Matt. 4:17- When Jesus began to preach, He said, Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
  • Irene123 on 1 Peter 1 - 9 years ago
1Pet.1:1 - " ..... to the 'strangers' ..... " Peter was writing here to Christians who were scattered under the persecution of the Romans after the Day of Pentecost. The word strangers used here denotes - strangers to this world which they have been taken out of spiritually; we are 'in' this world, but not 'of' this world. To be 'of' it is to partake of its sins.
  • Irene123 on Acts 2 - 9 years ago
Acts 18:2 says Aquila was from Pontus. I got curious, looked up Pontus. And the article reminded me there were people (Greeks, "strangers") present on the Day of Pentecost, Acts 2:9. It was during the Roman period that Christianity entered Pontus and near-by areas from the Roman 'dispersion'. God wanted His people to spread His word beyond Jerusalem, and this is how he did it.
  • Irene123 on Acts 17 - 9 years ago
The history of the Bible is, to me, like Eze. ch. 37; searching out the history makes it come alive for me.
  • Irene123 on Acts 17 - 9 years ago
Dionysius the Areopagite was a judge of the Areopagus (Mars Hill) from where Paul preached, vs. 22-34. I looked up 'Dionysius', 'Areopagite', 'Areopagus' to find all this out. I love the history of the Bible. To know the history, for me, draws the characters so much closer. They're not just 'dry dust' from the past.
  • Irene123 - 9 years ago
Acts 16:32 - "And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house." By this, you can see Paul and Silas didn't just say, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house."
  • Irene123 on Acts 16 - 9 years ago
Acts 2:37, " ..... men and brethren, what must we do?" v. 38; Acts 16 30 - " ..... Sirs, what must I do to be saved"? v. 33 - "..... and was baptized, he and all his, straightway." Paul and Silas told him to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. To 'believe' is more than just 'mental' assent. Read Jas.1:22,23, 17,18, 20-22, 24-26. To believe is simply faith; to have faith is to believe.
  • Irene123 on Ephesians 1 - 9 years ago
Eph. 1:13 - the word of 'truth' is Acts 2:38 (Matt.28:19); the gospel of your salvation, Acts 2:37 - "men and brethren, what must we do"? ye were sealed with that holy spirit of promise, Acts 10:45-46.
  • Wesley on Hebrews 10 - 9 years ago
IN ORDER TO BE SAVED YOU HAVE TO BELIEVE THAT JESUS WHO WAS GOD'S ONLY BEGOTTEN SON THAT HE CAME INTO THE WORLD TO DIE FOR YOUR SINS WAS BURIED AND ROSE FROM THE DEAD 3 DAYS LATER.YOU HAVE TO BELIEVE THAT HE DID THAT FOR YOU.YOU CANNOT ADD WORKS TO THE GOSPEL.IT NEVER WAS BASED ON YOUR PERFORMANCE AND IT NEVER WILL.FOR IT IS A FREE GIFT.IF SALVATION IS NOT OF WORKS THEN YOU CAN'T JUDGE BY WORKS.
  • Vonnie Walker on Romans 6 - 9 years ago
Paul is teaching that the wages of sin is death. You can't make it's any plainer than that.
  • A disciple on Luke 1 - 9 years ago
"And they had no child, because that Elisabeth was barren, and they both were now well stricken in years." Difficulties and sorrows and being deprived of the natural comforts and good things of this life, did not keep Zechariah and Elizabeth from loving the LORD and walking faithfully with Him; and they found out one day, how God had a special plan for them: to be the parents of John the Baptist!
  • A disciple on Luke 1 - 9 years ago
"And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless." God has given us commandments and statutes for living good and holy before Him. The reason He gave us commandments, is for us to do them, that we may live and be blessed. We have all heard the devil's lies, saying that "no one can keep the commandments;" this is to get us to sin!
