I agree, something about the new American Catholic versions just doesn't cut it, it's like something's missing or left out. Restores peace to ones soul when recited in times of crisis, grief or turmoil......Thus endeth the Sermon. Amen.
  • Charles Bonsu on 1 Corinthians 14 - 8 years ago
    Amen.

For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, 1 Thessalonians 5:9 I strongly advise everyone to read the Psalms carefully and prayerfully in order to realize and to understand that bearing up under tribulation, persecution, opposition and contradiction from the ungodly, is not wrath from God but A TOKEN OF THE GRACE OF GOD AND HIS SPIRIT ABIDING IN YOU! If you were of the world, the world would love its own. But because you ARE NOT OF THE WORLD, but the Lord Jesus Christ has severed you from other people that you should be His therefore the world hates you, as it hated Jesus before you. Our appointed portion in this life, is to be transformed into the image and likeness of God our Saviour, and in doing so, to bear up cheerfully under the sufferings of Christ while we await His return! Study the history of the Church, and you'll see that this has been the way of all Jesus' people in every age. Why should we the last generation before His coming want to have it any different from all our brothers and sisters who went before us? Don't be misled by the earthly-minded self-life serving errors of the ungodly! Be strong and persevere, be resilient and stand true and faithful to the end and Jesus will give us the crown of life.

Note the mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed. In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
  • Randy on 1 John 3 - 8 years ago
So we are not sinners anymore because Jesus took away all our sin. Putting to death the sinful nature be the renewing of our minds...believing the Truth fully. It is the only way we can be Holy to the Lord. And Jesus gets ALL the credit...not our flesh.
  • A disciple on Genesis 1 - 8 years ago
However Jeff, the Word of God is not for us to put whatever meaning we want on it. Otherwise He would just be speaking into the air! Didn't the LORD speak clearly many times questioning the teachers of Israel; Have you not read? Have you never read? and, You are the teacher of Israel, and these things you know not? If He doesn't use words easy to understand what can He expect for a right response?
  • Gloria on Daniel 4 - 8 years ago
Praise God, who releases understanding as he pleases, that king must have gone what we call today as mental illness. God decides what is good for us, God decides what to do with us to bring us closer to him, closer to each other and humble us together for His glory. To bring back the ultimate glory to Himself. The king Nebuchadnezzar is a perfect example, thank God who keeps us safe.
  • Julee Hodge on Ezekiel 1 - 8 years ago
What's happening here sounds so much like REVELATIONS! ... Does it not?
  • Jeff Berry - 8 years ago
    1) "In the beginning" means in the beginning. This is clear. So God created the heaven/earth having no form/void (empty) covered with water and dark in the beginning. He could have spoke everything into existance in a word but he choose to start with a canvas (a process). (Why He choose a "process" is open for discussion). But He choose a process that only took 6 literal days!
  • Jeff Berry - 8 years ago
    2) vv 1-5 is one 24 hour period. "In the beginning...the evening and the morning were the first day." Moss (likely the author) choose his words carefully. We all understand "the evening and the morning" to be a 24 hour period or a day. vv 7-8 the second day, etc. (In fact, scripture makes the age of the earth very clear). The earth is young (literally only thousands of years old).
  • Jeff Berry on Genesis 1 - 8 years ago
    3) If we allow for "millions" of years we are trying to make God's Word "fit" man's science. If (in spite of how clear God's Word is) we say it is open for "interpretation" all of God's Word is open for interpretation. We can take any part of His Word and make it say what WE want it  to say.

