Verse 7 possibly indicates why Herod considered the two year timeframe. That may have been the time in which the Magi first saw His star and their arrival.
  • Lu2677 on 2 Samuel 12 - 9 years ago
2 Samuel 12:13 (David acknowledged his sin, in repentance.) He paid dearly, God caused his son to be ill, and the child died. David asked God to save the child, God did not oblige him this time. God forgave David.

A disciple;with the exception of a couple of things,i have proclaimed in the same light the things you are addressing me with. Are you correcting me or are you letting me know you have understanding in these matters? It is hard here with so little space to write,I can only hope that the verse I give will be read in the same spirit that I give them. Some verse IS the context, some need more for clarity

"And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth." It would be ridiculous to imagine that someone could ever persuade the world to abandon what they have held as sacred as religion for thousands of years; but as Christians, we should know the truth about what is behind all the violence, and the fanatic obsession with anti-Christ globalism. "Pray that you enter not into temptation."
  • Tbwright on Jeremiah 1 - 9 years ago
The message for this lost and dying world is to preach and teach about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and how He saves!
  • Tbwright on Jeremiah 2 - 9 years ago
My pastor is currently speaking on this word. She is reminding us that God has a plan, a purpose, and a role for each of us just as He had for Jeremiah.
  • Grady on Ezekiel 13 - 9 years ago
As I read it saddens me to see Christians in great debate over nothing. If you don't look for the rapture you have made your choice. If you argue the method you have wasted your time, No you have wasted Gods time. Who sets out to waste Gods time? Gods will be done.
  • A disciple on Revelation 5 - 9 years ago
Because God so loved the world, and because there was no man worthy to come and take the sacred scroll from His hand; God Himself provided us a Man, through whom He could make reconciliation, and so also open our understanding to understand the matters that He undertakes with man. In the little scroll are the things done, and those determined for the conclusion of this matter of the present age.
  • A disciple on Revelation 6 - 9 years ago
Under the first two seals that are opened for us to behold, is the beginning of the matter with the men of this world, in him who "began to be a mighty one in the earth;" and of his kingdom (Babel and Nineveh) which he created to subvert the minds of men and turn them away from God and virtue, unto moral slavery to himself; for the which cause comes the Day of God upon them; (Gen.10:8-12; 11:1-9).
  • Towana foster on Genesis 17 - 9 years ago
My point of view on this scripture is that God kept his promise to Abraham even after he went and sinned with Hagar. Now I know that Sarah influence Abraham to go and make a child with her because she could not see how God was going to do it considering her situation and her age. This reminds me of myself and how were compare ourselves to our parents because we think that how it should be but God.
  • Centurian on Matthew 8 - 9 years ago
Praise God, for he has visited His people. Now we are certain that He exists and that He rewards those who continue in their diligence, those who never waver in their faith, those whose humility exceeds that if the Pharisee, and those who are healed according to their belief that whom God has sent was capable of healing and more, of converting hearts from cynicism to surrender to the infinite God
  • Lu2677 on Galatians 1 - 9 years ago
A disciple;I have not argued whether salvation is of works or by faith. Eph.2:8 tells us it is by His grace we are saved through faith, a gift. A gift meaning there are no requirements made by God of us to attain this gift;it is not given as a result of works, lest anyone should boast.I contend that faith without works is dead faith.Just to clarify to others that do not get where I am coming from
  • Lu2677 on Proverbs 10 - 9 years ago
Cont.from page Matt.24;A disciple, Proverbs 10:11"The mouth of a righteous man is a well (abundance) of life; but violence covers (fills) the mouth of the wicked." The wicked are those that do not have God's word in their heart. You said "we can NEVER know our own hearts."Not true, I know mine. If you do not know yours how will you know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error in you or them?
  • Joe on Romans 1 - 9 years ago
Having been a vile sinner saved by grace it breaks my heart to see people reprobate in their behavior and yet "christian" people reveling in those that are practicing disobedience to God's laws and statues its not funny to me.
  • Lu2677 on Matthew 24 - 9 years ago
A disciple, Is it hypocritical to give verse to someone who speaks against His word, for correction? We are called to consent to wholesome words.Scripture is truth. It is possible to "know".Matt.12:34"from the heart the mouth speaks."We know what is in their heart by what comes out of their mouth.Jer.11:36,Pro.6:2, Exodus 4:13-16,V.15"put words in his mouth', Isaiah 59:21,examples if interested.

  • Wayne on 2 Peter 3 - 9 years ago
Jesus preached to the unsaved, some believed some didn't, and He just kept walking and preaching, healing. Same with Paul. And others. No matter how hard it was, when it seemed no one was listening, they kept on, in the joy of the Lord.
  • Wayne on Matthew 24 - 9 years ago
Heaven and earth shall pass away. V.35, so Christ, in his very own words, says.
  • Wayne on Matthew 19 - 9 years ago
Christians are to honor their parents as Christ honored his father, who is in heaven.
  • Wayne on Matthew 4 - 9 years ago
Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. V. 17
  • Peter A. Okebukola on 2 Samuel 12 - 9 years ago
How intriguing that the Lord will hearken onto sinful David and give him a replacement son-Solomon. Like his father David, Solomon became the apple of God's eye until he himself transgressed. Our great God of heaven is predictable. If we sin, He will chastise. If we ask for His precious Blood to wash away our sins, He will oblige. If we continue in sin, His hammer falls on the sinner.
  • A disciple on Psalms 51 - 9 years ago
(5-6) Two verses that stand out to me with respect to some recent posts/conversations. This Psalm has been very precious to me for so long, for very painful reasons. I can imagine how terrible David felt, though my sins weren't exactly like his: one wishes they could just make the past to have never happened; but it did! And still, the LORD is willing to forgive and cleanse and make new again!!!!!
  • A disciple on Galatians 1 - 9 years ago
Lu2677; I know sometimes my way of wording can be odd; but I was referring to the constant argument (that in my opinion IS NO argument), about whether we're saved by works or by faith. Our works make manifest our faith; right? the fruits we bear are the works; which are the reflection of that grace which has been wrought in our hearts, by faith in Jesus. God works in us as we walk in truth.