  • A disciple on Genesis 48 - 9 years ago
Abraham, Isaac, Israel, and Joseph were Prophets: the family created and chosen by God to be His own special people above all people of the earth; and through whom He would bless all nations; is the House of the Testimony of Jesus Christ; Rev. 19:10. The race of Israel was created for a sign and wonder to the world for God giving the Saviour of the world; to the Jew first, and also to the Nations.

Jesus gives us hope and courage, which help us to overcome anxiety
  • Borney on Psalms 36 - 9 years ago
This Psalm took me into the heart of Jesus on the cross wherein I felt forsaken by lover and friend and could only pray, Father into thy hands I commend my spirit. For if those who reject me without cause and those who would only destroy me by thier love and loyalty to others while casually using me both never come to a knowledge of saving faith I am a man alone and God says, it is not good.

We can throw all of our problems on Jehovah by praying, reading and meditating on God's Word and letting Jehovah God holy spirit help you
  • Izola bird on Job 39 - 9 years ago
I think the unicorn is just that what we see as a fantasy mythical horse with a horn. So why can't we say the bible is right. Our imagination can't began to comprehend all kinds of creatures from the beginning when God created the earth. Maybe they died off like the giants "David and Goliath."
  • Irene123 on Psalms 68 - 9 years ago
The O.T. believers died in faith, not sin. Those are the ones Jesus "led captivity captive" into Abraham's bosom. Believers don't die in sin.
  • Luke on Song of Solomon 3 - 9 years ago
Lol at all of these allegories in the comments... This is about romantic love and there's nothing shameful about it. God endorses the union of people, and this doesn't need to be connected with 1st Thessalonians, Matthew, or Revelation (i.e. the Marriage supper of the lamb in each case) in order to be profound scripture.
  • Mikael on Isaiah 32 - 9 years ago
    Thank you.
  • Mark verrell on Matthew 8 - 9 years ago
JESUS confronts the demons, the demons sort of challenge HIM saying "have YOU come here to torment us before the time" and the demons ask HIM to put them into the herd of swine" all of a sudden I am sorta baffled as to the demons sorta have free regain but more so JESUS does as they the demons request. JESUS does everything righteously) I guess HE KNEW the swine would kill themselv
  • Kevin on John 3 - 9 years ago
What is the purpose of baptism? Can one be saved and go to Heaven without being baptized?
  • A disciple on Genesis 1 - 9 years ago
Rick You are right! Trinity is not written as such in the Scriptures. The greatness of God is too high for any man to count; but He does give us some things to know and understand Him, in the capacity we ARE able. For example; in John 13-16, Jesus in many places speaks of the Spirit as a divine person, "whom the Father will send in my name:"and at Jesus' baptism, three separate persons are there.
  • Hector D. on Genesis 1 - 9 years ago
The bible DOES refer to God as "God the Father," the bible does NOT refer to Jesus as "God the Son," nor does the bible refer the HolyGhost as "God the HolyGhost." Jesus is referred to as the son of God, son of Man, Wonderful,Counselor, THE Mighty God, THE everlasting Father,Prince of Peace, Redeamer, Savior, Comforter, Spirit of Truth, the Word, God manifested in flesh, the Way, I Am, I AM HE!!!
  • SueM on Genesis 34 - 9 years ago
We have no right to blame Dinah. She was honorable in going out to see the other girls her age; apparently, she had only brothers. No one on this thread is condemning any of the men for speaking with the men of the town.
  • Terry on Romans 13 - 9 years ago
If you depend on just verse 9, you depend on works. One must take in the whole counsel of God! It starts with Faith, then comes the works compelled by the Holy Spirit. I.E, What is faith without works? - James I believe.
All the commandments hinge on Love God first, Neighbor next. The rest will fall in place with a progressing relationship through prayer and study.
  • G.RAJKUMAR on Psalms 16 - 9 years ago
when every thing not works for you only God works for you because you are his son / daughter. when a son fully depend on his father, father pleases in him earthly fathers some time may leave you but the real Father who died for you will not forsake you. trust him to day he will rescue you from all dangers. because you are his property.Like you watch your property he watch his property.amen
