In verse 14 Jesus says we are his friends if we do what he commanded us. Do our friends encourage us to do what Jesus commands us so that we can be his friends!
  • Irene123 on Ecclesiastes 6 - 9 years ago
Truly wise people who happen to be rich - are very seldom - joyful. To keep their wealth they have lots of 'concerns', and it's HARD to trust people with their business, embezzlers, bad advice, etc. Oh, they can laugh at a party, but it's not in their eyes. Earthly riches does not bring happiness. Many of their children die from drugs, and other bad judgment.
  • BSP on John 14 - 9 years ago
Verse 9 shows that Jesus reflects his Father's personality so perfectly that observing Jesus is like seeing the Father.
  • Irene123 on Ecclesiastes 6 - 9 years ago
Delores - Solomon began good, but because he was blessed of God, above all men, in wisdom 'n riches - he gradually turned from God. He was lifted up in pride. His many women turned him to idol worship; he sacrificed children (pass through the fire) to the idols of Chemosh, Molech, etc - in the 'high places'. 1 Kgs. 3:3; 11:10; Deut.17:14-20. No, he never repented or God's word would say so.

To all, there are few heroes in the Bible that equal the apostle Paul. Stephen was a great deacon St. Paul was not only one of the greatest apostles like the twelve whom Jesus said would sit on thrones with him ruling the nation of Israel in the millennium Matt. 19:28 KJV though Judas fell, but Paul also wrote over half of the New Testament. Praise God!

David, this part in the Law was only a part of what all is said about adultery: the commandment is, Thou shalt not commit ADULTERY. And the Lord Jesus expounded it to the Jews; who ought to have known already; that the Word goes to the thoughts and intents of the heart; and not only in the physical action. Other Scriptures mention the death penalty applying to both the man and woman for that sin.

In the context of all that the Apostle wrote up to this point it is for us to discipline and control our mind, our heart, our entire purpose and conduct, in the same way that all the Saints and Prophets before us have followed from the beginning having endured and overcome all contradiction and opposition of the ungodly, by holding the Word of God, the Promise of the Saviour, and seeking to know Him and His Personal Supreme Greatness, as all our joy and purpose for being. The rebukes and warnings against slipping away and hardening of the heart, are words of wisdom and love so that we NOT fall away and end up losing those things we have once labored and suffered for but that we endure to the end, and receive the complete salvation in Christ we wait for. Looking unto Jesus means literally, "Looking away to Jesus:" that is away from all the sin and ungodliness which surrounds us, and weighs us down with grief and torment. And with our "looking away to Jesus " learning from Him how to despise the shame, with a view toward the joy which no man can take from us, when we get their! In other words, to have the strong faith, by firmness of understanding, that can set aside as nothing worth to care about, the shame and humiliation heaped on us by the proud and ungodly and their scorn and abuse and persecution because we know that this is not our long home and we are coming to our rest and reward in the Day of Eternity with our Wonderful Saviour Jesus Christ .
  • BSP on Hebrews 12 - 9 years ago
Jesus looked ahead to the joy and that helped him to endure the suffering that he went through.

  • A disciple on John 1 - 9 years ago
"In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not." As says the Proverb about wisdom crying daily to everyone, to consider their ways and come to understanding; the spirit of life that animates us, is an expounder of God's infinite understanding and power: and the Word of God searches our innermost selves to teach us truth.
  • Masterprohet on Proverbs 11 - 9 years ago
Let us love our enimies as Christ love us. For their heart shall be convicted of the sin in the presence of God.
  • Stephende on Luke 13 - 9 years ago
Chap.13 tells us that what you assume is not necessarily so. We shall all perish if we don't repent, which is to say that we depend no longer on our assumptions but on the Word of God. It is the most difficult thing, the strait gate and is not for everyone but this is the calling! This is why Jesus came, not to the religious but to the people. He came to criticise, not to cajole. So be it
  • Abe on Revelation 1 - 9 years ago
Gene, Revelation is very easily understood book. Many misinterpret as future happenings when truly it is the revelation of Jesus Christ and tells of our Christian warfare between God and Satan. It is not future but what we go through now.

  • David on Numbers 5 - 9 years ago
Why is it that only women are prosecuted in the Bible days for infidelity?
  • David on Numbers 5 - 9 years ago
I am a bit uncomfortable about the system of the olden days. Why is it that, it's only women's infidelity attracts courses and judgment, does it mean that in those days men doesn't have extramarital affairs?
  • A disciple on Isaiah 7 - 9 years ago
God calls many, who after prove unworthy, and end up doing and causing very much evil. King Saul ended up being an enemy and persecutor, and caused civil war in Israel, because of his envy of David. Ahaz ended up being the one who called the Assyrians for help; which ultimately destroyed and carried away captive the whole Northern kingdom. Apostates and hypocrites are the worst traitors!
  • Irene123 on Ezekiel 37 - 9 years ago
    V. 9 - " .....Prophesy unto the wind ..... "; Acts 2:2 - " ..... and there came a sound as of a mighty rushing wind ..... "
  • Peter A. Okebukola on Matthew 18 - 9 years ago
Like the lord in verse 27, Jesus is willing to forgive all our sins so we can be blameless when we appear before Him at His Judgement Seat. We should also adopt the same posture of forgiving all those who trespass against us, countless times.
  • CLINTON DALE CURTSINGER on Psalms 91 - 9 years ago
JESUS SAVES. HE IS LORD AND SAVIOR TO ALL WHO COME TO HIM. AMEN. Psalm 91 assures us of GODS love and protection of us.

Why was the Butler restored to his position and the Baker hanged? Notice that when Joseph volunteered to hear their dreams, the Butler's attitude is, "Why not?" this is like a man who does not have a guilty conscience.
The Baker, on the other hand, only told his dream when he saw the interpretation was good. Pharaoh, I think, was wise enough to discern who the guilty party truly was.
  • Haakon Ragnskjold on Genesis 40 - 9 years ago
Joseph's time in Egypt seemed to be there to teach him one great lesson: Others may mean you evil in the things they do, but God means you good in those very same things.
Had his brothers not meant him evil he most likely would not have been in Egypt.
Had Potiphar's wife not lied, he wouldn't have met the Butler.
Had the Butler not forgotten him, he wouldn't have interpreted Pharaoh's dream.
  • Bruce on Matthew 5 - 9 years ago
The darkness of this world is getting darker! You can feel the darkness, in the news and the towns and cities, in the neighborhood and the Churches are turning dark. We,who are cleansed by The Blood (Revelation1:5) are "THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD". (V:14) If they don't see The Light in us!??? WE: THE LIGHT OF THE World are the only LIGHT they will see. Stay trimmed, keep full of oil. Preach the gospel

Verse 22 shows how merciful Jehovah God truly is. He invited those who wronged him to come to him and he would heal them.

Mari, Thank-You - so much. I am staying strong with Him, but we all do have His trials He gives us - Pro.12:25; BUT - then I look to Paul - 2 Cor. 11:24-27, and I know I can make it. I am the only one in my fam. of several that is with Him, and I have a lot of pain at 75. The fam. is good to me.

Wayne - You are so kind on here; I can feel your gentleness - Thank-you. About 'Father' and 'Holy Ghost' - Yes, He is very alive in my life (not 'they'). All I can give you to explain this is - again - 1 Tim. 3:16; " ..... GOD was ....."

God gave the Israelites nothing but good things when He brought them into the Promised Land but they showed an unappreciative spirit and repaid Jehovah God's loving kindness with badness.