    Beautiful verse.
  • A disciple on Revelation 12 - 8 years ago
Chris; This wonder is one of the many, many kinds of visions given by God to describe what's done in the spiritual realm; (in heaven); concerning God and men. The war in heaven has already been, and the devil and his angels ARE cast out. The woman who gave birth to the Anointed is not only Mary of Nazareth but spiritual. Mary wasn't given wings to fly into the wilderness. The flood is persecution.
  • A disciple on 1 Thessalonians 4 - 8 years ago
He that is of God hears God's words! The only difference between "tribulation" and "THE [great] tribulation" (if there is at all); is that the one is the whole of this evil world come to its full end and ripeness for destruction. There have been many "great tribulations" sent upon the world for their iniquity; all were a result of sin and apostasy FIRST in those who had the Word and rejected it!
  • A disciple on 1 Thessalonians 4 - 8 years ago
Charlie; Since you're quoting the Lord; READ EVERYTHING THE LORD SAID! Psalm 68:21; "God shall wound the head of His enemies, and the hairy scalp of him that goes on still in His trespasses." Jesus ALWAYS said, "Sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee!" He NEVER said, Oh blessed are you who believe in me; now you can can live the way you want with complete immunity from RIGHTEOUS JUDGMENT!
  • I AM on 1 Thessalonians 5 - 8 years ago
I pray thee NOW dear SON, Let the poor, the maimed, the lame and the blind be called to your feast O God. And bring also all who sleep in thee O LORD JESUS; and be glorified. Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever. Amen
  • Jeff Berry on Genesis 1 - 8 years ago
    Disciple; how great indeed!
  • Charles Bonsu on 1 Corinthians 13 - 8 years ago
    Amen.
  • Chris on Revelation 12 - 8 years ago
5 And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron

This is Mary giving birth to Jesus.

As for the war described, it has not occurred yet. Let's just hope your part of the right army when that day comes. The army headed up by the woman clothed with the sun.
  • Wayne on 1 John 3 - 8 years ago
Jim, Randy, read Romans 6 chapter. Will help you understand the sin nature and our freedom from it. Also, 1 John 3 chapter, whosoever abideth in Him sinneth not, whosoever sinneth hath not seen Him neither known Him. No sin in Heaven. If a person continues sinning, they don't Christ. No one is instantly purified upon death. Appointed unto man once to die then judgment. No salvation afterwards!
  • Preacher Charlie Chandler on 1 Thessalonians 4 - 8 years ago
When I repented I didn,t take on any sins my sins were borne by JESUS on the cross!Who his own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree.1Pet.2:24.My sins are forgiven! In whom we have redemption through His blood even the forgiveness of sins.Col.1:12-14.I n whom we have redemption through His blood the forgiveness of sins.Eph.1:7Jesus forgave my sins. You want to bare sins go ahead mines gone
  • Randy on 2 John 1 - 8 years ago
Hey Walter...may the Good Lord bless you! I think it means Jesus put to death sin in the flesh for us. So if Jesus took away all of our fleshly sins, all that's left is to believe we are not sinners anymore because of Him. Isn't that believing Him fully?
  • Peter A. Okebukola on 1 Corinthians 13 - 8 years ago
May God give us the grace to display charity (love) to all.
  • Peter A. Okebukola on Nehemiah 4 - 8 years ago
The devil has eaten into Sanballat, Tobiah and their ilk. How dare they to prevent the work of the Lord. Happily, Nehemiah and his people made ample preparations to counter the Sanballat group. We should not be bothered about the antics of evil ones. All that is important is for us to keep our eyes on the ball, working for the Lord and victory is sure.
  • Preacher Charlie Chandler on 1 Thessalonians 4 - 8 years ago
Tribulation is a thing the Great Tribulation is an event which JESUS spoke of Mt.24:21 the event He will keep the church from Rev3:10.Here on earth even JESUS faced temptation Luke4:1-13,Mk.1:12-13,Mt.4: 1-11 and while here on earth we will face temptation too.The way JESUS will keep us from it is in Heaven where the Devil and his angels will be cast into the earth never to accuse us againRev:12.
  • Mark on Psalms 107 - 8 years ago
What a wonderful refrain which occurs in this psalm, "Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men." How many of our ills and despairing of life could be avoided if only we took this to heart everyday. We are to regularly remind those without the Lord of this fact. Of His love for them, shown by us!
