughts later on. I have a feeling there are some other pertinent points that need to be made and this could be a real discussion starter.

Hello WhiteWalkDawg. There have been several interpretations of this verse, so you might get other views. For me though, I believe that 1 John 5:6 speaks of Jesus' inauguration to His Earthly Mission and then finally His completion of it. Therefore, the Water signifies His baptism by John, to which the Holy Spirit was witness, by His descent upon Jesus ( John 1:32,33). And the Blood signifies His shed Blood at the Cross, where Jesus said "it is finished...and gave up the Ghost" (or, released His Spirit), John 19:30.

So, not only in the Gospel of John, but also in this his first epistle, we read of the Holy Spirit's witness & involvement; which witness could not be disputed, unlike some in John's day who were trying to dispute the truth of Jesus' Person & Work. In 1 John 5:6, the Spirit of Truth bore witness to Jesus' start & completion of His Work. In 1 John 5:7, we read of the Triune God bearing record in Heaven, and then in verse 8 (on Earth), three bear witness to Jesus' Mission.

We do well to "receive the witness of men" & we are likely to be convinced. But "the witness of God is greater" (1 John 5:9), which must give us no room for any doubt & a certainty that all that Jesus has accomplished for us is fully accepted by those to whom the Spirit of God has been given.

I would put a pitch in here for those searching to consider (after of course checking the validity) of online arranged marriages for Christians. That is a way to assure that we get to know the families ahead of time; and people are matched up with the wisdom of the temperments that the parents deem worthy for their daughters. It also avoids some of the silly dating and other situations that can lead to temptation; as well as getting down to business. It also is a good way to maintain Christian fellowship long term with families.

At least I can say with some confidence that it is better than many other "online" sites where people can photo shop their faces; or "reinvent" themselves to create whatever fantasy another may have to suit their purposes; or to find some way after a time to rip them off financially; etc. We also don't get a good idea of how valid someone's faith is in that way. Not to say that it can't work but I would take up my arranged marriage suggestion first before randomly looking for love on dating sites...

Of course what is well known by counsellors is that no one can "make you happy" if you are miserable within. only the Lord Jesus is transformative in the inner man; He is our confidence; our portion and our cup. ( Psalm 16:15; 1 John 5:14; Hebrews 10:35-36). Joy is a spiritual fruit and of course our faith in the Lord must take priority over everything and everyone. Psalm 37:3-4 asks us to TRUST in the Lord (take delight in Him) and He will give us the desires of our heart.

To find a partner we must trust that they will come alongside us in a time fitting with His plans. It should involve a help mate that will build us up as we fulfill the ministry or vocation He has called us in. I would venture to say normally we don't have to search at all but if we do it should be more like Genesis 24:1-10 when Abraham sent his servant out to find someone of his people for Isaac.

I pray that your son will be born again in Jesus name. By His grace.

And that the LORD will reveal His Will for him, and plant His desires

in his heart. And for His peace that passeth all understanding to

And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward:

Amen to that! I have said this before and this is what I believe about prayer:

To me, prayer is the means by which I express my submission to Gods will in whatever it is I am praying for.

What that means is when I petition the Lord in prayer and ask for His will to be done, I have the promise according to 1 John 5:14-16 that He will answer my prayer.

It doesn't matter what it is, He will answer if I ask according to His will. Now, I know that doesn't mean I'm always going to get what I expect, and my situation might even get worse, but it will be according to His will, and I must accept it and thank Him either way!

Often times people pray for things, whether it be for better health, better finances, new job, or whatever they are praying for, but in their prayer, the do not pray for His will to be done, and then wonder why their prayer was not answered.

But if we pray anything according to His will, that prayer will be heard and answered. And we have to submit and accept whatever His will is.

Hello Peggy. You could look up the following Scriptures on Jesus Christ's Deity (i.e. God's fullness found in Jesus ( Colossians 2:9) & in His Holy Spirit). Jesus' Deity is proved by:

a. His Names: Hebrews 1:8, John 20:28 (God); Matthew 16:16, Matthew 26:61-65 (the Son of God); Matthew 22:41-46 (Lord); Revelation 19:13 (Word of God); Revelation 19:16 (King of kings and Lord of lords).

b. His Characteristics: Matthew 28:18 (Omnipotence: all powerful); Luke 6:8, John 2:24,25, John 13:11 (Omniscience: all knowing); Matthew 18:20 (Omnipresence: present in any place); John 1:4 (Life); John 14:6 (Truth); Hebrews 13:8 (Immutability: unchanging); 1 Timothy 3:16, John 1:1-14 (God manifest in the flesh in Jesus).

c. His Works: John 1:3, Colossians 1:16 (creates); Colossians 1:17 (sustains); Luke 7:48,49 (forgives sin); John 11:41-44 (raises the dead); John 5:27 (judges); John 15:26 (sends the Holy Spirit).

d. His receiving Worship: Hebrews 1:6 (from angels); Revelation 5:11-13 (from other heavenly beings); Matthew 14:33 (from men); Philippians 2:10 (from all).

