To the question of whether we are all created equal; we have to consider, in what sense? In that we all have a spirit, soul and body? Yes. in that we all are made in the image of God? yes. In that we are indeed ALL created? Yes. In that we all have a moral capacity to choose good or evil, to hear the word of truth or to not hear? Yes. "For who makes you to differ from another?"

In previous chapters we saw that the Israelites refused to listen to Jehovah God. Here in verse 4 we can see that they repented and humbled themselves to the point of weeping.

How does the statement, "saved by grace through faith, and not by works," make someone struggle with the equally true statement, "then truly by their fruits you shall know them;" (referring to the works of one who fails the grace of God) ?

Word, I don't recall writing anything that had the two Enoch's confused. Your insistence for people to "read His word slowly" to gain understanding is quite strange. God gives understanding, reading fast or slow has nothing to do with understanding. He calls the elect to be diligent, I do not see any instruction in His word "read slowly.' Yes, Amen, Lu2677; as the Lord said, "When you have done all that is commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants; we have done that which is our duty to do." I think that so much of the discussion surrounding the idea of whether or not we are "saved by works" seems to come from the idea that obedience is something special we give to God; and a MISAPPLIED fear of robbing God of His glory.

Brother Hiram; Maybe you haven't quite got your wording? The whole point of this Sermon on the mount is to show by our works out of a pure heart and a good conscience, what is the true grace of God. It is all by our works that we shall be judged; (read Matt. 25); and it is all by the quality of our faith that our works are acted out and that which shows us either wise or stupid as proven by trial.

We are instructed to judge but using God's Word as our standard, not our own convictions, sins, etc. BUT...we are warned that if we are to judge that we must be prepared to be judged in the same fashion. Not only do we need to examine our motives during said judging but we also need to make sure that we are doing so in the spirit of reconciliation. We need to pray, edify and lift up the stumbling.

This chapter is not in parables but spoken as law, in commandment form. As God spoke to Moses only, for the people were in fear, so too did Jesus spoke to those with ears to hear. Jesus absorbed the scriptures, for he spoke of fulfilling the law and not creating a new law. So I do as well, immersing myself in the old and new, for both are relevant. While we are still in this world, the Lord has said that He would keep us from the evil as we look to Him and abide in Him. How long the Nations are ordained to have the dominion, is all in the Father's hands, for His own reasons. What a blessing when God gives a ruler who seeks to do good! We are likewise sent out from Babylon in full view of the world, to take our journey to the New Jerusalem.

We have no real comparison today to the Church in Ephesus, as far as importance and leadership among the Churches. It looks like they were just perfect in their religious activities, and nothing to be blamed, but the Lord points to their fault as so serious, that He is about to remove them from being His light bearers in the world. How could their hearts have grown cold toward Jesus?

Revelation starts with the Lord's convictings and warnings to the Christians to live ready and to walk in truth, with the view toward the things coming on the world.