I hope you can see from these few Scriptures that Jesus was not just a special Man or Prophet sent by God, but truly was "God manifested in the flesh". No other man before Jesus' coming, during, or after His leaving this Earth, could ever fully reflect God's Glory, Wisdom & Power. Only God could - and He did this by sending us His Word, made Him a Man, so that He could give His Life as full payment for our sins - but only to those who believe this & place their trust in Him. To some, the 'Trinity' teaching is abominable. But man's salvation depends on the Divine Person of the Lord Jesus Christ - that God could accept no other Sacrifice to redeem & secure people to Himself - only by giving fully of Himself, which is true love for all.

Hi Estelle, the trinity (or Godhead) is mentioned in verses like 1 John 5:7.

The Godhead is mentioned in verses like Romans 1:20.

The KJV doesn't have the word trinity, but "Godhead" and uses 'we' and 'us' plural in places even though God is one. Galatians 3:20

Some unfortunately use this as a weapon to attack who God is, so its worth noting that the word Bible isn't in the Bible either, but that doesn't mean it isn't one. The KJV doesn't have the word demons, but that doesn't mean there's no demons. It doesn't have "labor", "encouragement", "suicide", "anxiety", "honor", but they are still real and true subjects discussed within. So for any onlookers with questionable motives in their heart, this busts one of the most common strawman arguments dishonestly made against God.

Hi Neveah. Just further to GiGi's accurate & helpful comment, I would like to clarify an oft mistaken understanding of the Person of God. As you asked, "How can God be three people at the same time?", I think many people, even some Christians, seem to think that the word 'Trinity' implies three gods. Why? Because it's difficult for the human finite mind to comprehend how one can be divided into three & still equal one, without becoming fractions. But it's not one dividing into three, but three together manifesting the one.

This is where the first error comes in: that some believe that God can be divided. The Scriptures remind us that God is One ( Deuteronomy 6:4; Deuteronomy 4:35,39) & there is no other god beside Him. Then the fact that we read in the Word, of God's Spirit and God's Son, we are then inclined to believe that the Spirit & Son are separate gods from the One God. The Bible tells us in 1 John 5:7, "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one." So, in the person of God we find the evidence of Father, the Word, & the Holy Ghost. This is God for Who He is - the absence of any one of these 'aspects' negates the reality of God or any evidence of Him (i.e. God cannot be God unless His Word & Spirit are in existence within Him).

Now God can do what mortal man cannot do: He can send out His Spirit to fulfil His Will & Plans for the universe & for us. He has also chosen to send out His Word, clothe the Word with human flesh for the salvation & redemption of sinners ( John 1:1-14). Impossible for us to do, but not impossible with God. Is God now deficient in Himself by doing all this? Not so. Both the Spirit & the Word were sent out by God from within God, & all they have done & continue to do are in perfect harmony with God's Mind, Power, & Purpose. Simply put, the Word (Jesus) & the Spirit can never do anything outside of God's Will because they are fully within or sent from God's Being.

There are many "numbers" being toss about with no Biblical reference: 7000 being the elected Jews? Acts 2 was used, but only 3000 were saved and baptized v41. Later in the same chapter many were saved, however no exact number v47 "and the LORD added to the church daily such as should be saved."

A reference was made to Revelation 7, but even there John writes of the 144,000; 12,000 from each tribe.

I found from 1 Kings 19: 18: GOD reminds Elijah "...yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Ball, and every mouth which hath not kissed him."

Hope everything is going well with you. In comments recently KJBO Admin put new messages about updates, they asked for additional suggestions. I would reply to that thread. They're usually quick to respond. There is also a Link they usually have in that comment to reply to if you'd rather reply that way.

Btw._. I thought I'd take the opportunity to explain why I rarely reply back on the threads. One comment you made a while back addressed your feelings when not being replied back to, during discussion. Usually the original Thread is a new person asking a question & I personally wouldn't want different conversations going on in a chat if I was seeking a GODly answer from scripture. Luke 6:31, especially if new in scripture. My other reasoning is: if I do not feel my additional reply will edify, I usually will not. 1Thessalonians 5:11, Romans 14:19, 1Corinthians 10:23, finally because our comments are up & posted for all the literal World to see, read & return to: 2Corinthians 3:2, I am trying to treat GOD's Word & my opportunity to serve Him faithfully with the utmost respect & honor, therefore I do try to hold my tongue & keep my personal opinions mostly out of my posts. There is a phrase I heard while travelling: "Same, but Different"

This might explain the seemingly paradoxical relationship of the trinity or Godhead. Exactly how much the same are they and exactly how different are they? We don't know, we're only humans with limited capacity to comprehend this and no Earthly experience with this relationship. We only know what God's word says...

This is not a salvation issue and shouldn't cause divisions within the body, but yes, I believe you are interpreting the Bible correctly. In my opinion theree is much stronger Biblical support for this compared to the idea of Christians going direct to heaven as they die. Someone can simply make a list and there are probably more than double the amount of verses supporting that someone will wait in sleep for Jesus to return than to go to heaven immediately. It also makes more logical sense as it would seem weird for Christians to go to heaven and skip judgment when it says everyone will be judged, and everyone in this case means everyone- and it also says it will happen on the same day: the day of judgment, which wouldn't exactly happen if people periodically went to heaven randomly. It would not make as much logical sense if Christians went to heaven only to return back to earth in the grave to rise, then meet Jesus, then go back to heaven a 2nd time. Whereas, the alternative seems to both fit scripture and be more logical too.

The support for the other perspective is the thief on the cross through an assumption that this is a template for all of mankind to follow and no exceptions and that paradise is the same is heaven. The second is that when Paul said he'd rather be away from his body and with the Lord that one assumes his preference means reality for all, and assumes that him wanting to be with the Lord means there's no waiting period. Of course when someone sleeps in death it likely won't seem like waiting, just like when we sleep on earth we usually aren't conscious a full 8 hours waiting to wake up. God bless.

I read your posts, but I do not reply as much anymore but if I may. The statement Jesus was fully God and fully man, I have heard others say as well. From the time Jesus was born until He was resurrected and ascended back to heaven can this be truly said?

We read in John 17:1-5, shortly before Jesus was arrested, He prayed to the Father to be restored. Jesus left it all behind for us, the only begotten Son of God. The Bible does not clarify what that glory is, but whatever it was, it was lacking in Him while He was human. Jesus came as a human being and had to deal with life as we do, Heb. 4:15, and was obedient to the Father, Phil. 2:6-9.

Jesus was sent to fulfill the law and the prophets only man could do that. Jesus is the Messiah/Christ that God promised and sent, the Anointed One, the only begotten Son of God, and when He was baptized, He was anointed with the Holy Spirit without measure to do the will of the Father that sent Him, Matt. 10:40 Luke 4:18 John 3:34-35 John 5:30-31 John 17:21.

Jesus is now back in heaven with the glory He had at the right hand of the Father and will reign until all enemies are put under His feet, 1 Cor 15:25 and we know the last one is death, Rev 20:14.

There is no other name above His, Phil. 2:9 and no other name where there is salvation, Acts 4:12.

Hello Jacqui, I just noticed a possible misunderstanding. I'm reading Giannis's quote:

And now I'm reading your quote:

He didn't use the word separate and didn't say anything was separate from God, either, but distinct within God. Deuteronomy 6:4 says God is one. There's only one God. And within the one God 1 John 5:7 says there are 3 parts. The 3 are still one. This is what most Christians believe because this is what the Bible says.

All 3 components of one God are already spirits. God the Father is a spirit, God the Son (Jesus) is a spirit, and the Holy Spirit is a spirit.

By your comment, within one God do you only believe in only 2 parts within one God instead of 3 parts within one God like 1 John 5:7 says? God bless.

1 Peter 4:6 is a verse that you have to put it in context with the previous verses.

Dead mentioned here in this verse isn't physical death it is spiritually dead. ( Dead in trespasses and sins).

Notice the context.

1 Peter 4:3-6. For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:

Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:

Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.

For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.

John 5:24. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; BUT IS PASSED FROM DEATH UNTO LIFE.
